The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986)
Prejudice has always existed.
The Clan of the Cave Bear is a wonderful story about a young Cro-Magnon child who has lost connection with others of her kind. She is found by a group of Neanderthals, and accepted by 2 of the group as their own, while the rest consider her "one of the others" and would have preferred she be left behind.
I thoroughly enjoyed Daryl Hannah in this movie. She's perfect for the part. I found it very interesting her struggle to be accepted by the clan. Not only did she have to deal with being an outcast because she was Cro-Magnon but also because she was female. And although she proved herself worthy of acceptance many times, she was still rejected. Rejected out of fear. Cro-Magnons had a larger brain capacity than the Neanderthals and her intelligence caused great fear. Cro-Magnons were also much more athletically agile, which was another threat.
Very good movie.
Justice (1999)
Ummmm
Boy, I'm a person who loves every movie I see. Usually the worse the more I seem to like it, but this movie even I couldn't sit through. I think we made it about 30 minutes. Seeing that James Belushi and JoBeth Williams were in the film made me think that it would be a well-done movie. But from the 1/2 hour that I did see, all of the budget must have been spent getting those 2 stars because everyone else seemed as though they were made out of cardboard. The music reminded me of a Batman movie. Not a good film...nope.
Mister Frost (1990)
The Deceiver---Very Intriguing
Mr. Frost (the movie) has a creative story line. The exploration into the religious aspects/mental health is interesting. I found Jeff Goldblum the perfect actor for the part, and his style reminds me of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. Mr. Frost (the character) has an air of knowing more than he's letting on with a mix of teasing, seduction, and a sinister flavour all simultaneously. Obvious from reading the other comments, this is not a movie for everyone. It may be mis-catagorized in Drama, and is better placed as a Horror or Thriller. Not a slasher movie, and very little blood, but the element is dark much more than a personal drama. Personally, I enjoyed this film very much, leaving questions to explore when finished. What fun is a film if there's nothing to talk about when it's over?
