Uplifting
18 November 2023
I think this film deserves a much higher rating! It is full of joy, laughter, excellent dancing and wonderful scenery not to mention the superb main characters. I found myself smiling most of the time and find it so uplifting to see a film that unashamedly makes one happy. A rather unusual film with some surprising scenes - the sudden appearance of a national treasure for instance. (I won't say who as I don't want to write any spoilers!) I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed "Eurovision" also with Will Ferrell. I know a lot of people didn't like that film but if you did then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one too!

Corny but lovely!

Not the best show ever and a bit corny.... In a very endearing way. I really enjoy it! The characters are interesting and the scenery is amazing. Refreshing to see another side of the US other than pang pang cops.

Love it!

I'm so loving this series, especially for the characters and brilliant writing. Am having trouble with the fringe (bangs) in series 5 though! Some episodes have me laughing out loud, some are more serious in tone. The love elements are moving. Don't expect to understand all the scientific jargon though, but that doesn't matter. If you can watch all the gory scenes you have a stronger stomach than I do!

Not brilliant
6 October 2021
I have to agree with those of you who wrote that this is not by any means a brilliant show. However, I found the story line interesting enough to make me want to follow it through and I did actually enjoy it for that reason though I did have to allow for the far from adequate acting and dialog!

Good

Not a perfect production but I really enjoyed it. Acting for the most part very good. Underlying themes of trusting your own judgement and not letting yourself be bludgeoned into anything were my bonus take and also the locations were intriguing. Don't compare this with more professional US or UK series though. It's its own thing!

Preserve us from fake accents
11 August 2021
I very strongly dislike all attempts by British actors to imitate foreign accents unless they are absolutely perfect. If you know the language in question it makes the whole thing pretty unwatchable however good it may be otherwise. Take note directors!

Excellent writing

I'm hugely enjoying this series (watched 2 seasons now). Love the characters and their relationships, the humour the excellent dialog/writing. It would have been a 10 if the women hadn't all been bimbos/fashion models instead of real people, except for Diana and Elizabeth!

Excellent

Excellent series but I get so irritated when so many characters I engage with are killed or otherwise disappear. I know it's the way things go for film-makers, actors careers etc but it still irritates me.

The Third Day (2020)

Strange but riveting
21 October 2020
I've now watched the first three episodes and want to react before watching the next three. I must say it was very, very strange but very, very alluring viewing. Jude Law was absolutely magnificent, as in fact he always is but here he was just so good. Peculiar camera shots, reality lapses and all sorts of funny things but for Jude Law's performance alone I really enjoyed it. Still not sure about the "meaning" but am not worried about that too much! The next day! So now I've watched the next three episodes and my judgement remains. I can really understand why some people don't appreciate this. We all have really different tastes. But i found it compelling to use a word I don't normally use! In parts so exciting that I had to pause and do something else for a few minutes before continuing. The ending was a little disappointing but I don't know how else it could have ended really. The reality that was created was very gripping and as usual I managed to work in an allegory to some things in our real world! Don't watch if all you want is a straight forward horror movie though!

Excellent

I didn't expect much from season 5 and so waited before watching it. But I'm so glad I did watch eventually. There was so much more to the story that widened the perspective of the characters and life in general. Great acting. Helen was mesmerizing. Watch the whole 5 seasons in one go if you can!
