Pirates of Treasure Island (2006)
A lesson in poor acting
Right from the first line you know that you are in for a bad experience.
The acting in this movie is truly awful and it beggars belief how the people responsible for this disaster could allow such bad delivery of lines.
There's a surprise just before the opening credits that should give you an idea of whether or not you are going to enjoy this film. I won't spoil it for you, except to say that I laughed out loud where I should have been shocked, thrilled or perhaps scared.
The overall movie felt home made and the kids left the room to play after 20 minutes of the most tedious 'action' Avoid this movie if at all possible - it's dull, poorly acted and you don't even want to KNOW about the 'swashbuckling sword fights'!!
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Draws you in and then kicks you in the stomach !
This film surprised me more than any other film of 1999. Easily the best performance of Bruce Willis' career this movie just gets better and better as it goes on.
I would recommend you know nothing about the story before you watch as it has a twist like no other at the end ! When it all ends, some of the heart stopping visual kicks will stay in your mind for ages!
Watch this movie.
Lost in Space (1998)
lost in space ? It should have been !!
I really cannot believe that some people actually enjoyed this..
I found this movie a long, drawn out waste of time to say the least. It just went on and on and on. Apparently there was a record number of special effects used in the making of this movie yet it looks no better than any other sci-fi spectacular.
By far and away the worst inclusion in this movie was the pointless alien monkey type creature that the family take under their wing. It looked so false it was (almost) laughable.
Absolutely nothing interested me in this movie and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
Exciting, hilarious, credible and hard as nails..
This film has something for everyone. Look past the sometimes suspect acting and you have a top movie from start to finish. The visuals really add to the atmosphere of it all and some really excellent editing keep the pace at maximum throughout.
The story of a card game gone wrong twists and turns in a way that keeps you rivetted until the tremendous and violent climax.
Don't take my word for it, go and see it NOW !
The Krays (1990)
Could have been so much better...
Anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge of the Krays and the east end of London will notice the glaring problems with this film. When I first watched this movie I thought it was great but having watched it a few times since, (I own it on DVD) it just gets worse with every view.
Some of the acting is suspect and the locations are nowhere near accurate. There are so many missing chapters in the twins life that the film will just leave you wanting more.
Definitely the worst aspect though is the completely inane ramblings of Violet Kray, the twins mother. This was included to add a little drama but you can't help thinking that the film maker's could have included a little more on the police investigations, the disappearance of a few east end villains etc. surely the twins actions could have created enough drama of their own..
Legend of the Mummy (1998)
mummifyingly bad !!
Don't even think about watching this movie. I did and I would find it very difficult to find a worse film than this. It was long, drawn out, poorly acted (even by Louis Gossett Jr) and the special effects were laughable. Unfortunately, a lot of people will buy this by mistake (my wife included). Just don't...
