Great movie... Keaton's excellent!
16 June 2001
This is a GREAT Tarantino movie. possibly better than 'Reservoir Dogs'. But someone answer me this... WHY does practically everyone describe my hero Michael Keaton's character as goofy and stupidly hilarious? They make his Ray Nicolet character out to be some moron, when in fact he's quite intelligent and the moronic one (IF that!) is his partner! Apart from Keaton's once again excellent performance, great work from and plaudits for De Niro, Sam Jackson, Grier and to a lesser extent Fonda... not to mention a very believable performance by Robert Forster and a hilarious turn by Chris Tucker. GREAT!

Columbo: Murder with Too Many Notes (2001)

Could have been soooooooo much better...
12 March 2001
Just saw this in its US premiere on ABC a couple of hours ago and I must say that I was a wee bit disappointed! Peter Falk was his usual reliable self and, although he was pretty good, I expected much more from my main man Billy Connolly. He seemed to take his stand-up routine persona and just transfer it to his Findlay Crawford character, which I personally don't feel worked as it would have if he took his character in a more serious vein, kind of like he did in 'Mrs Brown'. All in all, it was a pretty ingenious plot, but nothing we haven't seen before.

Double Take (2001)
8/10
The poor man's 'Rush Hour'... and it's (almost) just as good!
19 January 2001
Me and my wife went to see this movie after seeing the hilarious previews for about a month before it came out... and we were not disappointed! It turned out to be a bit of 'Rush Hour', 'Bad Boys' and yeah maybe even 'Blue Streak' and any other buddy/buddy movie you may care to mention all rolled into one. True, it wasn't better than any of those three, but man Griffin and Orlando are certainly a double act to look out for in the future. Hilarious situations complemented by high profile action and a neat (if sometimes confusing) plot help to buoy the movie along at a frantic pace. But it's the performances which are the real jewel in the crown and Griffin (last seen, if I remember correctly, in 'Deuce Bigelow') and Jones (wasn't he in Armageddon?) are REAL good together, so much so that I kept telling my wife Misty that they MUST have acted together before on TV or something because they really act well off each other. The funny scenes are numerous, with the stand out ones being the malt liquor scene on the train and the running gag about that guy's cross eyes. Mark my words, though... Griffin and Jones are most certainly two names to look out for. Go see and judge for yourselves!

Not bad...

The person who wrote in from Sleepyville seems to have been doing just that during this movie... sleep! I mean, if the great Billy Connolly's witty vocal delivery didn't keep him wide awake and laughing out loud, I don't know what would! True, the movie is one for kids mainly and there are a lot of inaccuracies, but it all evolves around Connolly's sterling work on the vocals. Not bad movie at all, enhanced all the more by Billy Connolly, the Scot of the Anarcich.
