Othello (2001)
Truly tragic - well done!
Living proof that Shakespeare's plays are truly timeless. People don't change. Great production! The authentic Shakespearean tragedy came through loud and clear. This was the first time we saw Eamonn Walker but it definitely won't be the last.
Harold and Maude (1971)
This is a REAL love story!
We saw this movie when it first came out and loved it! I had never encountered this type of humor before and wasn't comfortable with my own reactions. I was laughing when I 'should' have felt compassion. "I don't believe this!!" kept going through my mind.
We should all be so fortunate as to experience love that truly comes from the heart and beyond.
Best in Show (2000)
Spoofing lovers of Westminster entrees and their people ...
We could not figure out where this story was going in the beginning; so glad we waited to find out. If you are a 'thinned-skinned' dog owner, forget this movie. If you are a true lover of dogs and their people, this is a 'really great show,' and the acting is terrific. Enjoy!
Operation Dumbo Drop (1995)
The value of one's word
Linh reminds us of a younger brother of a dear friend. After hearing so many tragic stories about Vietnam, it is heartwarming to be reminded that the true American spirit was alive and well during that awful time. We hear of the beauty in that country and of the wonderful people who reside there -- this was just a glimpse into that world.
This movie presented a good account of some of the Americans and some of the Vietnamese.
We found ourselves rooting for a successful mission and a keeping of one's word. What can be of more value than a person's word? That is what this very entertaining movies is all about. The value of one's word.
Hamlet (2000)
The update was shear genius!
The screenwriters and editors of this classis Shakespeare tragedy displayed shear genius in their ability to preserve the original play, plot and characters yet update the setting to modern midtown Manhattan. Ethan Hawke displayed a consummate stage acting skill as the troubled Hamlet. Except for Bill Murray, whom we thought was miscast in the role of Polonious, the rest of the troop delivered a superb performance. Our only suggestion would be that, if like us, it has been many years since you have read Hamlet, you do a quick memory update of the play before viewing this video.
Bowfinger (1999)
Totally Steve Martin ... Awesome ! !
Steve Martin & Eddie Murphy make an awesome duo in this hilarious Hollywood spoof. Eddie Murphy doing his classic dual role does a superb job as a paranoid Hollywood superstar being unwittingly led into a part in penniless Martin's last shot at director stardumb. What follow is side splitting.
