Mahaguru justify immortal creation of Kabiguru
22 December 2023
Kabuliwala, an adaptation of short story of Rabindranath Tagore which depicts an emotional bonding between a five years old Bengali child with an Afghan Kabuliwala. Mithun Chakraborty has played the role of an Afghan Kabuliwala, Rahamat. Mithun in one word eats the role. His depiction as Rahamat is extraordinary. He has shuttered the performances of great Chabi Biswas and Balraj Sahani who times to time portrayed the same role. Last ten minutes is brillant when Mini on the date of her marriage can not recognise her very own Kabuliwala whom she maintains an eternal bonding of loves in her child hood. Last ten minutes are so much impactful, you can remember it for immortal times. Direction and music are good. Other co actors justify their roles. But again 74 years old Mithun proves , he can justify any types of role. Really Mahaguru can only justify creation of Kabiguru.

Bagha Jatin (2023)

Real and Reel Both Bengal Tigers are roaring
22 October 2023
Bhagha Jatin named as Jatindranath Mukherjee is one of the prominent freedom fighters of our Country. Jatindranath Mukherjee killed a tiger in almost bare hand and popularly named as Bagha Jatin and even almost three decades before Subhas Chandra Bose , Bagha Jatin thought to free India with the help of German who was as usual opponent of British in the First World War. But he was not succeed and sacrificed his life just at the age of thirty five for the freedom of our mother land. Now popular Bengali actor Dev brings life of Bhagha Jatin in Silver screen in both Bengali and Hindi version. It is an undoubtedly great attempt by the Actor Dev who is also a producer of the film. Work and sacrifices of Bhagha Jatin superbly portrayed in the screen. As an actor Dev almost single handedly shoulders this film .He is good enough in building emotion and his strong Zone of execution of action, he is superb particularly action scenes against British loyals as well as against tiger. The films contain various massy elements where this mass superstar truly eats it. Music as well as Background music are extremely good. In Bengal, there is always constraints of budget due to lower market level, so VFX may be better. But as an actor and producer Dev has given his 200 percent. This film should be seen by not only every Bengalees but also every Indian.

Bad Boy (2023)

Good Boy
29 April 2023
Bad boy is actually story of a good boy. Debutant Namashi never looks like a bad boy in the whole film. His expression is very cute, looks innocent, bears an eternal peace in his face in the whole movie. But it is not enough to make a successful film. The story is quite similar to Eighties or Nineties family drama where a poor , failure boy in every sense felt love with a girl of completely vice versa category. Girls' father tried his best to protect his girl from that worthless bad boy. But the boy has every tricks to break that barrier. If you see this film in late eighties or early Nineties you may call it Maine Pyaar Kiya. But now technology changed, science changed, time changed and obviously Cinema changed. So Namashi, Amrin, Saswata, Jony Lever,Rajesh Sharma all looks outdated. Johny Lever comedy, you may think that he has just come after completing Bazigar. Himesh music is good but not his best. But Legend can break this time barrier, Ten second appearance of Mithun Chakraborty proves if you are a legend you can stop the speed of the time. But rest are not so Rajkumar Santoshi's this venture seems to very average by considering this era. Namashi and Amrin have to prepare themselves very well to get attention in future. Hope for the best next time.

The Mithun Chakraborty Show
9 January 2023
Projapati is a film of relationship. Relationship between father and son, relationship between old friends. The screenplay in the first half is gripping. Mithun Chakraborty tried his level best to arrange marriage for his only son Dev, who is a wedding planner. But on the course of arranging marriage of his son, Mithun found his old friend Mamata Shankar. Now the dimension of story is changed. Unfortunately second half is dipping due to too much characters bur unfortunately most of them are underdeveloped. Performance wise Kharaj Mukherjee, Ambarish, Mamata Shankar, Dev justified with their roles. New comer Sweata did good job. But Mithun Chakraborty ultimately steals the show. He is fabulous in both comedy and tragedy. His pairing with Mamata Shankar after 46 years of Mrinal Sen's classic Mrigaya made you Nostalgic. Music is good. Portraying of Benaras in the film is praiseworthy. It is definitely one time watchable particularly for Mithun, who again proved that age doesn't matter for a natural actor.

Last solo hit of Mithun in Bollywood
22 June 2022
Ironically Suraksha was the first solo hit of Mithun Chakraborty released on 22 nd June, 1979 and last solo hit of Mithun was released on same month and almost in same week date 28 th June , 1995 named as Ravan Raaj. Mithun's low budget dream factory at Ooty is recognised as numerous B grade films which falls just after release without showing any trace. But Ravan Raaj is an exception. Mithun's typical action, Biju Shah's catchy music, T Rama Rao's good direction proves to be stand out in a thriller based screenplay. Ravan Raaj is a typical story of crime and corruption. Auto Kesariya played by Shakti Kapoor assigned the tasks of kidnapping and organ trafficking with the help of minister Charan Das played by Paresh Rawal and Dr Amir Verma played by Aditya Pancholi. As expectation ACP Arjun Verma played by Mithun shoulders the responsibility to destroy that racket with help of his love interest Journalist Gayatri played by Madhu. As a thriller film, this film has also some scenes which creates suspense among audiences like Mithun's raid in Shakti Kapoor's den where police dog identified the wall where lots of skeletons are inserted and Mithun's Police Jeep broke the wall and suddenly series of exskelons come out from the wall or the killing of Paresh Rawal and his wife by his servant in his own home. The last scene and sudden appearance of Aditya Pancholi also creates moments in the film. More or less film is able to maintain suspense in parts. Performance wise Mithun as usual steals the show. Shakti Kapur , Paresh Rawal and Aditya Pancholi are good. Madhu gets more screen space than usually other heroines get screen space in any Mithun's film during that time. But apart from Mithun, music is the most important saving grace of that film. Mithun's dream run in Bollywood virtually ends with this film. Later some solo films of Mithun in Bollywood like Jallad, Sher- E - Hindustan, Chandal, Shapath do better in some circuits but they are semi hit or Average. Though Actor Mithun is still alive in Bollywood but superstardom of Mithun ends with Ravan Raaj.

Average thriller with predictive end
19 February 2022
Best Seller is an Average thriller where you can easily guess the end within fifty percent of its run time. Story is simple. An ambitious but less talented author used a true Story of a family in his books and which easily becomes a best seller. But the impact is such which almost ruins that family. Now the brother and sister duo of that family make a plan to get revenge against that author. Too much unfolding of suspence too early make the best seller highly predictive from the first episode itself. But still you can watch it upto last episode due to sound performance of all the casts. Perfomence of Arjan Bajwa as ambitious author Tahir Wajir is good. Gauahar Khan as Tahir's wife is fantastic. Bother Sister duo Satyajeet Dubey and Shruti Hassan as Parha Acharya and Meetu Mathur fulfill the needs of the script. But as a central character Shruti Hassan should be better because she got the ample scope with different shades in the Webseries. But ultimately Mithun Chakraborty as ACP Lokesh Pramanik steals the show. His style of acting , comic timing, emotions grip the Webseries particularly in the latter half. Though there is a reflection of Anil Kapoor and Samira Reddy's role of race in Mithun and Sonali Kulkarni's role in this web series. Slow starter Best Seller gets the momentum when Mithun enters the series in the third episode. But still it is strictly average with predictive end. The series highly justified one of the dialogue of that series which indicates end is fixed before the starting of a book.

Sabka ka Maalik Ek Hain
17 November 2020
Aakhri Gulam is a regular eighties action flick directed by Shibu Mitra.Anupam Kher, a powerful Jamindar believes that men work under him should be considered as his slaves means Gulam.Annu Kapoor one of his loyal slave gives that same responsibility of gulami to his son Mithun during his dead. But Mithun during the course of his repeated actions of gulami understands from a noble man that Almighty God is above all and all we are the gulams under Him only. This realisation makes Mithun to make him independent from the Gulami of Anupam Kher.In the end Anupam Kher also realizes that he is also a common man and can not be considered as Maalik and makes marriage of his daughter with Mithun. Though script, acting, music, screenplay are all strictly average but the particular song Maalik Mere Honton Pe Sabke sung by Yesudas which helps transformation of Mithun is the only saving grace of this film. The film is having a same day release with Blockbuster Tridev, can be seen ones for that eternal message sabka Malik Ek Hain.Apart from God no body claims that he is the master or maalik of some one.

Super Dancer
27 October 2020
Not exact sequel of Disco Dancer but another prominent film of Disco era.Hatric hit from Mithun, Bappi and B.Subhash combo after Disco Dancer and Kasam Paida Karnewala Ki. Story is a combination of Western music and Bollywood's traditional masala.Mithun and Smita became orphan and Shelter less in their child hood due to mishap with their Parents when they participated in a musical programme organised by Amrish Puri and he was responsible for that mishap. Now the Sister and Brother duo find dance come from their heridity is the only weapon to get rid from that catastrophe. So they started to dance Agaya agaya haluabala agaya in the street and make pennies for their bread and butter.Their struggle to establish themselves as Super Dancers as well as revenge against Amrish Puri are the main story line of the film 'Dance Dance'.Screen Play , Direction are average.Performence wise Mandakini as Mithun's love interest gets enough screen space and two outstanding solo well sang by Alisha picturised on her.Smita's tragic death in her real life affects the script upto some extent particularly in the second half.Shakti Kapur and Amrish Puri are okey.Shakti's shaking legs with Mithun and Amrish Puri's using of musical instrument before conducting henious works easily mingle with this revenge musical drama.Bappi Lahiri again at his best. After Bijoy Benedict, here he launched Alisha and her Mera Dil Gaya ja Juby Juby was a big hit.Besides that Super Dancer, Haluabala agaya were all chartbusters. Now the Mithun Chakraborty. He alone shoulders the film with his Dance, action and emotion. In the last song he pours all his anger, emotion, grevances through his electrifying steps. But still choreography could be better particularly for a film which is based on dance.Overall a must watch film for all Mithun's fans.

A Thriller ahead of its time
27 October 2020
Avinash directed by Umesh Mehra can easily be defined as one of the classic thriller of mid eighties.Prem Chopra does Anti-national Activities with the help of Tom Alter. They have also made a secret plan to destroy the various parts of the country. This plan is recorded by the pilot of chopper of Prem Chopra. But Prem Chopra knows the facts and sent his goons to find out the video clip by killing the chopper pilot.Chopper pilot is killed by the goons in front of Mithun who is performing a dance number in a Disco club to celebrate his brothers birthday. But during the course of killing that chopper pilot who is actually a secret agent hide that video clip in a musical drum in presence of Mithun. But Mithun is unknowing about that facts. But Premchopra and his goons think that Mithun is knowing the facts of hiddening that video clip so they attack Mithun's house and killed his mother , injured his brother and fiance played by Poonam Dhillon.Mithun is also heavily beaten by the goons to death but he is saved by a drunken Doctor. But Mithun has lost his memory. Now the thriller begins, on one hand Prem Chopra and his goons try to acquire video clip from Mithun and on other hand Mithun tries to search his loose identity.Due to amnesia Mithun completely forgets his fiance Poonam Dhillon but the goons take that advantage and place Parveen Babi and then Bindiya Goswami as love interest of Mithun to acquire that video clip. What is the actual identity of Mithun, is he able to gain his memory again, is it possible to save the country from Prem Chopra and his goons, is Poonam Dhillon able to establish herself as fiance of Mithun; All these questions will be answered in this 2 hours 14 minutes film. The thriller is very well executed.Screenplay and Direction are above average.Performence wise Mithun as Avinash is brilliant, he alone shoulders the films.Parveen Babi and Poonam Dhillon are good in their screen presence. It is known from sources Parveen Babi left the film Industry during the shooting of that film.It is also evident from the film where Parveen Babi suddenly faces a burnt death and her faces are not disclosed during the dearh scene. But surprise package of this film is Bindiya Goswami. She looks gorgeous and steals the show among the heroines.Music by Bappi Lahiri is strictly average. Two sad versions of Jaaga Soya Pyar Yeh Mera and Disco number Teri jo Khushi are good. But the only drawback of the film is poor editing particularly during the concluding part of the film.It is no doubt that Avinash is a good thriller film ahead of its time and one of the less known film of Mithun which deserves more than its actual reception.

Family drama at its best
2 July 2020
Two Power House of Bollywood Mithun and Jeetendra came together first time in K.Bapaiah's excellent family drama Swarg Se Sunder.Story starts with a happy family where Vijay( Jeetendra) lives with his wife Lakshmi (Jayaprada) and younger brother Ravi(Mithun). But drama begins when Ravi weds Lalitha(Padmini Kolapuri). Lalitha's Father ( played by Kader Khan) and maternal uncle( played by Prem Chopra) who are not happy with Vijay ( an honest mukhia of the village) always make conspiracy to divide the Vijay's family. But bonding between Laxmi and Lalitha was so strong that even Laxmi gave her own child to Lalitha when Lalitha faces miscarriage during her child birth. But ultimately conspiracy wins, Lalitha's parents and maternal uncle become succeed to divide Vijay's family. But at the end Ravi understood the conspiracy and regained the family together by giving tough lesson to the parents and maternal uncle of the Lalitha.Story and screen play both are good. Some scenes are extraordinary particularly in that scene where Vijay divides the property in two parts and in one part he keeps everything and in another part he sits alone and gives chance to his brother Ravi to select any of the one.The Perfomence of actors in that scene and execution of that scene are fantastic.Performence wise Both the actresses give a splendid Perfomence. In some scenes Jaya looks as a symbol of Indian Beauty. Jeetendra as an elder brother gives a mature perfomence.Mithun is definitely at one of his best, in climax scenes he looks extraordinary in both action and emotion.Combo of Prem Chopra and Kader Khan are good as usual.Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal is average but justify the scripts.Above all a good family drama at its best.

Well Executed Family Drama
7 June 2020
Mithun Chakraborty is regarded as one of the most successful hero of Bollywood in eighties. It is mainly due to his success in some memorable family drama of that decade like Ghar Ek Mandir, Swarg se Sundar, Aisa pyar Kaha, Parivaar etc.Pyar ka Mandir is another good inclusion in that list.Story is simple.A family with three brothers and a sister lived happily along with their widow mother in a house called temple of love or Pyaar ka Mandir.Mithun sacrifices his life for the higher education of his elder and younger brother, marriage of her younger sister. To save that temple of love Mithun even took imprisonment for 7 years. But when he returned from jail, he found his temple of love is devastated. His brothers become rich and so selfish and power hunger that they force their mother to work as a labour. Now again struggle of Mithun started to rebuild their temple of love. Story and Screenplay are okay.Direction is good.Combination of Mithun and K.Bapaiah work well on that time. This is also not an exception.Performence wise Nirupa Roy as a mother gives satisfactory performance in her two dimensional role, one as a happy mother and another as a suffering mother.Madhavi as Mithun's love interest is just okay.Raj Kiran , Sachin and Soma Anand as Mithun's brothers and sisters justify the scripts.Villain gang under the leadership of Shakti Kapoor give descent job.Kader Khan as forgetful Doctor give you popcorn breaks. But again Mithun Chakraborty steals the show.In the scene where he found his mother as a labour, he proves he is an ocean of emotion. His meeting with his ungrateful brothers in consecutive scenes make you speech less.Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal is Praiseworthy.Aye Duniya Tujhko Salam is one of the best combination of Mithun and Kishore.Log Jahan Par Rahata Hain in both normal and sad version put an impact.Overall Pyaar Ka Mandir, a clear solo hit from Mithun Chakraborty.

Parivaar (1987)

Classic Family Entertainer
16 May 2020
One of the prominent film of Mithun Chakraborty in eighties.Shashilal K.Nair directed Parivaar is a family drama film.Mithun, a poor street performer, lives with two orphan children, a dog and a monkey. They all struggle a lot to get daily necessities for their Parivaar.Twist in film comes when a young girl, played by Meenakshi Sheshadri removes from her father-in-law home by her cruel mother in law played by Aruna Irani and Husband played by Shakti Kapoor. Meenakshi also gets her shelter in Mithun's family. The film is ended with the revenge of Mithun and his family against Meenakshi's husband and mother-in-law.Some scenes of the film make you speechless.Particularly in those scenes where Mithun gives one of orphan child to a rich parents for better future of that child. In this way there are lots of scenes in the film where you can not keep your tears.Performence wise both the child artist Master Markand as Bittu and Baby Guddu as Bobby have done their jobs. All the pets use in the film give full support to the film.Mithun gives one of his best performance in relation to Hindi commercial films.Meenakshi has also delivered a powerful Perfomence. Her dancing ability is proved in the song Ram Bhakt Hanuman.Direction and Screenplay both are fine.Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal is average.Madari song picturised on Mithun is best in the lot.More or less Parivaar can easily considered as one of the classic Family entertainer of eighties.

Powerpacked Perfomence
10 February 2020
It was 1993.Mithun just left Mumbai to ooty and started his dream factory of releasing films one after another. The formula behind the making of these films were very simple.Low budget films with low paid supporting actors and actresses subsequently shooting of films were done around Hotel of Mithun situated at ooty.Film was made within month and ready for release. Two weeks run in Bengal and in traditional Hindi Belt were enough to recover the money.Besides that cast and crew of the film would reside in Mithun's Hotel at subsidy provide double profit for both Mithun and Producer. But in this junction three time National Award winner has given some films which are still worth to watch.Phool Aur Angaar is among one of them.A simple revenge story will be remembered for awesome Music and Mithun's Powerful Performence.Mithun Chakraborty, Professor of a College faced henious crime and conspiracy from the goons led by Prem Chopra , Arjun and Pares Rawal. Mithun's sister was brutally raped and murdered by the goons and Mithun was made guilty for that.In the Second half of the film Mithun got the revenge.Performence of Mithun was simply power-packed.His action, emotion made you spellbound.Acting of Mithun in some scenes were spectacular, particularly in a Court scene where tired, heavily wounded Mithun who saw henious crime against her Sister still protested against the false allegations made against him in the Court by the goons. Music by Anu Malik was extra ordinary.Songs like Chori Chori Dil Tera Churaange or Mujko Pina Hain were the Chartbusters.South Indian Actress Shantipriya looks good pairing with Mithun.Prem Chopra, Paresh Rawal and Arjun in negative roles are okay. If you are a Mithun's fan, Phool Aur Angaar is definitely a Perfect ten film for you.

More than a film.....
5 February 2020
Memorable come back of Mithun Chakraborty in the Film 'The Taskent File' after long interval.A Vivek Agnihotri film 'The Taskent File' is based on mysterious death of Lal Bahadur Sastri, 2nd Prime Minister of India in Taskent, former USSR just after signing the Peace agreement with Pakistan.Apart from raising some relevant questions regarding the mysterious death of Sastriji, this film critically deals with Indo-Soviet relationship and consequently the approach of Congress, Communist Party, KGB during sixties and seventies which was considered as high time of USSR. Political concept developed in this Film may not be universally accepted or may be considered as unidirectional but Agnihotri is successful to explore some hidden truths from which our generation is completely unware.Subhas, Sastri and so many unsung forgotten heroes are there, without them modern India could not be developed. Agnihotri atleast explore some portion of those. Some People may call it Political Propaganda, but if this film is propaganda than what you call those Bollywood films which are based on unnecessary irrelevant dance, action and so on. Apart from Mithun, Shewta and Pallavi are fantastic.Nasir and Pankaj are extraordinary in their small appearance. There are lot of scenes in this film which make you speechless. But particularly in the scene where Mithun gives his five minutes speech on different types of terrorist or in the climax when Shewta is almost trembling to express her views on unnatural death of Sastriji make you spellbound. Most importantly Mithun and Nasir, ideologically two socialists accept such a film where Shewta can raise a question regarding inclusion of Socialism in Indian Constituency. This is our democracy and for the sake of democracy, please watch this film at least ones.If you are not agree with the content, you may make ten films against it, no problem. In conclusion, When Agnihotri is there, lots of traffic jams will happen in future, which helps young generation to explore various alternatives to find out the right path.

Powerful Perfomence in a low budget flick
31 January 2020
Mithun Chakraborty is not only an originator of modern trend in Bollywood but also the Master of executing low budget flick.Prem Pratigyaa is one of the perfect example of it. Director of the film Bapu is a renowned film maker who usually deals with Social problems at down trodden belt. Previously he made two classics with Mithun i.e Hum Panch and Pyari Bahana.Story, Screen play, direction, sets of Prem Pratigyaa are simple which depicts a love story of a bad guy who later turns into a good responsible guy due to Love. The film is shoot in a limited sphare with limited expenditure. But the major grace point of the film are power packed Perfomence from the lead actors. It is one of the best performence of Madhuri in her early days and she is also nominated for best actress category in Filmfare award.Satis Koushik as Mithun's companion, Ranjit as villain, Vinod Mehra as Professor all justify the scripts. Mithun's expression , intense of acting are superb. In the scene where Mithun rescued Madhuri from Ranjit , his expression and dialogue delivery is completely different when Mithun is bleeded with Ranjit but not to take revenge against Ranjit due to his word to Madhuri. This proves versatileness of Mithun even in a low budget flick. In the song Sheesha ki umra, Mithun's put all his pain, grevances, frustration in his dance moves. Here dance is not a a mere dance ,it is a weapon to tell your feelings.A superstar gives his everything in a comparatively low budget movie and makes the movie hit and this is the speciality of Mithun. Music by Bappi Lahiri is good. Two songs specially Pyaar Kabhi Kam nahi karna and Sheesha ki umro Pyaar ki become Superhit. This film is certainly remembered as one of the best in both Mithun and Madhuri's career. Three 'M' i.e Mithun, Madhuri and Music make the film eight out of ten.

Mithun's Best
29 January 2020
K.C.Bokadia waits for two years to release that film because no one wants to buy that film. The reason is simple, Mithun is the hero of the film but in the film there is no dance number, there is no action!A Mithun film without dance and action is not digestible to Distributors.Eventually K.C.Bokadia himself released the film and a Sixty Lakh film earns Nine Corore and registered on of the biggest hit in 1985.Mithun breaks the ice and a hero of front stall becomes the hero of intellectuals.Mithun becomes the first Bengali Superstar of Bollywood. Now the story , a complete frame to frame copy of Pakistani film Aaina.Eventually story based on love between poor and rich and ultimately love wins the battle.Performence wise Padmini Kolapuri bags the top with her excellent performance as Mithun's love interest. Danny as a rich father of Padmini is terrific.Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal is fantastic.'Tum se milkar na Jana kiyo' in three versions in the film was evergreen. Now the Mithun Chakraborty without any Disco, without any action makes the film hit.His image breaking perfomence in this him made him the very next to whom? None other than Amitabh Bachchan.

Disco Dancer (1982)
10/10
Disco King
29 January 2020
Bengali duo Mithun and Bappi take an Indian film to International. An Indian film of early eighties make its step in Russia, China, entire Southern Asia, Middle East was not an ordinary thing when Indian film just started to take the taste of Hollywood commercial flicks.Story, Screen play, direction of Disco Dancer was nothing extraordinary. Even Director B.Subhash was not sure that Disco Bonanza made an extraordinary impact, so there was mixing of traditional typical Hindi films concept like Mother-Son emotional relationship, 'Deewar' type sentiment 'Mera BAAP/Ma Chor Hain'.Starcast was also ordinary, apart from friendly appearance of Rajesh Khanna and early venture of Om Puri, rest of the star cast was just arranged to make a film which was very much common on those days in any Mithun Film.A grade actresses were not willing to work with Mithun inspite of his success in Suraksha, Tarana, Hum Panch and Wardat. But what makes Disco Dancer, a cult classic. Two things, One is, Bappi Lahiri's Music and another is Mithun's Stepping.Dance is done with legs, not with eyes or faces(nachna paroae se hota hain aankhon se nahin). This concept was proved by Mithun, his stepping smashes out Rishi Kapoor's Choclet Dance or Jeetendra's Jumping.Mithun's stepping, pelvic movement makes him immortal Disco King in Indian Cinema. Even Mithun's action in this film simply aheads as compared to his contemporary heroes.Bappi's Composition touched the International Standerd.Bappi's Three minutes thirty seconds saga 'Jimmy Jimmy aaza' was undoubtedly the first International Hit from Indian Cinema.Rest of the songs including 'I am a Disco Dancer' with Mithun's signature style were all super Hits'.Dance and music of this film definitely ahead of its times. This film changed the journey of Bollywood Cinema.Mithun established himself as first Hollywood based Dancer and action Hero of Bollywood and Bappi another immortal king in Disco music in Indian Cinema. This film was not at all similar to Hindi films of that time. So Indian audience and critics were not happy initially with this film.So success of Disco Dancer was far more in Russia than in India. But Disco Dancer gave two eternal Disco King of Indian Cinema Mithun and Bappi. This film may have various heal and hop but it deserves a perfect 10 for Bappi's bit and Mithun's step.
