For the Cause (2000)

What a waste of potential
25 February 2001
I really tried hard to like this movie, but most of it's elements just don't work. The acting is merely good enough, so is the music. Some of the CGI effects look good, some even great, but there aren't enough of them to hide the low budget. Some sets, like the inside of the glass wall, reminded me of old Star Trek episodes - TOS, that is. What's left is an intriguing scenario, ripped apart by the most disappointing feature: the plot. It starts well, descents into a slow and boring trip and even manages to screw up the showdown. "For the Cause" (aka Warhammer) is more like stretched version of a weak Outer Limits episode. Too bad Tim and David Douglas failed in bringing their obvious passion for film making into the movie.

I would recommend this movie to people that...

...liked "very bad things", know all the South Park shows and love the meanest black humor that comes with The Simpsons. I think the reason why some movie critics couldn't laugh about it is just because they are too old for this kind of humor. humor that just hits you in the face with an evil grin and makes you laugh your ass off about things you would consider as "shocking" or "tragic" if they would happen in real life. but this is a satiric movie - just have fun!

Rather boring

Lesson One of "Who's the killer of the movie?": Listen to the voices. Come on... Ears + Brain = No surprise. The acting was good (Mr. Freeman as great as usual), good end, but the rest is just the standard Hollywood vs. psychopath. I read good things about the movie, inlcuding the user comments here. But it was a real disappointment.

That's what I call BAD

I think this is the worst movie I have seen since "Mortal Kombat 2". The action (including the effects) is like in a cheap Glen A. Larson TV show, the acting is terrible and the dialogs are even more stupid than in MK2. Avoid at all cost.
