Legacy, notre héritage (2021 TV Movie)

A birds high view of planet earth and its species history
30 July 2023
The tale of our planet, its inhabitants and our evolution as humans. Staggering images supporting excellent explanations all starting from the concept of energy which all species became experts at using to their own and mutual benefits.

Yann-Artus Bertrand explains the extraordinary skills of species - and focusing on humans especially since the beginning of the industrial revolution. All of it without being condescending, pedantic or moralistic.

And oh boy, what an amazing specie we are when it comes to our accomplishments!

A must see for anyone who loves our planet and is not completely turned off by the idea of a human-induced climate change.

Empty, implausible, just a waste of time and money

I don't think there is anything in this movie that makes it worth watching it. Read the other reviews to make your own opinion is the only advice I can give. And No, this is not the movie of any year I m afraid.

You will learn a lot about a great producer
2 April 2020
If you love music or just have interest in pop music, watch it - Quincy Jones is a reference who has been behind lots of very popular entertainment music and inspired multiple generations. This documentary, shown through the eyes of the main protagonist's daughter, will get you to discover a great character, with a driven and altruistic personality, possibly missing some of his human flaws!

AlphaGo (2017)

Great watch but misses an important piece
22 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER WARNING I liked this feature very much. It gives a grasp to the masses of what machine learning and AI is. Though it does not explain the difference at all. Far from boring with a good suspense all along. I down rated it because it misses to mention a very important set of information: The power that was consumed by AlphaGo: Wikipedia mentions information shared by The Economist: 1920 CPUs and almost 300 GPUs. It would have been much more contrasted to discuss this massive computing power used to challenge Lee Segol , one of the world's best Go players. While we see him quite upset by the outcome, it would have been really respectful to share about that computing power and the related energy that was consumed by the software versus his human brain! Surely AI is way LESS efficient than his brain. I don't know if this was overlooked by the director voluntarily or not. I don't know either who finance this movie. What we know is that this feature ends up being a massive advertising for DeepMind (a Google company). Maybe they helped finance it and possibly had influencing powers to the ultimate story told...

short summary
26 May 2003
45 minutes of stupid inaction followed by 45 minutes of stupid action and a deadly "to be continued" end. Save your time and money, go see something else. Sad, first episode was so nice.
