American Wedding (2003)
Hahahaha
I loved the first american pie, but was so dissapointed with the second. it was too direct, lacked creativity, and got old. (sorry to anyone who loved it). but ii was delightfully surprised with American Wedding. The sexual jokes flowed much better, it was all situational as opposed to 'hahaha look at my wang', and in general just got more laughs. It is a great movie to see in the theater while your in the mood for something like that, and a lot of fun. although half the original cast is now gone, the remaining few are a good mix for the last of the american pie trilogy. stifler is kinda crazy and unbearable in the beginning but bear with it, it eventually works with the story and gets better. This is such a cute movie.. and yes i use the word cute. Its hilarious, but not so over the top that it looses the sweetness of it, being the fact that the main point of this movie is the wedding of jim and michelle. What a great, mindless piece of entertainment!
American Pie 2 (2001)
Gross! turn it off
I loved the first american pie, and i love the third american pie, but WHAT IS SO FUNNY ABOUT THIS MOVIE? the second one is just gross, lacks creativity, and just... isn't funny! its as simple as that. Im sorry but watching 'hot lesbian chicks' get on eachother for half the movie just isn't funny. If you're going to make a teen sex movie at least make it interesting. If you want to watch something gross and funny, watch the first AP or the third. Please.. save your money.. this is something to miss.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
One of the greatest movies of all time
I was never one for horror flicks, to begin with. I mean, I get scared. And I personally think that they are pointless.. Some stalker thrashing a babysitter just isn't my idea of fun! Who cares? Then the movie is over, and you never think about it again.
But that was TOTALLY not the case with The Sixth Sense. This movie has depth. Meaning. Everything. Haley Joel Osment was AMAZING. Probably one the best performances I've ever witnessed. It's a real shame he didn't get the Oscar. He really deserved it. (No offense to Cane.. Caine.. whatever..) I was almost in tears because of him.. and no, not because I was scared! :)
And the ending was shocking. Brilliant. I think that was the main reason I was so taken with this movie. If you haven't seen it, don't see it with people who have. They might make the mistake of telling you the ending, and you DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT! I know that if I knew it, then I wouldn't have enjoyed the movie a tenth as much. Seriously. The ending is surprising, and totally awesome.
SIXTH SENSE RULES!!!!!!
The Outsiders (1983)
Not half the book
As a literature assignment, I read the Outsiders, by SE Hinton. Right away I fell in love with the story. Hinton's writing was wonderful! Then I was recommended the movie, and was told it was great as well. After hearing who was in it (all wonderful and well-known actors), I guess I expected more: The movie disgusted me. It was terrible!!!!! Not half the book. Heck, not a tenth of the book. The scenes were sketchy, the storyline didn't flow right at all, and the acting was terrible-- especially for such great actors as those that were in this movie. If you want to learn about the story, go read the book. And if you have already read the book, don't ruin it by watching this awful production.
She's All That (1999)
Oh look.. another meaningless movie..
I can't say this movie was, well, 'all that'. Being a female under 18, I usually enjoy movies such as this one. However, 'She's All that' was just another entertaining movie with no meaning. If you want a chick-flick, go rent Ten Things I Hate About You.
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Best chick-flick I've seen in years!
Being a female under 18, I am a total sucker for chick-flicks. So when a friend wouldn't shut up about how great this movie is, I thought "Hey! What's there to loose?". So I rented it, and watched it the following night. I loved it!!!! Not only is it a perfect translation of Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew', it is entertaining. Needless to say, I watched it three times before my father returned it to the video rental. So go watch it!!!
Now and Then (1995)
Almost 'Wonder Years' for girls
If you're 12 years old, and a girl, I totally recommend this movie. I first saw it when I was 9, and I liked it, but the summer into my seventh grade year was when it really clicked. Soon I was up until 1:30AM in my room watching this movie, just about every night. I loved it! I couldn't get enough of it!! Now and Then is definitely worth the cash to rent.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Powerful, indeed!
I first saw this movie with my father when I was 13. Not being subjected to all that many 'R' movies, I was excited. Even though I was only at the young age of 13, I absorbed the movie with full understanding. This is probably the best movie Jack Nicholson has ever been in, and is POWERFUL POWERFUL POWERFUL! And if you agree with this while viewing Cuckoo's Nest, just wait until the ending.
