Final Destination (2000)

Was it meant for you to die, or was it meant for you to survive?

This realy is a good movie...a scarie one too. And to tell you the truth, it is the 2nd movie since "The Matrix" that made me say "WOW...."

It is also the 2nd movie that kind a makes me think about all this "supra-natural" things....and why not? There are people out there who can tell you what will it happen (to you) next... The movie starts of with a group of friends who take a trip to Paris. In the last minute, one of them has a vision that the plane they are on, will explode in mid-air. Minutes later, all that comes true and everybody who survived by getting of the plane, is litteraly stunned. That`s the first 15 minutes of the movie...and nothing can prepare you for what you gonna see next. Can you realy cheat Death? Can you realy avoid what was meant to happen? And if you can, is it because you cheated Death or because it was meant for you to survive? Curious about the answers? Watch this movie and decide for yourself... This is definitly something you shouldn`t miss. I gave it a 9 out of 10.

Romeo Must Die (2000)

What is this title all about, anyway?

The movie is good...I said "good" and nothing else. I have seen the movie not long ago and I have to admit that Jet Li totally amazed me. I noticed him in "Lethal Weapon 4" and I knew that it will be just a question of time until Hollywood will notice him and give him a leading role. About the movie? The usual: Two gangs(Asian & Black Americans)are fighting 4 teritorry, murders, money , power, etc... I don`t think there is anything interesting about the movie story line. But it is very noticeable Jet Li`s acting...he`s not too bad, considering that this is his 1st leading role, in english language, in an American movie. His moves are fantastic but some of it are exagerated. I don`t think there would have been necessary to "apply" wires (even if you can`t see them) to Li`s moves...it is scary what he can do without the wires. Anyway, if you like the Hong Kong style action movie, you should watch this one...or give it a chance. Don`t belive all the bad things you were reading about this movie, before. I give it an 8 out 10

When a Man Loves a Woman (1994)

very touchy

OK, 1st of all, I`m not the type who goes for this kind a movie. I have seen it accidentally by borrowing a tape from a friend of mine, years ago. When the movie started, I said I`ll give it 10-15 minutes to.... "prove itself". And it did!!! The 1st 10 minutes of the movie are excelent. When Garcia approaches Ryan and they are acting like they "go for each-other". Everybody who watches this scene for the 1st time, will definitely fall for it.

I`m not going to "yeap" about this movie. It is so good(at least I liked it) that I ended up buying it. By now, I have rewatched it a few time and I still didn`t or couldn`t get "over it". Best family drama movie I`ve ever seen. 10 out of 10.

Shattered (1991)

One hell of a thrill-ride....

If you like thriller-suspense movies, this one will keep you "busy". Lots a twists, from the begining to the end. And when you think is over, well...it`s not!! I highly recomend this movie, not only to watch it but to add it to your collection, if you a movie collector. This one is an 8 out 10

Mission: Impossible II (2000)

Changing the meaning of the word "impossible"....

From the very beginning it seem to be a good movie. And to be honest, it was. It`s is true....it felt like it was getting a little "slow" around the midlle of the movie, but that didn`t last for long. Before I got to write this, I have read a few reviews and a few comments by others....and I got to say it: many people don`t know what they want. The 1st M.I. was too slow, complicated and it lack in action. The 2nd M.I 2 looks like a story written for a 6 years old. PEOPLE, make up your mind !!! JOHN WOO is the best as far as directing action movies. Has the talent for it and he`s very ingenious...and for ALL those people out there, who think that JOHN WOO "took" some ideas from "THE MATRIX", with the slow-motion, let me bring you up to date. The slow motion scenes in the movie, directed by JOHN WOO, are pretty much his "trade mark" or his "signature"... "THE MATRIX" was nowhere when "THE KILLER" or "HARD BOILED" came out, all of them directed by JOHN WOO. So, think about it....If you`ll ever watch one of those movies, you`ll see the "signature"....and even in JOHN WOO`s latest movies (but movies that were made before "THE MATRIX") like HARD TARGET, BROKEN ARROW, FACE OFF....you`ll see all that. Second: the two MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movies were directed by totally different directors. The 1st M.I. was the work of BRIAN DePALMA, one of the best directors when in comes down to thrillers and mystery. So, you got less action but more mystery. The 2nd MISSION IMPOSIBLE was directed, as we all know already, by the one of the best action movie directors: JOHN WOO. So, you got less mistery and more action. If you didn`t like that, you can go back and re-watch the 1st one and if you didn`t like the 1st either then maybe you should be watching "ALICE IN WONDERLAND." However, after watching the movie, I got the feeling that the "masks" were used every time they got to a "dead end" with the script. But that would be pretty much the only thing I could say against the "M.I.2" This is definitely one of those movies you got to have, if you a movie collector.

Entrapment (1999)

A must see action....

It is a good movie and if you like Zeta-Jones, you`ll be watching this movie again and again. Connery and Zeta-Jones are a nice "combo" for this movie. And not to mention the "gizmos" you`ll see in this movie. Right in the openig scene there are a few things that will make you think twice about what does "security" mean when somebody has the right tools. I belive that maybe, even a "James Bond" movie could borrow a few things from "Entrapment"....

Anyway, the movie it`s worth watching. You might even add this to you collection. For me it`s worth 8 out of 10.

The World Is Not Enough (1999)

well, here we are....the number 19th Bond movie. And it was a shock !!! The opening it takes you like a storm... by surprise and totaly unexpected. The action starts to build up from minute one and about 15 min. later you realize that you haven`t even seen the opening credits. Now, there was a little turn off....the opening music. I, personaly would have fast forward it. I`m not sure about the 2nd turn off, but i believe, it happens around the middle of the movie. Too much sensless yapping... As for the cast....you have to see them to apreciate their role. What can i say? Everybody is this movie did a great job. I will definitly add this movie to my 007 collection, when will became avaiable. For me, this movie did 9 out of 10.

The Thirteenth Floor (1999)

I just watched this movie, about 4 hours ago. To be honest, i wasn`t impressed. But i know why....because i have seen already "The Matrix" and "Dark City". The movie, basically, did not offer any surprisses whatsoever. The only time i was a little bit surprised was when the course of actions in the movie makes you realize (but you still not sure) that there is a simulation within the simulation. It would be unjust from me to say it was a very bad movie...but i think the timing, the release of this movie wasn`t right. The story was already out (Matrix and D.City) and i think that`s why for many people, this movie wasn`t so interesting anymore. As from my point of view...it was OK to watch it once....but it didn`t impress me so much to go out and buy the movie. I would give it a 6 out of 10

Ronin (1998)

what about that misterious suitcase?

It is a very cool movie. Well acted by Robert DeNiro and Jean Reno, it is the type of movie that keeps you asking questions all the way to the end, when you`ll, finally, be able to put together the whole picture. Very good action and most of it is not special-effects. The car chase realy took place and it was realy entertaining watching it. But after the movie is over, you are asking yourself one question: what about the suitcase? what was in it that people were killing each-other left and right for it or because of it? Does "Pulp Fiction" ring a bell? It is a movie thet WILL keep you awake righ to the end of it and for me it was worth 8 out of 10.

The Mummy (1999)

woooooooooow.........isn`t this THE movie? OK, no more b.s. Personally, i think, this is a realy entertaining movie... pretty good acting, nice sets, good fighting scenes and lets not forget about THE special effects. Oh yeah....those special effects....i got to addmit: they were good! But i got to say this: somewhere i could see a little bit of a "Indiana Jones" into all this. But in the end it is an action adventure movie you will like. As for the special-effects...they were good, in fact pretty good but not only the visual once. If you own a sourround sound equipment then you`ll see what i am talking about. Maybe you`ll think about it twice if you wanna buy the movie, but it certainly worth watching it. I`ll give it a 7 out of 10.

Universal Soldier: The Return (1999)

...GIVE HIM A CHANCE...

O.K. people....there is something i don`t realy understand...you don`t like Universal Soldier or you dont like Van Damme?...and in case you don`t like either, then why the heck did you go watch it? This is how i see this: Jean Claude Van Damme is JUST an actor. He is not directing, produceing nor editing the movie. So then what seems to be everybody`s problem with his acting, with his movies or with what he plays? What makes him be so much worse than Steven Segal, Chuck Norris or any other Hollywood "tough guy" ? If you have something with the way he is acting, why do you spend your money and time watching a movie with him? But you know something ? That is not realy the point....the point is you just don`t like him PERIOD! I don`t realy think you would have changed your mind about him even if he would have played in "Titanic"...my personal oppinion is that DeCaprio made it big because of the movie and not because of the way he acted. I think it will be just a matter of time untill Van Damme will get into one of those titanic movies that will make you change your mind about him. The bottom line is: GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE....

Dark Skies (1996–1997)

SOMETHING BETTER THAN "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE"....

Finally, we had something going...something that looked like it will stand a chance in front of the X-Files. I did like this TV serial. It really sucked you in to it...in to the story. And those who like this kind a UFO and conspiracy movies, this was a great TV series. The story takes place in the `50s and `60s and the way the alien and guverment conspiracies are put together,in this TV series, it is really great. Too bad that this series ended all of a sudden...and of course, when it actually started to became more and more interesting. I guess, it all comes down to money. Too bad, cause i think there are lots of people out there who would like to see more of this movie, or at least, finished up properly. If you just get a chance, don`t miss it and also you can compare it the already boring x-Files.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

THE BEST, THE GREATEST...WAR MOVIE, SO FAR !

How many people have to die so that one will survive? A very important question...how many people have to die for a just cause? That what war is all about? Since the history of human kind, there have always been wars...except that not always they have been so expressfull as this one. So...open, so ...real. Hollywood has a record to make good war movies, but not all of them show you the REAL face of the war. This time, we all have something to watch and learn...from Steven Spielberg. He did his "homework" and he did it very well. "Saving private Ryan", proves just that. Tom Hanks plays great. In the movie, he "used to be" a teacher, but now he is a captain, and he certainly deserves his rank. If, by any chance, you didn`t see this movie yet, you have no idea what you are missing. Rent it, buy it...totally regardless which one you choose cause you don`t loose. If you have a surround sound...you WILL feel every explosion, every shot, every scream...and you will definitely not stop until you have seen it all.

I highly recommend this movie...in fact you can go strait out and buy it...add it to your collection...it will be one of your favorites!

The Matrix (1999)

You will watch this...over and over again !!!

It is hard...I have seen this movie twice already...but is not enough, I wanna buy it, and belive me, you will wanna buy it too. What really is the MATRIX? Anybody knows? This are only two questions but wait `till you see the movie. You`ll have soooo many questions, than you`ll not be able to sleep...what`s more, it ( the thoughts )will make you get out your bed, get on top of a building, and jump on the next building...OK, I know, I am going a little too far, but you watch the movie, YOU WILL question everything and everybody... Anyway, Keanu is playing as a hacker, and there are some scenes in the movie that makes you recall "Johnny Mnemonic"...but, Keanu soon realizes that everything and everybody that sourrounds him is ...not real! whoa...it is not an everyday kinda deal...What`s more, he finds out that he is the so called "choosen one" to save the world...Save it from what?...or from whom?...Well, I am not here to tell you the whole story, but one thing is for sure: you will love this movie, the story, the fights, the special effects...just give it a chance! As far as I am concerned, this movie deserves 10 out of 10...go see it, go buy it but don`t miss it !!!

The Quest (1996)

ANOTHER "BLOODSPORT"....

Another "bloodsport"...only worse. This was very bad. I have no idea how Van Damme convinced Roger Moore to play in his movie. Some bad acting, some bad,or very bad, fighting scenes...that`s all this movie is! If you got a chance, avoid it! I would give this movie a 3 out of 10.

Maximum Risk (1996)

not bad, not bad....

WELL...here we are, another Van Damme I think this time, he did pretty good...he is not a bad actor, but that depends on the script, producer, director, etc. Anyway, if you don`t like Van Damme, then no matter what movie he`s going to play in, it just won`t make it. So, I think, this story is pretty good. Van Damme find out that he has(sorry, HAD)a twin brother. Unfortunately, that only happens after his brother was murdered. Now this sets up a whole lot a action, since Van Damme becames curious about his brother. So, he flies to New York to find out more about his brother, not knowing that the Russian mob is after him. You see, the Russian mob has no idea that he is not who they think he is (his twin brother). Meanwhile, some bad boys from the FBI are after him as well, assuming that he will provide them with some list that will put everybody in jail, mob and FBI, if it would get out in the open. Basically, this is the story, but I would suggest you rather watch it, because it's got a lot a unpredictible scenarios. I am not such a Van Damme fan, but I would give this movie a 7 out 10.
