Lansky (1999 TV Movie)
Pretty much a waste!
10 September 2000
This movie could have been alot better. Meyer Lansky was to me far more interresting then both Siegel or Luciano. David Mamet is a great writer, but his script here just isn't that good. A few simple details were changed and the editing isn't all that good either. They should have told the audience which period we were looking at during certain times of Lanskys life. The movie begins around 1972 in Israel then we go back to the early 1900's in Russia and then to like 1912 in Manhattan, but you don't see that. You also don't hear about the 400$ million dollars that Lansky had in Sviss banks at the time of his death which is a fact by now. His Florida operations were also very known and he was the one who gave orders to both Santo Trafficante Jnr. and Carlos Marcello. Despite the lack of storytelling the acting is great. Richard Dreyfuss is extremely good as Lansky and Perlich also, but Roberts and LaPaglia somehow didn't fit in there. I give this movie *1/2 stars out of four.

Se7en (1995)
A masterpiece!
29 July 2000
I have seen many movies in my lifetime and I know for a fact it's very hard to make a good dark thriller. I'm a movie freak and I love studying films, so I believe I know what I'm talking about when I say Seven is extremely well done. David Fincher is the director and does a brilliant job. Everything clicks here, the chemistry between the lead actors is amazing and every scene is worked so well that when you watch this you almost forget this is a movie and it's not real. Seven is as real as a movie can get, I'll tell you that. Very few dark thrillers have captured me like this one except maybe The Exorcist and Psycho. I have read some of the earlier comments about Seven here and I'm sure those who didn't like it either didn't watch it or got so scared while watching they began hating this film. I know my sister saw it and she was so scared watching it she didn't even wanna hear this films name!. So if u don't wanna see a disturbing dark thriller then don't see Seven!!!. Seven is very dark and raw and it's not for sensitive souls. But if u do wanna see a tough thriller and a good movie too then this is the one without a doubt!!!. The direction is super, the acting is outstanding and the climax is electrifying. I give this movie four stars out of four.

Gotti (1996 TV Movie)
a very good tv movie!!
31 August 1999
"Gotti" is the TRUE STORY about the notorious rise and fall of mobster, John Gotti. As a student of organized crime history, I can honestly tell you, that this movie gives you MAJOR insight into the life of John Gotti. Was he a good guy who took care of his people or a vicious bad guy?. For those who don't know, John Gotti, became very early a legend on the streets of New York City. He became a made man of the Gambino family in the early 70's. Gotti made a lot of money for the family and he quickly earned the trust of his boss, Carlo Gambino. The movie starts by showing, how Gotti seemed to have problems following [the mafia] rules at first and almost gets killed. This sets the movie very well off and gives us a better insight in, not only Gottis life, but the mafia and how they see it. Sort of like GoodFellas, but only that was the Lucchese family. The Gambino family has a alot more history and a family that was originally started by Lucky Luciano in 1931. Armand Assante who plays Gotti makes an outstanding performance here and really triggers the movies atmosphere. Anthony Quinn who plays mob kingpin Neil Dellacroce, Gottis mentor, does a wonderful job. His presence is absolute stellar. GoodFella, Frank Vincent and Bill Forsythe do a great job too. This is not a movie, this is a tv movie done by HBO and it's a rare thing to see a good tv movie these days. The director of this film, Robert Harmon, sure knows what he is up to here!!. If you liked GoodFellas, Casino and The Godfather movies then I would really recommend you to see this one.

Surprising! Some very well done scenes here
3 April 1999
This film surprised me a lot. This is Halloween 4 and the third one with horror hero Michael Myers. This time, Mike returns to his old childhood home in Haddonfield and is after his little niece (the daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis's character: Laurie Strode). This is a good slasher, very well made in almost all places. The movie begins when Myers is being transferred to a hospital after 10 years in coma. On the way, Mike wakes up and murders everyone in the car and breaks lose!! once again. Those opening scenes got of quite well and gave the movie a good start. The ones who don't agree, should watch this movie with no lights on and at night. This is scary and they pull it off well here. Michael Myers is no human being, he is a driven force of evil. He appears very realisic here, especially in the wherehouse scene (in the beginning...on the way to Haddonfield) where Dr. Loomis and Myers meet face to face. When returned to Haddonfield, we got the niece and her babysitter, Rachel. Both act very well and make a good team. But, Donald Pleasence as Dr. Sam Loomis is the super act here once again. Every time when he says 'this isn't a man', it always sounds more and more convincing. The Pleasence presence is unmissable. Without it, the movie wouldnt be much. Donald Pleasence is an old famous English actor, who has gained tremendous respect for his classic works. To me, the Loomis character gives Michael a certain spirit. A spirit that gives you the chills. The final scene proves this very well when Mikes soul seems to have entered the body of the little niece. The way the little girl appeared on top of the stair case in her costume with Donald Pleasence screaming and looking up at her from the bottom of the staircase; That gave gave me chills to my spine. I would not say this movie is perfect however. It has a few faults, but nothing major. So if u like the Halloween movies, u will like this one. Just watch it at night with no light.
