Werewolf (1995)
Wow, a new low in movies
I can't begin to describe how bad this movie is. Up until now i thought that Bloody Murder was the worst thing i had ever seen but this? Just read all the comments I dont need to rag on it any more than has been done
Coming Soon (1999)
Needs work
I wanted to like this movie. It's not awful, but it's not very good either. There are some moderately funny moments that could have been enhanced by better directing and editing. In fact, that is the main problem with the film. It just seems to float along and never really get started. The dead on portrayal of private school kids and how petty they can be was lost through poor ploting. Also, characters seem to vanish and pop up randomly for no reason. To show you what I mean, I won't explain and leave you the way the movie left me feeling. The acting is OK at best but it's a teen comedy and it's not like I was expecting the best but the reactions to situations is a bit unbelievable. ***SPOILER*** This is most evident when Nell anounces she has had her first orgasm. The girls are happy for her and ask who the guy was. But no! It was a girl! Seems Nellie has a same sex attraction. How this revelation met just after Jenny has been berating the lesbian drummer as "That dike?" "Oh, it was her I did it with" "Thats great Nell!" (all smiles)and on to the next scene. But I digress. Ok for a rainy day but better directing could have really made a difference. 4/10
Bloody Murder (2000)
So bad it's.... Bad
Wow. Thats all I can say after being fortunate enough to see this. I love cheesy horror but this is just SO bad. The acting is weak at best, the diologue is awful and the plot rips off so many movies it hurts my head. Not to say there's nothing to like. The final plot twist is decent even though I knew it was coming and there are a couple of ok screams by the victims but the overall production is just not pulled off well. There are even a few scenes where the camera is out of focus. Oh well. If you really like cheesy filcks and you want to see some mistakes in film to avoid, you might as well give it a try.
Lost in Yonkers (1993)
The Play is better
The film itself is a fairly good one. It can be touching at times and Bella is well done as is Grandma. (of course these are actors that did them in the play.) I don't like how Louie is done at all, just seems out of place. Also, the boys are the core of the play but not in the movie. They are the comic relief for some very heavy drama and the play is more about how they deal with the situation rather than how the family comes together at the end. I didn't really get the sense that they were brothers either. The movie is good, but read or see the play for a better experience
Outside Providence (1999)
Dead on Portrayal of Prep School Life
This is a very charming and sweet movie. First off, after having attended a prep school for four long years, I can say that this is a great representation of one. Kids double-crossing you for favor of the headmaster, sneaking around for fear of being booted, and the general backwardness in thinking of those that were in charge. Supposedly, Peter Farrelly also went to the same school as I and used it for the movie albeit with a name change. Cornwall is only 10 miles from the Kent School so its possible, but you know how rumors fly. Anyways, the movie is well acted and has a great soundtrack. I highly recommend it.
Fire on the Amazon (1993)
Very, Very BAD
This is one of the worst films I have seen in a long, long time. There is a thin storyline about finding out who killed an enviromental activist but it doesn't quite cut it. Bullock performs ok, but the the rest of the cast makes little impact. There is really no reason to waste money on this junk even if Bullock is seen nude.
Before Sunrise (1995)
Really tugs at the heart
When I first saw this movie I really had no idea what it was going to be about, I just knew it was by Richard Linklater. It grabbed my attention at the very beginning and I had a feeling of anxioty during the whole movie knowing it would end and not wanting it to. This is a great movie to watch with your girlfriend as it is enjoyable even for manly men(although you don't have to admit it)
