May December (2023)
Good, but not quite
I was really thinking we were going to get to uncover the big secret, and while there was one, (or was there?) it was not as big as I expected. Especially with the dramatic music I thought it was going to be a shocking secret. Overall well done and great acting by Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. Not a movie I would recommend to my friends or family to watch. It was good, but I wouldn't watch again. Also I did have to google the meaning of the title of the movie and why it was called that. I would like to see the theoretical movie once it's made though. Ok now I'm just filling space because I need characters.
The Curse of La Llorona (2019)
Doesn't need to be involved in Conjuring series
This movie is clumped along with the conjuring series but it could easily be a stand alone. If you have never watched any other conjuring movie and want to watch this, don't worry you will hardly miss a thing.
Conspiracy Theory (1997)
Overall good
One of those movies where you are wondering who is telling the truth. I wish there could have been less love but it would have taken away from motive.
The Hunt (2020)
Pretty good, potential for better
This is one of those movies where you are a bit confused for a bit. Things happen really fast at the beginning which left me thinking we were going to be watching two hunts in one movie. But the ending was really solid. I may have needed some more middle to help explain what was going on.
The Ninth Gate (1999)
Ending is a bit off
The movie is quite good but it feels like it's missing some things. Does the main character realize she's a demon? How does it end so fast with him just entering the gate?
Richard Jewell (2019)
Not long enough.
I thought the movie didn't really emphasize how long it took for his name to get cleared and it didn't really portray Kathy Scruggs and that newspaper as the one who really ruined his life and wouldn't go back on their word. Overall it just wasn't long enough to really portray the story. It also had a happy ending of them getting their stuff back from the FBI which, in part, didn't happen.
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
Poorly done
I'm a huge fan of movies based on true events and I heard that this movie even had the actual people from the events. I don't want to say this movie was bad because the people don't know how to act, but I think the movie was poorly written and executed. I understand they were trying to convey that they were in the right place at the right time, but to spend so much of the movie setting up for this was very annoying not to mention how weird the cutting back and forth in time was at the beginning. Definitely a story that could have been done better.
