Clark (2022)
Brilliant fast paced comedy series. Bill is a star.
The editing and directing is brilliant, fast paced and very similar to directors like Tarantino and Edgar Wright. The fast cutting and great acting from Skarsgård makes this series very enjoyable to watch. The story is based on true events, which makes this possible to watch without cringing. And yes, not everything might be true and some might be exaggerated, but it has to be when it's being made into a comedy series like this. Great series.
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
Bo Burnham is the peoples' comedy person.
Bo Burnham is so clever in his writing. He makes fun of stereotypes and norms in a way that you can't be offended by it. I may not be "a white woman" who posts the things on Instagram that Bo sings about, but I sure as hell wouldn't feel offended if he called me out like that. Speaking of calling out, he also calls out the powerful companies and groups in the celebrity world. Bo is like an A24 movie. He isn't the most famous but he is so charming because every time he does something it's clever and he has worked hard on it. People love him because of this. He is like the little guy but he speaks loudly and people relate. This special shows how talented he is. He is great at the piano and his voice is very nice to listen to, but the writing is the best. The rhymes, the message and how the music fits his lyrics so well. He is a one man show. And this special is basically a one man show and it's all made in the same litle room.
Bo Burnham for the win.
Joker (2019)
Joaquin Phoenix does the role of his life.
It's a masterpiece. Simple as that. Joaquin does the role of his life in this movie. It felt so real, Arthur really is a troubled man and boy did we get the perfect man to play him. The writing and directing is also amazing, Todd Phillips really makes you feel the Scorsese-Taxi Driver vibes. It's so dark and it makes you sympathize with Arthur when you really shouldn't in a way.
I am going to watch it again, for sure. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time. This will be a classic.
The Lion King (2019)
Nostalgia, 7.8 rating
I was born in 2002 so the original Lion King was/is my childhood. This new movie made doesn't have the exact same feeling as the original, but maybe that is because I/we have such high thoughts about the original that it is damn near impossible to get the same feeling with a remake. But this movie was still amazing, it was basically the same movie, but that doesn't make it bad. It is a "live action" remake, they were not supposed to change the movie. This was the perfect way to remake the movie. Maybe remake is the wrong word, I don't know. But I cried, I laughed and I felt deep deep nostalgia with the singing. I am just lost for words really. It is VERY good. The things they could've done better was some cast choices. This movie deserves way better than these 1's and 5's that people are giving out. They have no taste for nostalgia, because that is exactly what this movie is about. NOSTALGIA
