Grace and the Storm (2004)

Interesting Premise

After watching the film on DVD, I can't help but think how interesting the premise is and how I'd love to see this premise done on a much larger budget. I think some changes need to be made to the script, especially in ACT 1, but my attention was kept even though the film doesn't have the production touches that a bigger budget would allow for.

The acting isn't smooth in every scene, but the main character is good in spots. I also think the woman he loves did a very strong job.

I think the writer/director shows signs of talent, but I hope he sees this scripts shortcomings and gets rid of them in his next film by giving depth to every character and making sure the dialogue is tight.

Class of '44 (1973)

A worthy sequel tothe Summer of '42

This sequel to the "Summer of '42" carries on the themes set out in the original film and delves deeper into the minds of the characters. While fans of the first film may wish to see more of Jennifer O'Neill's character, unfortunately she does not appear in this film and there is no mention of her character at all. That aside, however, this film allows you to learn more about Hermie and Oscy and the paths their lives take. Deborah Winters role as Hermie's college love interest works well and the characters have chemistry on screen. If you liked the "Summer Of '42" you should enjoy the "Class Of '44". You just may be disappointed not to see any more of Hermie and Dorothy's relationship or the impact of the summer of '44.

All Saints Day (2000)

Funny film that contains an all-time classic comedy scene for the ages...

I saw All Saints Day at the IFP's 2000 Market in New York City and it was enjoyed by a roaring audience. Most memorable is a scene toward the end of the film that involves a female senior citizen with a taste for fish and an incredibly foul mouth mixing it up with the group of screw-ups that the story surrounds. One of the funniest comedy scenes I've ever seen, but certainly not the only laugh to be found.

The Black Hole (1979)

Want to live with this technology and opportunity to explore...

This movie influenced me as a child as much as any other. Great characters, with the possible exception of the one portrayed by Anthony Perkins. Wanted to have my own Vincent. The special effects are amazing for 1979 and better than those in the original cut of Star Wars. Has an impacting score. THE BLACK HOLE is a SCI-FI classic and a film any fan of the genre should see at least once.
