Dharma & Greg (1997–2002)
High quality viewing.
2 January 2000
You see sitcoms coming through that just aren't funny (ala Suddenly Susan, Jesse), but Dharma and Greg is hilarious. Dharma's free-spirited antics are hysterical, and both Greg's and Dharma's parents add something so special that no other shows have. In New Zealand, we are in our second season, and it rates very highly. In my opinion, the best sitcom on today. 9/10

Ally McBeal (1997–2002)
The best show on Earth
2 January 2000
Ally McBeal is, without doubt, one of the best shows on TV at the moment. In New Zealand, we are awaiting our third series, so the first series is being rerun, and each episode is better every time you see it. It is an excellent drama, with some hysterical moments (Kick boxing, War for the Pringles etc.) The newest characters (Ling and Nelle) add so much to the show, and Ling's quirky ways add humour. Each character is strange in their own way, especially Cage, Fish, Ally, and Happy Gilmore (miss you Happy). The best part: NO CANNED LAUGHTER!!! Never stop production! 10/10

Good in a bad sort of way...
1 January 2000
You've Got Mail has both good and bad points.

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan work so well together, and there is so much chemistry between them (Sleepless in Seattle, etc.) I do not, however regard the movie as much of a comedy. Don't get me wrong, I am not asking for the 'Naked Gun' toilet humour, but a few more laughs would'nt go astray. The ending, also, was too perfect, and I realise it was a romance flick, but come on people!

A good movie nonetheless, 7/10

The Mummy (1999)
Wake me when its over
1 January 2000
I hired The Mummy out on video, thinking it would be amazing blockbuster it was cracked up to be. Looking for a horror movie, I was sourly disappointed. I recall jumping once near the start, and the rest was just bore. The storyline was predictable in every sense, and you could always tell what would happen next. I felt the mummies were shown too openly, taking away the mystery of it all, and some points were very unrealistic.

On the other hand, the special effects and acting were excellent, so I give it a 4/10. I sure as hell won't be watching The Mummy 2.
