Dirty Pretty Things (2002)
This is a British Film from the BBC.
This film was produced by the BBC and two other United Kingdom companies. BBC is an acronym for British Broadcasting Company. The film has no financial links whatsoever with Hollywood or any other place in the USA. There are a lot of reviews here that are clearly by Americans who think that Hollywood is the only place in the world that makes films.
I loved the film but I used subtitling as I was missing quite a lot of the dialogue. I'm British born and bred so I can understand why some reviewers didn't understand the subtleties of the plot due to the intended use of many different international accents. I believe that here in the UK we have many more dialects than the US. Difficult to follow if you ain't from here there parts.
Try subtitling, it helped me enjoy this great film even more.
The Lost World (1998)
Probably the worst film I've ever seen
This film starts fine but once the mission to find "The Lost World" starts, it goes from not so good, to bad, to terrible and is very quickly farcical.
I would imagine that this was a box office flop and if so, I'm not surprised. Mind you, on the budget it was clearly made on, they (the Financiers) can't have lost very much money, I think my Children's pocket money for a year could have paid for better special effects.
The inaccuracy too is ludicrous. Since when did the original location of Conan Doyle's masterpiece transpose from South America to Mongolia? And since when did Mongolia look so much like Canada? If you've never seen another version of this film or read the book, you might enjoy it. Bon Chance!
