The Out-Laws (2023)

Terrible
23 July 2023
I watched because of the cast. I do not really like "stupid" funny movies. But, I like some of the actors' other projects, and thought I'd give it a try. I usually can find something funny in an Adam Sandler movie if someone else is watching it. This was from his company, so I expected it to be the stupid funny type of movie. But, nothing was funny here.

If you love movies like Ave Ventura or Dumb and Dumber, then this is probably the movie for you. If you only find the occasional gag in these types of movies funny, then this is not the movie for you. None of the gags are funny and some are grosser than expected. If you enjoy watching vomiting repeatedly (which ironically happens in the first Pitch Perfect film, also starring Adam Devine) and snot all over someone's face for far too long, then make some popcorn and sit down for this one. You'll love it.

Romance in Style (2022 TV Movie)

Refreshing Story
14 August 2022
I loved the lead actors. They had real chemistry. I wouldn't be surprised if they are a real-life couple. But, the story was great and not preachy, which can be a concern for Hallmark movies when they try to be socially aware. I am enjoying the female empowerment being center stage with the romance a half-step behind. I'm adding these two to my list of actors whose movies I always check out.

Funny and Less Predictable
26 June 2022
I love Hallmark movies, in part because of their cheesy predictability. It was a little more funny than some others. I actually laughed out loud more than once. It was nice to see the individuals be mature about their decisions and finding themselves on their own for a change. The lack of the usual instance of one of the people overhearing the worst part of a conversation taken out of context and then being upset about it was refreshing. That trope gets old. This movie was refreshing and a little different than the standard Hallmark romance.

Great Movie
13 February 2022
I usually watch Hallmark's mysteries and occasionally watch their romances. I liked the first installment of this trilogy, but I liked the added mystery of the history of the veil in this second installment. It was like a mystery and romance rolled into one.

Came for Jeremy Jordan, Stayed for the Female Friendship
14 November 2020
I am a long-time fan of Tony-Nominated Jeremy Jordan. Musicals are my jam and he's the best. I've never seen him in a role where he didn't kill it, and this movie is no exception. I thought the relationship between his character, Adam, and Melody was sweet. There was a moment where the typical "misunderstanding" was about to derail them, and then they had *gasp* an actual conversation.

But, one of the best parts of this movie is that it's not all about the romance. It was a nice surprise to see that the friendship between Melody and Nina took center stage. This movie does have more sadness than your typical Hallmark movie with the situation Nina is going through. But, there is still that uplifting feeling you come to expect from Hallmark movies.

I hope that Hallmark continues to employ Broadway stars. Jeremy Jordan is just one in the movies this season. The 2020 movie One Royal Holiday has three! Way to step up your game Hallmark!

Lighthearted Hallmark Fun
11 October 2020
This movie, of course, has all of the Hallmark movie trademarks. You know how it's going to end five minutes after it starts. But, I enjoyed the characters and the fact that the supporting characters were a little more fleshed out than your usual movie.

Love in the Forecast (2020 TV Movie)

One of the most unrealistic Hallmark movies, and that's saying something.
17 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If it actually rained as much as it did in this movie, there would have been massive levels of flooding. An arc would have been needed. If the head meteorologist had been wrong that often in reality, he would have been fired. You have to suspend your sense of reality for Hallmark movies. But, this one just took it too far. The characters were likable and their relationship was sweet. But, the weather premise was poorly done.

Love to the Rescue (2019 TV Movie)

One of the Best Hallmark Movies
12 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a dog owner and dog lover. So, any movie that has a dog always gets high ratings from me. But, this movie has one of the lowest levels of "suspend your sense of disbelief" of any Hallmark movie I've seen. I like that it shows a positive actual friendship between Kate and her ex-husband as they co-parent their daughter. Of course, you can see where things are going pretty much from the beginning. But, this is some of the most realistic acting from all of the actors in any Hallmark movie. Nikki Deloach is one of the actresses whose Hallmark movies I always watch. But, she seems very funny in this one. There were more laugh out loud moments in this movie for me than I typically get in a Hallmark movie. I also appreciated that the drama was more realistic. In most Hallmark movies, there is a "poor timing" problem that arises near the end. There's none of the stereotypical misunderstandings like where the girl is talking to the ex-boyfriend and saying goodbye and the new guy sees it and thinks the girl and the ex are getting back together. None of that! An actual adult decision is made for actual reasons to create the drama. I appreciated that.

Favorite Hallmark Movie
28 April 2020
I love Hallmark Movies. I embrace the cheesiness. I generally know how the movie will end. But, this movie is the my favorite movie from Hallmark. Yes, it has the romantic aspects and you can guess how things will end. But, it's probably the best acted and most original idea in a movie from Hallmark. It may be that one of my favorite movies is You've Got Mail and some aspects of this movie reflect that. But, there is truly enough originality to the plot that makes it feel fresh. The leads have great chemistry. This movie might win over even the most anti-cheesy movie viewer.

Best Hallmark Movie of 2019
8 December 2019
I know all Hallmark movies have a similar formula. But, this one has a little extra something that pushes it over the top. I think this is one of my favorite Hallmark movies of all time. Kristin Chenoweth and Scott Wolf are great co-stars and elevate the Hallmark formula for movies to top notch quality.
