The Andy Griffith Show: The Jinx (1962)
Season 2, Episode 17

Barney's nerve
12 May 2022
Barney sure has some nerve labeling Henry Bennett a "Jinx". It's one thing for a group of grown men to have a casual friendship with some occasional benign "ribbing". But Barney's actions made Henry feel as though nobody in Mayberry wanted him there because all he did was bring bad luck simply by being there. It made me wish I was able to jump into the tv program (like in the movie "Last Action Hero") and inform Barney on the many mistakes he'd made. I'd also make it appoint to tell Barney about the many times Andy had bailed him out of a bad situation, like arresting the entire town while Andy was away, and restored his manhood. But I sure am glad Andy came to Henry's defense and how he shamed the barber shop boys over how they practically made Henry feel he was unwanted in Mayberry.

The Offer (2022)
10/10
A Streaming Series You Can't Refuse
29 April 2022
I'm a guy who prides himself on seeing things through to the end. There have been times when I went to see a movie in a theater and I have flat out dozed off and woke up with a sore neck. The last program I saw streaming was "The Batman" and I fell asleep every time I watched it. But because I wanted to see what I had missed, I was willing to try and stay awake and watch it however many times as I did; 6 times. Unfortunately, the movie was boring enough to knock me out each time.

But with "The Offer", I'll admit that I dozed off only once and it was only because I didn't get enough sleep the night before. I've never been curious about what happens behind the scenes or the entire film making process but I have been taken back to the golden times of Hollywood and this is only after the first 3 episodes. I look forward to what happens next and I do hope Paramount+ will do right by the legacies of Francis Ford Coppola, Mario Van Puzo, and the entire "Godfather" cast members.

Black Panther (2018)

Chadwick Boseman's Crowning Achievement
26 November 2020
I am unfamiliar with the Marvel and DC comics but I do know some of the movies associated with them. Batman in 1989 and X-Men in 2000 both earned their places in my movie collection. I was already sold on the previous Captain America, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, and Thor origin movies so I decided, after seeing Civil War, to give Black Panther a fair shot and I was not disappointed by the action, the drama, or the storyline. When I found out that while the Black Panther was battling Thanos, Chadwick Boseman was fighting colon cancer, I was in absolute awe. It is with absolute pride that I give the dearly departed Chadwick Boseman a standing ovation, 2 thumbs up, and a spiritual "Wakanda Forever" salute for his incredible performances in the past and for his everlasting contribution to the filming industry. Wakanda Forever!

Siren: The Toll of the Sea (2020)
Season 3, Episode 10
10/10
Fantasy and Reality merged together
30 May 2020
We have propaganda with panic, strangers and communities uniting, families and friends fighting above and below. I've been watching Siren since the pilot episode and I have not been disappointed. As much as I'd like this show to focus on the poly amorous relationship between 3 of its characters (Ben, Ryn, and Maddie), it does me some good to see how it reaches out to other parts of the world they occupy.

I'm not gonna spoil anything but Ryn's maternal instincts might as well embody what Patrick Stewart said as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, 'The most dangerous creature is a mother protecting her young.' Another way to look at it is to modify a quote from William Shakespeare: Cry HAVOC and let slip the mermaids of war!

I sincerely hope there will be a 4th, 5th, and 6th season because I could use a lil more entertainment and enlightenment in my life. Please renew Siren because I love them.

Book + Movie= Bloody Terrifying
8 September 2017
I have never read any of the books and, until today, I had only seen 2 Stephen King movies; the 1990 release of IT (taken from an NBC television broadcast) and The Night Flyer on DVD. And neither one of them, or any of the scary scenes in all the movies I had ever seen, could've prepared me for this. From the trailers, to the premiere, to the final scene, this is truly one of Stephen King's finest works. The Bible speaks of the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I've come to regard and admire Stephen King, George Romero, Wes Craven, and Alfred Hitchcock as "The Four Horsemen of Horror".

Give me Dracula, The Wolfman, Godzilla (classic and modern), The Blob, all the 8-legged freaks, and you still won't be able to hold your ground against, or your bladder, when faced with the works of Stephen King. I applaud the entire cast and crews and I am not ashamed to say that I am absolutely terrified of IT.

In closing, and in the spirit of another one of the 4 horsemen of horror, let me take a page out of Wes Craven's book: We had chapter one. In chapter two, IT will be back for you.

Power Rangers (2017)

Awesome and MORPHINOMINAL!
24 March 2017
I grew up on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series while I was in middle school and high school. My adrenaline rushed every time they morphed and my skin had goosebumps when the dinozords got involved. This was a very fitting addition to the original power rangers legacy created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy. I went into this not expecting to see the skin tight spandex suits and Voltron-like robots. The actors and actresses gave their all and there wasn't a single disappointed person in the theater. Some variations of the trailers and the original material(s) but I could still connect it with the core principles behind the series and I have every intention on pre-ordering the DVD as soon as it's possible.

In closing, let me say this: GO GO POWER RANGERS! YOU MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS!!!!!

Always Remembered and Never Forgotten
26 December 2016
Twinkle twinkle every single star How we admire who you are Up above the heavens so high Lead by angels through the sky Good-bye to every single star We will all remember you for who you are

I saw one of these tributes before catching a broadcast of Rogue One this morning. I was just as brought to tears now as I was then. Some of these people I only knew through the movies or songs they performed in and, especially when I was a kid, I had no idea as to who they were. When I see a tribute like this online or on TV, I make it a point to research the people involved. I won't spoil anything but I will say that if you're not brought to tears by what you see, then you have my pity instead of my contempt.

Old fashioned good vs. evil
28 December 2015
I wrote a review for the prequels saying that maybe George Lucas made a mistake using current world affairs as a means to tell how Star Wars came to be; trade negotiations, the war on terrorism, and the rise of imperialism in the government. But they were his mistakes to make in his legacy. But I accepted the prequels. I grew up with Star Wars. In fact, my family still has the home video recordings from when the originals aired on HBO in the 80's and I'm standing by those instead of the 2000 upgrades. As for TFA, I'm standing by it because I believe J.J. Abrams has gone back to the roots of Star Wars: good vs. evil. Before I went to see it, I asked my brother one question, 'Is there a preview scene after the credits?' I didn't want any spoilers or hints and he didn't have anything bad to say about it either.

Godzilla (I) (1998)

A pathetic excuse of CGI
20 January 2015
I grew up on the classic Godzilla movies from Toho Co., Ltd. when they were broadcasted on television networks. My all time favorite was "Godzilla on Monster Island" aka "Godzilla vs. Gigan". The music, the fights, all the acting was top notch for the times. Fast forward to 1998, I got no problem saying that I only bought the video release of this movie just so I could claim to have every Godzilla movie ever made; but I don't watch it. No guy in a lizard suit, no atomic fire breath, and the King of all monsters spends more time underground than a groundhog. Oh he does have an interesting roar, and a somewhat acceptable entrance at the fish market, but I wouldn't place "Zilla" in the same primordial food chain as the real King of all kaiju.

Long live the King of all monsters!
16 May 2014
I don't care if this is a remake of the original 1954 classic, a way to compensate for 1998, or if this was an attempt by Warner Bros. and Legendary to outshine and washout the legacy of Toho Co., Ltd. I went to see this movie in 3D-Imax, not like a regular movie broadcast, and I did whatever I could to keep my eyes on the whole screen. And I do not have a single solitary complaint about this movie. I was blown away by the historical details as well as the graphics. I grew up on Godzilla movies from Toho; from "King of the Monsters" to "Godzilla 1985". It wasn't until 1994 that I found some newer movies that were setup to be like after 1985. I'll leave my opinions of them to myself and to their respective pages. As for this, my only problem is going to be whether to buy this on DVD or wait until it airs on TV and record it myself. For right now, I only have one thing to say......LONG LIVE THE KING!

Excellent Entertainment For All Ages
5 January 2014
When I was a kid, I was fat and slow minded. It was monumentally easy for people to pick on me, as if I was Charlie Brown. I grew up admiring Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Noriyuki "Pat" Morita, and many other martial artists. When I got a break from house work chores, I was a regular couch potato. And now, when most of what I see on the air is a reflection of my own life, I take comfort in the online uploads of this series. David Carradine brings the kind of wisdom we are seriously lacking in this day and age. I honestly can't see why this series hasn't been professionally released to DVD yet. I would recommend this series along with "Beauty and The Beast" starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. Both DVD's are bound to open up your heart and broaden your mind.

"The Customer Is Always ....."
7 December 2011
Has there ever been a time where you wanted to tell somebody that they were wrong? Have you ever had to swallow your dignity in order to accommodate someone who believed that they were entitled to take advantage of the mandate "The Customer Is Always Right" to the most abusive degrees? That's what Ed and Dannie encounter in Monica Wells. She is a drunk, an abusive guest, and a CEO in the construction business who suffers from an over inflated ego. Anybody who longs for the ability to say "No" or "You are very, very wrong" without fear of the consequences, or the chance to see a "How the mighty have fallen" moment, should definitely enjoy this episode of "Las Vegas".
