Big Wednesday (1978)

a surfer's ride through youth into maturity
15 September 2000
Despite a slow start, this movie gradually builds momentum as you become engrossed in the lives of its' characters. The leads Katt,Busey, and Vincent are all strong. They carry their roles of young surfer bums to mature adults very well. Bear's surfer guru and Vincent's veteran surfing legend are standouts. A good reflection of 60's and 70's moods and changes. Director Milius is a good storyteller.

very intriguing concept that never peaked
16 July 2000
this could have been a very fine thriller, but the editing was way off. Scenes of Gullette's character descending into insanity took away the story's power. Thus, we are left with a movie that is only part of the equation. There's no reason that a film can't be intelligent without being cumbersome.

Check It Out (1985–1988)
Don Adams' attempt for a sit-com come back
14 July 2000
A short lived series, Check It Out never really seemed to click.Don Adams was good. Dinah Christie is a veteran performer up here in Canada. However, the stories and execution always came up bland and redundant. It seemed to have no natural generation. Carbon copy sit-com crapola.
