Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Insanely Amazing! Even better than Endgame
Spider-Man has never been one of my favourite Marvel hero. This film change it all. The story, the cast, the jokes, the summer love, the action, everything in this movie are insanely amazing and a great ride. Even better than Endgame. Thanks Sony and Disney for playing well together and brought Spider-Man so much more value and important within the MCU. And guys, if you're a Marvel nerd like many of us, stay through the mid-credit and end-credit. So so important for future of MCU.
Endgame didn't end that well with nothing to look forward to. But Spider-man saved it for the best with great anticipation for the future.
ps. I like to see Mysterio again. Do a Loki on him pls.
Fantastic Four (2015)
The worst F4 ever.
This reboot is horribly disrespectful to Marvel characters. What's the point in rebooting? Couldn't they just continue from Silver Surfer? He's alive you know. Really really disappointed.
The only reason this didn't get a 1 star is because the movie is sleek in production compare to the last 2. OMG! What did I just re-watched. Yup I did re-watch it in 2019. I must be sadistic.
4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
Silver Surfer stole the show.
The follow up to the first F4 proves to be much more entertaining and engaging, good pace, good story line and none of those cliche script unlike the first one. Seeing it again after many years didn't let me down.
Every time Silver Surfer appears, I'm mesmerised by his movement and body expression though he deserves a more important role than merely just a scouter for Galactus. Didn't do enough justice for him and Galactus to be honest. And that gas giant as Galactus is a big no no.
Doug Jones played Silver Surfer deserves a massive applause. But the voice of Silver Surfer by Laurence Fishburne just sounded weird for the character. Could have just used Doug's voice and would fit better in my humble view.
I hope now that F4 is back in the Disney/Marvel family, we can truly do justice for Silver Surfer and Galactus again. Laurence Fishburne as Galactus... now we're talking. They are so important for us Marvel fans. And please cast Doug Jones again, this time including his voice.
Fantastic Four (2005)
It wasn't bad like most think.
I had good fun rewatching it again 14 years later. Wouldn't say WOW but it was OK. Not fond of how the story flowed and some of the corny scripts and the delivery... cringed moments for me.
Maybe now that Kevin Feige has become so massive with MCU and this title is back in his play chest, he can re-do this and take it up to the MCU status. I love to see that. Chris Evans to reprise Human Torch perhaps?
Just grateful to whoever had the vision to do this. Thank you whoever you are.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Too much focus on wrapping up heroes and pulling the 11 years curtain down.
A love story to end all the 6 original heroes was an unexpected story telling brilliance. Cap wielding Mjölnir, awesome. Cap gotta live a full life with Peggy, awesome. Professor Hulk pretending to smash in NY, awesome. Fat Thor, awesome. Iron Man married with Pepper and a kid, awesome. Iron Man died saving everyone (asides from the rat and Ken Jeong who are the true heroes), awesome.
I love the the whole MCU franchise, the characters, story telling and all, but I want to be honest about Endgame.
Solely from a movie entertainment perspective, it's not entertaining like Infinity War, Civil War, Guardians Vol.1 & 2, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ragnarok or even Avatar (since everyone is raving about beating that movie). I walked out feeling satisfied and grateful they did justice wrapping up all 6 characters honourably except Black Widow (she just like died there and that's that WHAT!), but also feeling extremely unsatisfied asking myself "So, now what?". The whole 3 hours are mostly about how to close the 6 heroes arc properly while peppering in killing Thanos and bringing the rest back.
I know the studio made a call to give this Infinity Saga a respectful bowing out and curtains down moment by not having any future tease, but as a movie goer and MCU fan, I much prefer to know what I will get next instead of a that's it we're done moment. It's like they are telling me OK... now you can go chase other franchise cos Marvel is finished. We're done. Thanks for following us for 11 years and now you can go.
Endgame left me with both emotions - happy they did justice to the story/heroes arc, disappointed they left me alone with nothing else to hope for next.
