Just Another Love Story (2007)

As frustrated as I have ever been in a movie theater!

I will not even pretend to be anything but incredibly disappointed by this film. While it enjoyed several good reviews in the Danish newspapers, my expectations were above average. However, nothing, and I mean nothing could have prepared me for the spectacle that was to follow.

I will not even dwell into the plot, which can at best be described as messy and incoherent. The acting was ample, despite more that a few moments of imbalance between the characters reactions and their feeling for a scene.

The real culprit of this disaster of a movie, is director Ole Bornedal, who has managed to bring all the worst of Danish movie making into life. Everything from the pointless overuse of the macabre to the exploitation of human emotions in an almost pornographic way leaving the viewer with a sense of a reality, which fetisches the dark side of life in a very disturbing way.

I for one managed to be as frustrated and angry as I have ever been while watching a movie. An absolutely atrocious piece of work, that tends to appeal to the emotionally unstable. I would advice that no one watches it, but should the urge to torture your self so overwhelm you that you feel that you cannot resist, then at least come back to this forum and share your thoughts on it.

Horrible picture. (period!).

The Bachelor (1999)

Very poor flick, in every aspect.

I am aware that "the Bachelor" is supposed to be found in the romantic comedy pile, yet desturbingly I found it to be neither funny nor romantic.

The only adequate description for it would be unispired and halfhearted attempt of a remake of a Buster Keaton classic. As far as the acting goes, I have never found Chris O´Donell worthy of the star status placed on his shoulders. He simply does not have any charisma or charm. He is not entiry untallented but is an altogether poor actor who should not play the leading role in movies even as poor as this one.

Even Renee Zellwegger lacked her usual poise and childish charm. However, she was one of the less disappointing aspects of this mess. Another noteworthy element is the brief appearance of Brooke Shields which is one of her best roles. As far as the plot goes, the less I say about it the better. It is a good idea in theory, but the writers have messed up the idea completely. There are so many plot holes, and times where you are left wondering what happened. The characters are rather unrealistic and do illogical things. Very annoying. Even if you are a huge fan of the Romantic/Comedy genre, give this one a miss. Practically anything else would be better. I watched it with my girlfriend and I do not think that any of us felt we got our moneys worth. Quite simply this flick is bad. 2/10.

Platoon (1986)

Maybe The Best!

This is one movie that no one should miss. Even if you are not the war-movie type of a person you should see it for ít´s magnificent pictures and use of color. The story is not that unusual and might even be somewhat predictable, but that is not what makes this movie unique. What makes it unique is the passion presented not only from the starstudded cast but mostly from Stone. If I had to describe this movie with one word it would be: BEAUTIFUL!!!

The Big Lebowski (1998)

A truly remarkable story about guys bowling!

When people talk about the Coen brothers movies such as Fargo and Raising Arizona are mentioned. I, however, see The Big Lebowski as their all time greatest.

They have turned a story about a guy known as "The Dude" into a comedy masterpiece.

The Big Lebowski is rather controversial in a way that you will either love it or find it dull and boring. Either way take the time to watch it and decide for your self. I promise you that you are to find at least one of the characters in this movie extremely funny.

This is also one of these movies that are worth watching several times.

Warning! Do not expect mind-boddling revelations on the meaning of life from this movie. Just sit back and enjoy two hours of truly original and at times hysterical comedy.
