Total Recall (1990)
Best Special Effects for its time and a Great Action flick
To date, this movie's special effects are the best I have seen for its time. I was blown away from start to finish. That's impressive considering the technology boom following this movie. The entertainment factor combined with Arnie's on-screen charisma and the movie's non stop action make this one of my favorites. It was the first DVD I bought and I'm a little ticked off that the studio released an improved special edition (which I will now go buy). I rate movies based more on entertainment value than I do story or plot (and the story and plot was good too), so I give this movie a 9 out of 10.
Little Big League (1994)
Very underrated. One of the best of the 90's baseball movies
I remember that I didn't want to see this movie at the theater (or as a rental for that matter) because of the marketing of the movie and what I thought would be a dumb story. However, I was pleasantly surprised. For what it was worth, it was a pretty good movie. Yeah, the story-line was not believable and it was cheesy at times, but the basis behind the story was pretty solid, it had some pretty good lines, and it was pretty entertaining the whole way through. Word of warning, though - Don't let Randy Johnson scare you. That guy had to have fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down, THEN bounced and hit every single branch on the way up. Plus he's called the 'Big Unit'; scary! 6.5 out of 10.
Big (1988)
Great comedy, heart-warming story, and possibly Hanks most deserving role for an Oscar
I've seen this movie quite a few times and still enjoy it. Of all his Oscar-worthy roles, I believe this is the one that he should have won an Oscar for. I also think that Jared Rushton did an excellent job of playing Josh's (Hanks) best friend. I gave it a 9 and probably should have rated it a 7 or 8 in the grand scheme of rating movies, but it is one of my faves of all time.
