The Saw Is Family: Making 'Leatherface' (2003)
Bad movie, great documentary
Wow. I absolutely hated Leatherface, but this documentary was one of the best I've seen. It talks about everything from the beginnings of New Line Cinema, the history of the series and Ed Gein, to how the movie was cut to pieces to get an R rating, and of course the production itself. Rent the DVD, skip the movie, then watch this :)
Movie: 3/10 Documentary: 8/10
Gigli (2003)
Nowhere near as bad as everyone says
OK, first off let me say this isn't a good movie. But #3 on the worst movies of all time list on IMDB? Come on, get real. This isn't that much worse than the usual tripe that Hollywood spills out at an alarming rate. Its just popular to bitch about Affleck and Lopez these days. Now, I would still say don't waste your time on it, but this movie does not deserve all of the bashing its taking. 5/10
Wonderful Days (2003)
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor
I was very privileged to see the world premiere of this at the Waterloo Film for Animated Cinema this weekend. The animation is absolutely amazing. They blended CGI with live animation, matte paintings, and video of miniatures, and accomplished what I say is easily the most amazing animation I have ever seen. In addition to this they managed to have a story that rivals the best of Japanese anime. This film proves that Korea is ready to start producing their own animation rather than just animate for other countries. Do yourself a favor and see this whenever you get the chance.
Possible Worlds (2000)
An interesting idea....
but a poor execution. Too bad, the main premise is one with real possibilities, however the acting is very bland, the whole movie dry, and I can easily see most people turning it off before the conclusion (which is the best part!)
