Less Cheese, More Action
5 November 2003
I think that's the best way to describe this one. The second installment, while great, had a little too much cheese in my opinion. Morpheus's speech, Trinity's "I'm never letting go" line, etc. This movie has some sick action (especially the battle in zion) and some of the classic Smith speeches we all love. I gave the first Matrix 10 (since no 9.5 is available), Second an 8 and this one a solid 9/10. Well worth the cost of a ticket to experience the sound. In fact, probably worth the cost of several tickets.

How bad is this movie?
30 July 2003
Wow, I was expecting much better than this. I honestly can't think of a movie that was more painful to watch. Scenes are cut together abruptly, poor dialogue and really no point whatsoever. My roommate and I sat watching the movie wondering..."When is this going to start" followed by "just let it end" I would stay away but if you must endure this film, good luck.

Unbelievable in parts...overdone in others
18 June 2003
I think the best way to sum this one up is to say that it is most unbelievable mediocre movie ever made. Or maybe it is the most mediocre unbelievable movie ever made. Anyway, the action in this movie is bar none but in the same vane I think many scenes are overdone. Some action scenes were so long as to lose their initial flair and became quite simply..redundant. The dialogue also flutters between bar none and just plain cheesy. For example, Morpheus's speech before the rave scene was about as bad as they come. All in all, it is an amazing movie that became victim to its own gross excessiveness. Nonetheless, I ended up seeing the movie 3 times and would not attest to seeing it many more times. 8/10.

The Matrix (1999)

Dark City with light and unbelievable special effects.
2 April 1999
If you enjoyed Dark City as I did I am quite sure you will love this movie. Dark City is one my all time favorites list and now so is The Matrix. The special effects in this movie were out of this world. They really leave you pining for more in the end. I just wanted to watch the movie over again to catch all the special effects. As far as acting goes nothing spectacular was done. I am quite happy that Keanu did not have many lines in the movie because he is not the best actor. In fact, he pretty much sucks (when he speaks) but the darkness of the movie allowed for his lack of acting abilities. Not much dynamic was needed in acting in this movie. It was your typical hard ass acting role movie. IE. there was one absolutely horrible line in the movie. (maybe more than one) When Keanu is in the car after being contacted the girl in the front seat (I think switch) tells Keanu "take your shirt off" Keanu responds by saying something to the effect of "no way". The girl then says "Listen buddy, it is my way, or the highway". She then orders the car to stop and Keanu opens the door like he is going to take the highway. This is one line they definitely should not have included so early in the movie. I thought it was going to be a flop of acting after I heard this, but thank god it was not. This movie turned out to kick some serious ass. It is definitely worth your time and money. (5 buck up here in Fort Collins). The only main thing I recommend is to find a theater that has a huge screen and awesome sound. The theaters up here in Fort Collins really stink and I probably would have had a better time with a good home stereo TV setup. So get up off your butt and go see this movie.
