Mayday (2005 TV Movie)
7/10
Not bad, not bad at all
3 October 2005
Given the fact that its a made for TV B-movie, it was pulled off nicely. Many complain about the realism, but how many action movies depict an actual decompression semi-accurately? At least they acknowledged that oxygen deprivation will kill or render a person unconscious. Besides that, its not an action movie like many other airplane movies. What intrigued me is the moral and ethical struggle posed. This is what the movie is trying to say, that every day things depicted in the movie can actually happen. How many already have and been covered up in such a way? As for the quirks, it was amusing to see Dean Cain in an antagonist role for once, but the so called "navy headquarters" was reminiscent of a WW2 battle room.

Exciting for a B Grade movie
13 September 2004
I'm a big fan of B movies, just interests me what the producers can pull off with limited budget and what kind of stock footage they steal, or the obvious video game cgi thats overlaced into the video.

This movie however has something that other B movies lack. A fairly descent and slightly more believable plot then the recent James Bond movies. Lundgren somewhat performs much better than his other features. It's fun to see Montel in this type of role. Keep an eye out on the dramatic Bruckheimer-like ending sequence, they pulled it off quite well.

Other than that, its definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of action movies, B movies, or Lundgren.

Air Rage (2001 Video)
my weekly paycheck exceeds the budget of this movie..and im unemployed
21 April 2004
Warning: Spoilers
ok lets see where do I start, I love watching action b-movies because I like to see what they can do with a low budget, and to get a laugh out of the stolen stock footage and poor acting but this movie takes the cake.

What we have here is a poor clone of Executive Decision.

SPOILERS: Standard plot, terrorists take over the plane, a unit is sent to eliminate them. Predictably, just like in Executive Decision, our hero team uses an air hatch to transfer to the 747. Yet what is the most surprising thing is that they didn't use the Executive Decision footage of that scene, rather it looked like a computer merging since the resolution and color saturation of the 747 far exceeded the SR-71. Anyways back to elite unit of commandos who in a real gunfight would shoot each others heads off with their positioning. They make their way into the plane and attack the terrorists with a deadly barrage of.....handguns. And the battle ensues as the good guys shoot 2 times and hide, then the terrorists shoot 2 times and hide, then the good guys shoot 2 times and hide, etc.. until this intense battle ends when the terrorists decide instead of ducking they will wait for the good guys to come out and shoot them, which they did all at once, yet for some reason there are no bullet holes or blood stains on the commandos.

Lucky for us, our main hero Ice-T is alive and only his leg is wounded, but in his poor attempt to act, he gasps for air as if he had run a 2 hour marathon. But wait.. a stewardess saves the day and they prepare to land. But wait, the bad guy has revived so he gets thrown out of an open door at 30,000 feet and clings at the door while a fog machine covers him with fog to simulate clouds. Yet at 30,000 ft the stewardess leans outside and closes the door without any problems or gusts of wind disturbing her clothes. As if that was not bad enough, it could have been a good scene had she pretended to be "scared" and closed the door as if she was at 30,000 feet instead of a stationary plane on the ground. Whats that called....oh yea...ACTING!

And as we approach the runway with all this turbulence shaking the plane, from the inside it looks as if they're on one of the most smoothest flights. The least they could have done is shake the camera star trek style. I understand that the budget is bad, but this movie is so bad they overlook the smallest details which dont cost them anything. My rating - action:0, comedy:0, unintentional comedy:10. Watch only if you need a good laugh.

The Recruit (2003)
few twists here and there
22 March 2004
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS: fairly interesting but lacks something, Burke seemed content with his status and job and we are never given an explanation as to why he turned except the "required villain speech before shooting the good guy". Furthermore there are some technicality issues like the USB drive. If Langley computers are workstations without disk drives then they shouldnt have USB connections exactly for that reason as well. the usb key thing was a bit primitive as well, they should have used the cool watches with USB storage integrated within the watch strap.

Heres another idea for the ending. Suppose EVERYTHING up until the end was a test to see how Clayton would handle such a situation. shooting of Burke with blood packs etc. I thought thats what they were leaning towards to in the end when the agent said "You were born to do this" I expected him to say "you passed the final test" or something along those lines and see Burke pass by him in a car smiling at Clayton. That would have been a good ending.

Starts out as a serious action movie...
4 November 2003
However degrades into cliches and meaningless action. This movie doesnt take itself seriously. We see thousands of rounds being shot off with very very few people being killed, coutless matrix-like fight sequences, and enough cliches to make what should have been a one hour movie into two hours. The plot is interesting, the action is great. However there is too much of it. The characters are stereotypical and you wouldnt expect them to do the things they do, or say the things they say in real life. This is what makes a movie with such potential as "The Rock" deteriorate into a two hour long MTV style music video like Charlie's Angels.

Antitrust (2001)
Anyone thirsty for Pepsi?
6 September 2001
Fairly average movie, takes plots from a couple of others. Interesting how they made Tim look like Bill Gates but the most annoying thing was the pepsi plugs. How much money did pepsi shell out in this movie for advertising. I mean every single shot that calls for someone to drink something, it always happens to be pepsi.

Thrill Seekers (1999 TV Movie)
9/10
Very good
23 February 2001
Despite its low budget and production and unlike many other time travel movies this one deals with the consequences which are believable. You will find yourself sympathizing with both the "good guys" and the "bad guys" who are just doing their job in preventing change in time. Suppose you stop a plane from crashing which had a person aboard who would later plot to kill thousands of people, or save a person from a car accident who would later have a negative impact on life. If we had the technology to go back, would we save the victims from the titanic, or the hundreds of plane crashes that have claimed thousands of lives. Sure if you think about it that would be a good idea but at the long run you are facing a population crisis and the people who are supposed to be dead are changing history forever.

Every action you perform has an impact, not a sudden one but in a few years it changes the course that history would have taken. This is why you can find yourself sympathizing with the bad guys who arent really depicted as bad guys in this movie. Maybe it would be wise to let nature take its course and not interfere with history because it could have devastating effects in the future.

Chill Factor (1999)
3/10
Painful to watch
23 February 2001
This ranks at about 4 on my worst 10 list. The movie suffers because there is really no character development. It's like were put in a middle of an action movie with bad guys chasing good guys and thats it. Capt. Andrew Brynner's transformation into an evil character literally takes place in just under 5 seconds where we see a shot of him going into a prison and coming out 10 years later. We see major characters that have a great effect on the movie like Colonel Vitelli midway through the movie without any explanation other then that he served with Brynner. The movie suffers and several cliches are thrown out just for the sake of it since this can be classified as one of those monotonous action movies without any flare to it.

No lasers, no ships, no invincible aliens, They have already taken over without us knowing...
22 February 2001
This was one of the best sci-fi alien takeover movies that I have seen simply for the fact that the plot was great. You wont find many aliens blasting lasers or their ships in this one, but you will find a plot that does not insult you. Charlie Sheen plays in one of his best roles.
