Liar Liar (1997)
This movie screams Jim Carrey
I have never watched a movie where someone was so suitable to their role as this movie was to Jim Carrey(Besides Dirty Dancing and Patrick Swayze). It brings out the best in him. His love for his job, children, and his comical talent. When I came out of the theater after watching this film the first time,my ribs were sore. You can tell how much he loves children just by the way he relates to Max. I don't think that is all acting there. I don't know why he wasted his time with Me,Myself, and Irene. He was good in it, don't get me wrong, I just think that he is above a movie like that. He has tremendous comical talent, he doesn't need a movie peppered with profanity. I think the profanity kept Jim Carrey in the background, instead of the foreground. The movie would have succeeded if it had more Carrey antics and less people who like to curse! Jim is funny, they aren't!!
The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)
Blasphemous
If any movie could be more dishonorable than this movie, I would like to see it. This movie has been known to demote Christ, and caters to atheistic viewpoints. Jesus Christ cannot sin because He is divine. He would not be able to atone for the world's sins if He were to sin himself. It also trivializes the immense love that He had for us. Christ would indeed smile at our healing because He does not want to see His children suffering. I rated this movie a 1 to vindicate Jesus and His life. All I can imagine is that this movie must have been made by someone who was either an atheist or was too influenced by occult beliefs(Jesus Seminar for one).
Black Dog (1998)
Unique!
I really loved this movie. Number 1, I am a Swayze fan and number 2 it was original in its format. Like someone else said, most often you see car chases, these are semi-chases. It was pretty neat how so many musical artists were used in its cast. Meatloaf was fantastic. He even looks fantastic and I am sure anyone who has seen him before(1974)would agree with me. He must have lost at least 200 lbs. His character was kind of comical in a way and he did a great job. Of course Patrick Swayze always does!
The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
Moral of Humility
This movie has an important message to it. It shows what can happen to people who forget the important characteristic of humility. Those who puff themselves up will eventually be deflated in some form or another. It is a good movie for kids and adults to watch because both can learn from it. Kuzco underwent a transformation for the better when Pacho was his friend despite Kuzco's arrogance, and was still there for him when Kuzco hit bottom. So in a way, it also has an important message regarding friendship as well.
Me, Myself & Irene (2000)
If its not broken, don't fix it!
I did not like this movie mainly because it was so off base compared to what Jim Carrey has done before. I loved "Liar,Liar"and "The Mask". I feel he has decided to the profanity route just to satisfy the culture when people loved what he did to begin with. I didn't even make it all the way through the movie because it was the "f"word every other word. I felt his movies were great the way they were, he didn't need the profanity
A Night to Remember (1958)
video
I liked this film, but my main complaint with it was that it was hard to see some of the parts of the movie because it was so dark. I feel I would have liked it a lot more if it was easier to see. I did change the brightness on the television but this did not help much.
Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves! (1997)
Great Movie
I think Koolwiz is wrong. This was a great movie! The fact that Nick and Amy weren't there leaves a lot to the reality of family life. The older kids go off to college. Rick Moranis is not the only character left. Adam is there. Remember, Honey I Blew up the Kid? This one was great just like the other two "Honey" movies. If they hadn't got Rick Moranis to play Wayne again, then I would have agreed with KoolWiz. They got the actors as close to the originals as they could. However, they could have cast an actress with straight hair for Diane. But on the other hand, who says Diane couldn't have gotten a perm. I liked Marcia, but the storyline was not based around her, it was based around the characters.
To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (1995)
The Man's(Patrick Swayze)good looks have versatility!
I don't know what else to say other than the fact that because of Patrick's handsomeness and excellent posture, he has managed to make Vida the most beautiful drag queen in the whole film! He must have practiced before he did the film by walking around with books on his head. He made Vida, herself "statuesque"!
