What a film
17 October 2001
As an avid fan of unusual things, this takes the cookie. Beesley is a native and has created some of the best documentaries I have seen in a while. Check out Hill Stomp Holler and his camera work with the Flaming Lips.

A Portrayal of Decisions
14 July 1999
It must be understood that this film is quite controversial in the fact that it has been a little more than a decade since the death of Jackie. Does this film portray a spoiled brat? I would have to say No. The director chose to portray both sisters in their separation and their reunion. Much of the first part can be categorized as Jackie being too spoiled yet we understand the reasons behind her madness, homesickness. Jackie must have known about her illness or else she would not have made so many references towards the fact that she is a slave to her talent. A talent that was derived from practicing, not pure genius. A talent she built from the foundation. If you can see behind the madness that Tucker is portraying, then you will understand that it is not madness at all, but humanity he is portraying.

Oh I can't stop
14 July 1999
Oh god I can't stop laughing. How can somebody not think this movie is pure genius. Everything about it reveals our society's stupidity which in itself is funny. Too good to miss.

Our Minds are bewildered
8 July 1999
Being from the Buckle of the Bible belt of America, this film was highly publicized mind you in no good way. I have been wanting to see this film for a long time due to the fact that Scorcese directed. My father made the comment that movies should never not demean any religion(He is not a Christian). Yet when I found out that this film was now available in the state I went and got it. There was word that it was banned in Oklahoma. But who cares? I found the title to be quite strange yet it made all the sense in the world when the credits were rolling. The fact that Christ is portrayed as a man who has to come in terms with his own reality is just as much as any man's. Our minds have told of "The King of Kings" and other such Easter weekend movies. We have been programmed to see Christ as that and nothing less. This is a challenging movie: Believe in what you cannot comprehend or see. Isn't that what every religion is based upon, including Christianity. It is particularly challenging to Christians because it is using their prophet as a doubtful man who had to come in terms with what God wanted him to do. It also calls unto another question: If God had randomly chosen Christ as a prophet then could he have chosen any of us. I ask that you spread the message about this film.

For Every human being...
2 July 1999
there is a special place that one discovers the true meaning of creativity. This film captures the great imagination of some of the most highly artistic individuals in the world, their struggle, their fight for recognition, and their fight for anything but failure. I was truly mesmerized by the fact that they used Rachmaninoff's 3rd instead of the immensely popular 2nd concerto. This movie was not made for the general mass, but to see it is to have a moment of your own creativity.

The Godfather (1972)
The Struggle of One Man
2 July 1999
If you haven't seen this movie, then you're missing a part of American history. Open your eyes to one man's struggle against the many, while he tries to keep his family and a promise to his father. If you have a close relationship with your father I highly recommend this film. If you don't, I highly recommend this film.

America is not ready
1 July 1999
When this filmed first came on the scene, there was a lot of critics that downed the intensity of this film... of course their favorite words were pseudoartistic crap. America is not ready for this film. Look at what we embrace in our films: blood, sex, nudity, shock value. America is not ready for a film that sees the attraction towards a 19 year-old as a natural thing. American normalcy sees this as wrong, deceitful, and impure. Bertolucci did not make a film, he reflected humanity through a camera. This film dives into our own psyche seeking the desires to be pure and innocent. Only America would see this as a piece of psycho sexual fantasy into our own pedophiliac desires. Watch it people, there's a substance that you're not used to seeing in everyday flicks.

Something to remind me of spirituality
21 May 1999
In so many ways this film symbolizes the struggle between our governments and our religions. It is incredible. Every detail, every painting was flawless. You must see this movie with child's mind, you must take a break from your everyday duties and understand the immense message that Lucas is bestowing on us. Our culture is once again different.

A movie as itself
14 May 1999
Too many times we fall into the trap of comparing a movie with the book. Every director and every writer has a vision and we must judge that vision through their respective mediums. This film brings an unconventional theme to a society fascinated by what they cannot have. This film symbolizes just that. Standing on its own, this film was magnificent in its visual images and music and very many other areas. Do not be caught in that trap of comparing this film to the book. Dickens should never be compared to any screenwriter in the first place.
