Whoa
12 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a heck of a movie. It only got a 7 from me because of the last scenario which had no place being in the movie. It was ridiculous and there is no proof it ever even happened. The rest of the movie was interesting. Hunters and experienced hikers go missing under mysterious circumstances without a trace ever being found. People who are familiar with an area go missing, sometimes they have difficulty walking and they are just gone. Items show up in areas that had already been searched many times. People who know what they are doing go missing, but then do or don't do unexplainable things. No calls for help, no firing their gun as a signal, leaving behind food, having tea within eyesight of rescue, yet don't try to get help.

Definitively worth watching.

Moral of the story, if you are in the backwoods or forest, don't become separated.

Not bad
18 October 2020
I looked at the reviews before watching this and thought it was going to be really bad, but the wife and I watched it anyways. I found it to be a decent movie. I liked that something happened in almost every scene and although the ending wasn't great, it wasn't bad either.

If you have an hour and a half to kill check this movie out.

Better than I thought
17 October 2020
I saw it was a 4.8 and thought it would be really bad, it was better than I thought. It did leave some questions unanswered like,"Why?" But I found it enjoyable.

Long, slow, boring and uneventful

Terrible movie, it became a challenge for my wife and I to just finish, but like Pitt in this movie, we were determined to do so. This movie is so long and slow that it feels like a ride to Neptune.

Long, slow, boring and anticlimatic
25 January 2020
It started off seeming like it was going to gradually build up into something, but it didn't. I figured the ending would be really dramatic and it isn't. It was hard to what the actors are saying also. I gave it a 2 because the acting was very good.

I actually like it
15 June 2019
Saw this on tv last night, didn't know what to expect, but I actually liked it. The plot was predictable and it moved at a slow pace, but in the end, it was a worthwhile movie.

Warning: Spoilers
This seemed like the type of movie that was going to run out of ideas fast and it did. We all knew that the dad was going to show up and the daughter's bf was going to be a complete opposite of what the dad is. After being shown around the house I was wondering, "Okay, where does the movie go from here?" I knew the bf was going to save the dad's business, it was obvious.

I don't know much about James Franco, but it was hard for me to watch a guy who is almost 40 (the movie said he was 32) act like a 25 year old. His cussing got old and I felt he just wasn't a good fit for the part. There was no chemistry between him or his gf. The dad being annoyed just didn't feel real enough and it felt like some scenes were put in there just to take up time, i.e the bathroom scene was dragged out and so was the sex scene (just do the wife and get it over with).

I felt the scenes were too predictable and so was the plot. It tried to hard to be funny. Maybe it was a funnier movie in theaters, but watching it at home it flopped.

One of the best films I have seen
12 June 2019
Before my wife and I had kids we went to the movies several times a week to watch whatever came out. Once our kids were old enough to be left home alone we realized that most movies now stink and has ruined our bi/tri weekly trips to the theater, that being said, I absolutely loved this film. Some parts were a little hard to understand, but overall it was excellent. Every scene was so relevant well done, I loved every character and the plot so much I decided to read the book.

Still bad in 2019

Warning: Spoilers
Watched this with the wife last night, we knew it was going to be bad and we actually enjoy watching bad movies just to ridicule them. Kinda like our own Mystery Science Theater 3000. The best thing about this movie is that there is so much to make fun of.

No one in this movie seemed to care. Eric LaSalle's mom dies and he does some ridiculous hand motions in slow motion to show his sorrow. Brittney Murphy's lips made her look like some type of Joker character at times, like others have said, she looked very thin and sick. Everyone says their lines like they just don't care. Ever work at a job for too long and you get to the point where you just don't care anymore, that's the way the lines were delivered. The earthquake in Washington D.C. brings down the Washington Monument and everyone is talking and acting like it is just another average earthquake, no big deal. Murphy's character talks about the Northridge earthquake (which was a real shaker for those of us who went through it) as a 6.9, it was a 6.7, a world renowned seismologist should know this. She says she lost a lot of friends in it, not to minimize deaths, but only 57 people died, (72 if you include heart attacks and Valley Fever) with most deaths at one apartment complex, yet the movie makes it seem like there were a massive amount of deaths. The odds of someone living in Colorado knowing a lot of people who died in the Northridge quake are pretty slim, but for all we know, she may have grown up in So Cal, she would have been 17 at the time. I didn't know anyone who has died in an earthquake I have gone through not only Northridge, but several other big quakes as well.

Something I have not seen in the other reviews is about the little girl in the movie. She is about 5 or 6 years old and in one day goes through a major earthquake in Washington D.C., a plane crash (how did she end up in the bushes about 100 yards away from the plane?), is chased by an earthquake in a truck while everything around her is exploding and acts as if it is just another day.

Either way, watch this for the entertainment of it being a bad movie, for some reason the ending kinda reminded me of "Killdozer" and I don't know why, maybe it was the bad special effects.
