Road House (2024)

It's exactly what it's supposed to be.
28 March 2024
The first and most important thing about this movie is that it doesn't try to overthink itself. It's simple, to the point and a lot of fun. Jake as Dalton was on point, and McGreggor really did exactly what he was supposed to. He isn't an Oscar award winner, nor does he try to be; he's an over the top fighter, just like he is in real life. Some of the jokes didn't really hit, but it's not a big deal. Some of the camera angles were annoying, but that's about it. Some reviews I read complained about character development, and I think I know who all they are talking about. Those characters really didn't need to be developed as much because the movie isn't about them.

All in all, this is a straightforward movie. Not supposed to have some deep plot or some type of mystery. It's about a bar, a bartender and some people that wanna take it over. So if you take it for what it's worth, you'll definitely enjoy it. If you expect this movie to be like 'Gladiator' you're wasting your time. Please just enjoy it for what it's supposed to be.

A 2023 Review
31 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ya know, this is a good movie, something that is cool to watch on a rainy day off work. The concept is good, and there's plenty of fun scenes. But in my personal opinion it lacks because of how serious it "tries" to be. You want to care for the characters, but some of the dumb stuff they do just made me say oh well. The FBI agents were so unrealistic it wasn't even laughable. After noting that Alex didn't blow up the plane, they start watching him again after other deaths they know he's not the cause of?? They threw the movie off, as well as some egregious plot holes; but I won't spoil that if you haven't seen this movie.

Again, this isn't a bad movie, just could have been written better. A lot of entertainment value if you don't take it too seriously.

Rewatching in 2022
23 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly the only thing that really takes away from the movie is the long dance intro. It does get over the top sometimes, but for the time period it's pretty darn good. Dr. Evil is the stand out character, while Beyoncé really doesn't fit. This is one of those movies you can sit back on a chill night on a Tuesday and get plenty of laughs; as long as you let it be what it is. It's a comedy film, not 'Donnie Darko'. Mike Myers is awesome playing all the different characters in the movie. 20 years later this is still very funny.

Also I agree with a lot of these statements saying this is the 3rd best of the 3 movies.

Only 1 Real Complaint
27 October 2022
Honestly this movie is funny. I understand that ya shouldn't take it too seriously, it's supposed to be a "horror-comedy" movie. The only complaint I have is how they totally get the soldiers uniforms so wrong. I mean atleast get the lieutenants rank on her shoulders right. For a guy his age, being "Special Forces," etc. Major Tanner sure hasn't been to ANY other war outside Iraq/Afghanistan and only been promoted to Major. Outside of that, this is a pretty good movie to watch when ya just wanna relax on your off day; and again, DO NOT take this movie too seriously, it's supposed to be finny. Enjoy.

Marines vs Aliens
13 October 2022
One compliment I give this movie off the, even rewatching 11 years later, it really does a good job of portraying the Marines, their way of life, and the small things like rank, uniform, etc. Unlike some other brainless movies about the Marines. The story is pretty simple/straightforward and the character development really does work for a movie like this. You get to know everyone but the movie doesn't overthink it.

I honestly believe that there could have been a sequel made to this, just by the way it ended and the characters that were left over at the end. I'm not gonna spoil it, but there's a real opportunity that was missed.

Again, being a Marine veteran myself, I really liked this movie and appreciated how the film crew and actors/actresses took their time to get the small details correct.

Cliché to the Max

Just the soundtrack alone, all the "cued up" songs is enough to tell you the direction of the film. Ryan Reynolds is getting so predictable now, just so much of it he's not funny.

Revisiting this in 2022
7 May 2022
So after watching this on Netflix again tonight, I must say, Danny Glover is the kryptonite of this movie. He just throws it off, just doesn't look threatening. Other than that, pretty good story, with some nice action. It also isn't an over the top super sniper movie. So I recommend this for sure.

Interesting

There's hardly from the south, Bun B; but other than that, where's the south. You can go to all the states down south, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, and you got successful artist coming from there. I don't know anyone that's said to me, "oh yea lemme put on that new Rakim track." Bur I guarantee they remember alotta tracks from the Cash Money Records days in NYC. Jay Z's 'Big Pimpin' wasn't hot cause of Jay Z; it was hot cause UGK, and more specifically Pimp C (RIP). But yea, until they start recognizing what the South has done for Hip Hop/Rap I'm not trying to hear it.

The Batman (2022)
10/10
Just a lil info
16 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've read through these reviews and a vast majority of them are 7+ The ones that are below 6 are the ones I must address. This movie is dark and "glum" as some might say, because this is set as Batman's first year, a detective side of the Batman. A vulnerable side of the Bat. A side of Batman really digging into the depth of the effect his death of the parents. If you read the comics, Batman has never been an outgoing hero. What stands out about him is that he has no super powers, he's just a man; and that's what this movie is about.

Also if you go and watch the animated movies: Batman: Hush Batman: The Long Halloween Batman: Year One You can get a helpful understanding of this movie.

Spoiler alert* There is one scene in the movie where he his about to jump off a roof and then hesitated; really gives some perspective.

Death in Variety
31 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
One point I would like to make is that if you go into this movie just to see people get shot up, then you're probably gonna like this movie as much as the fans. Personally, and this just me, I see the comments about the unrealism and I must ask; do you want to just see some basic special ops predator fighting? Here's a guy who was part, got out, got disrespected, got back in, got betrayed, then got triple crossed, by this super secret ultra lethal assassin; do you think the way people are killed by him would be normal?? The fight scene with Halle Berry's character was one of the best and more realistic, because we all know she wouldn't have survived without the dogs. The camera angles, lighting, outstanding. Music synchronization to the shots being fired.

Believe me, going in the movie with an open mind will make the film a ton of a lot better. Oh and also, the movie honestly wouldn't have benefited from more dialogue, and that's not a bad thing, it just doesn't need any unnecessary talking.
