So Glad I didn't see this in the theaters
3 January 2001
I am so glad that I didn't waste $8 on seeing this movie in the theaters. In fact, I got this movie for free! And I still feel cheated! This movie has left me speechless. I can't think of the right words to tell you just how bad this movie was! Needless to say, I did not enjoy it. I can't say this movie grossed me out or made me sick, but I was surprised at how much nudity there was in this flick. There is not much to enjoy about this movie. Joquin Phoenix gave a great performance as did Nic Cage to a lesser degree. He seems to have the same mood in almost all of his movies as of late (excluding Family Man). All in all, this movie has no rewarding value, the climax sucks, so does most of the rising action. So, if you want to spend a couple of bucks to completely and utterly waste a perfectly good 2 hours, I wouldn't even reccommend you do so on this flick. Waste it on a flick for your kids that will at least make someone feel good. Try a Bug's Life!

Great Action, but Incomplete
7 November 2000
I liked this movie quite a bit.The styling and action is great, as well are the effects. The story is also interesting except for the fact that it was never actually finished! So many things are left up in the air by the end of the movie that one can only feel a bit frustrated by it. I enjoyed the movie throughout its running time to the point that I was disgruntled by the incomplete story. I'll still probably buy the DVD though (if I ever find it).

2nd Transfer into America Does worst than the first
23 September 2000
Though this movie is another one of Yuen Woo Ping's (Matrix's Action choreographer) great flix's, it seems that once again a movie AND its viewers suffer because of the terrible Foreign to American Trade-off. This movie first came out in America on video under the name of "Tai Chi Master", with subtitles and NO DUBBED ENGLISH. This time, the American DVD version (Released by Dimension films) is rereleased under the title, "Twin Warriors" (why?), and ONLY DUBBED IN ENGLISH. The authentic dialogue is lost even though DVD has the ability to give the VIEWER the option of the way he/she wants to watch the movie. It is widely known that real Kung Fu fans would much rather have the real dialogue along with subtitles, than some bad english dubbing. To add to that, in this DVD Version, they actually took out some parts. They were small parts, but nontheless, they were needlessly excluded from the DVD! Why? Who knows! This is a great Kung Fu movie and still is enjoyed, though at a lower level than the real thing. If you want to see this movie (and you should) find the one that said "Tai Chi Master" or "Tai ji Zhang San Feng" (the real title), and pass by "Twin Warriors" unless you love English Dubbed flixs.
