Virgin River (2019– )
10/10
Amazing show & Amazing cast
3 January 2021
Virgin River is a terrific series on Netflix. The storyline reasonates with everyone in some way and is very much close to home for the average person looking to make a new start or navigating the curve balls of life. Alexandra Breckenridge is absolutely phenomenal as Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson adds such amazing depth to the character of Jack Sheridan. Season 2 was released in November and Season 3 will follow sometime in 2021 but this is a show thag should have many more seasons ahead to look forward too. Great show, excellent cast and one of Netflix's biggest wins - definately recommend!

Submerged (2000)
One of the worst of all time!
22 March 2001
I cant believe I was dumb enough to sit through this! This has to be the worst movie Ive ever seen, even beating all of Chris Klein's disasters. It's a shame really, because the plot itself has a lot of potential - submerged aircrafts, navy operations etc - usually end up drawing good crowds but this one was just horrible. This is the first time Ive seen Nicole Eggert since Baywatch, and I cant believe she would take part in such a bad movie. She still looks pretty good but even eye candy could'nt save this one. If anyone's cable operator decides to show this one on a Sunday night - sue 'em!

Killing Moon (1999 TV Movie)
Typical tv movie
28 July 2000
A made for tv movie starring Penelope Anne Miller, Killing Moon has a good plot but poor direction and screenplay. The cast did a good job with the exception of Daniel Baldwin who has absolutely no acting talent and is definately the worst performer of the Baldwin brothers. While the plot had plenty of potential, it was'nt developed properly by the writers who did a pretty ordinary job with the conclusion as well. All in all, it's a typical tv movie - good performances from Penelope Anne Miller, Daniel Kash and Diana Salvatore.

Denzel Shines
20 July 2000
Another Spike Lee Classic - Another fantastic performance by Denzel Washington. Milla Jovovich put in a decent performance but was a little short on screen time which is understandable since this was Denzel's film all the way. Public Enemy's music was terrific - especially the title song 'He got Game'. I think this movie did a lot for Denzel - it enabled him to make the jump from a terrific actor to a real star. Overall - 7/10, but it's worth watching just to see Denzel's performance. Great stuff.

Twisted - but well done.
3 July 2000
Easily Sarah Michelle Gellar's best performance to date. I really dont care how she's done on her tv show - movies are what counts, as far as Im concerned. This film was her first true opportunity to shine and she did so. People are calling Cruel Intentions a modern adaption of Dangerous Liasons - could be. Either way, this was certainly one of the best films of 1999, although granted - it did not have much competition. Also, good performances by Selma Blair and Reese Witherspoon. Overall rating 7.5/10.

Interesting look at the Disco Age.
26 June 2000
Highly enjoyable with a terrific soundtrack - Last days of Disco was a pleasant surprise. The music was terrific - the soundtrack has some catchy numbers - from Chic, Blondie etc. Standout performances from Chloë Sevigny and Christopher Eigeman. One of Sevigny's early films - definately worth watching. Movie Rating 7/10 - Soundtrack 9/10.

Gwyneth Paltrow Shines..Again.
8 June 2000
Another fantastic performance from the extremely talented Gwyneth Paltrow. She even managed to pull of a British accent keeping a straight face all along and God knows how difficult that is:) The ending is a bit disappointing - I feel the writers could have done more to make the ending a little more interesting and fulfilling for the audience. All in all - a good movie - made better by another fantastic performance from

Gwyneth Paltrow.

If you like Scream - You'll like The Curve
31 May 2000
Another black comedy but - this one is actually worth watching.

For those who enjoyed Scream - Part 1 and Wild Things - The Curve is a must see. It's an underrated production but then again, with the amount of movies coming out of Hollywood these days - you'd expect a few good ones to get lost in the crowd. Good performances - by all the guys and Keri Russell. 7/10

Great work by the cast..
28 May 2000
Great work by the cast - not so great when it comes to the writing. Heaven's Prisoners lacked a couple of key elements in writing and the film suffered as a result. Once again Kelly Lynch did a fantastic job and made tremendous use of limited screen time. Baldwin wasn't too bad either. This probably ranks as one of his best performances along with The Hunt for Red October. Teri Hatcher was HOT. Overall - Heaven's Prisoners is worth renting - if only to check out the great work by a talented, if not successful, cast.

Great Cast - Great Film
28 May 2000
Uma Thurman plays "The" Beautiful Girl which is quite an accomplishment considering one of her Co-Stars is the equally beautiful and talented Mira Sorvino. This is a good movie to watch during the weekend - it's simple, entertaining and has some fantastic performances from some of Hollywood's hottest stars Uma Thurman, Mira Sorvino, Timothy Hutton, Lauren Holly Matt Dillon among others. While the performances are good - so is the writing. It's one of those "surprise hits" for most critics but in my opinion, it definately deserves it's high rating on IMDB. Overall rating - 8/10

Boring
17 April 2000
This was really boring. You have to force yourself to sit through the movie because you feel like getting up and leaving after the first 15 minutes ! Poor script, poor direction and poor acting. This was Joshua Jackson's (Dawsons Creek) first lead role and probably his last. His lack of acting skills were painfully obvious. Overall rating 1/10.

Football Flick - Stone Style
5 April 2000
I admit I'm a bit biased towards Oliver Stone films since he's my favorite film maker. However, Any given Sunday was truly a perfect football film. Al Pacino was absolutely fantastic, but thats expected. For me - it was Cameron Diaz who stole the show. Powerful performance from Diaz. If she can get someone to hate her guts, then she's truly doing an amazing job ! A must-watch film for football fans, Stone fans, and for movie fans in general. A different project from Oliver Stone - 8/10.

A waste of time
27 March 2000
Quite frankly, this movie was simply - a waste of time. Whoever thinks Chris Klein can act, needs to get their head examined. Give him a football and a maximum of 5 lines - and he may get away with it. Poor performances with the

exception of Leelee Sobieski who did a credible job. Whoever was in charge of casting for this movie needs to

get out of the business. And Klein - should stick to football...or take major acting lessons.

Nixon (1995)
10/10
Another Stone Classic
4 February 2000
One of Stone's best. Anthony Hopkins plays Nixon to perfection. The sweaty face, the boring drawl, the nervousness that was always visible in Nixon was perfectly portrayed. The film follows Nixon's political career...his loss to President Kennedy in 1960...losing the 1962 election in California...and of course Watergate. Finally, it shows Nixon's fascination and jealousy of the Kennedy's...which played a major role in his fall. Nice.

A Simple Plan (1998)
Poor ending
8 August 1999
Bill Paxton and Bridget Fonda star in A Simple Plan. Paxton carries the film, in my opinion. Bridget Fonda is under used, as usual. Since 'It Could happen to you', she's appeared in a bunch of movies where she has little or nothing to do. Thornton puts in another decent performance, but this is Paxton's film all the way. 5/10

Great Movie!
28 July 1999
John does it again ! He's truly amazing as the Gov. who reminds us of Bill Clinton. John plays a Gov who's running for the Presidency, Emma Thompson plays his wife, and a star cast backs them up. Actually, the support actors really do a fantastic job as they potray the feelings, emotions, troubles etc that go with a Campaign and the people working on it. A terrific movie with fantastic performances by the entire cast. Bottom line..John's da man! Watch it.

What a waste!
18 April 1999
A total waste of time, Two Moon Junction. The name may sound fancy, but trust me, the movie is far from that! Sherilyn Fenn (April) is supposed to get married in a few weeks, and she meets this chap from a carnival, and goes to bed with him. The reason?? Simple. She's'looking for excitement! Sherilyn Fenn is totally wasted in this movie. Anyone who's seen her in Three of hearts will know what I mean. Overall rating...2/10. Stay clear.

Surprisingly good
15 April 1999
I saw Three of Hearts cos a friend of mine recommended it, and since I'm not a sucker for romantic comedies...it took a lot of sweet talking on her part to make me watch the movie. Anyway, I finally picked up a copy and actually ended up watching the entire movie with great interest. I thought Sherilyn Fenn looked cute throughout, and Baldwin on occasions, looked reasonably good. However, it was the extremely underrated Kelly Lynch who came out shining on all accounts. The story...Lynch and Fenn are lovers who are going through a temporary seperation, mainly at Fenn's insistence. Lynch is madly in love with Fenn, so she hires Baldwin, who plays a 'male escort' to seduce Fenn, and then break her heart so she could come back to Lynch! Confusing huh?! Well, the plot sounds pretty weird to be true...but hey..you never know!! Anyhow, a thoroughly enjoyable movie, made far better due to excellent work by Kelly Lynch.

The Big Town (1987)
Extremely Underated Production
1 April 1999
The Big Town is an underrated movie. It boasts of a fantastic cast, and an interesting storyline, yet there are few who remember this movie. I suppose the screenplay and direction could have been better, yet this movie deserves more appreciation than it actually got. Matt Dillon puts in a good performance as the young shooter from a small town, trying to make it big with the 'throw of the dice'. But the man who steals the show is Tommy Lee Jones with an excellent performance as the old timer( a shooter himself) who doesn't think too kindly of the 'new kid on the block(Dillon). Diane Lane, better known for Murder at 1600, plays his wife, and Tom Skeritt and Suzy Amis are good in supporting roles. Amis, in particular, makes excellent use of her limited screen time. This movie is definitely recommended. Truly outstanding work by the entire cast.

Underated Movie
28 March 1999
This movie deserved more recognition than it actually got. One of Judd Nelson's better performances since The BreakFast Club. Nelson plays Joe Hunt, a young business man who talks his high school mates to invest in his company..the ultimate 'get rich quickly' scheme. Things go pretty well at the start, but after a while, things start falling apart. Thats when trouble sets in, and Hunt's accused of killing Ron Levin, a con-man who owed him money. Things get very interesting from here on. Pretty good performances by Nelson and Mcnamara, who plays Hunt's right hand man, Dean Carney. I'd recommend this one.

Not as bad as one would have thought
26 March 1999
The Peacemaker, quite surprisingly, turned out to be a pretty good movie. George Clooney plays the military liaison assigned to Nicole Kidman, who happens to be the President's special expert on nuclear weapons. Brought together when someone steals a bunch of nuclear weapons, Clooney and Kidman work together to find the weapons before the terrorists decide to use them! Keeping up with Hollywood's fascination with the theft of nuclear weapons, the Peacemaker's story is not anything new, however, good performances by Clooney and Kidman make this film worth watching. Plus, the screenplay happens to be good, and the characters fit in easily with one another, so all in all, it's not a bad movie to watch.

One of the best
26 March 1999
I really liked this movie. Terrific performance by Bridget Fonda. She looked really cute. Fonda plays a waitress who's declared herself bankrupt before the angels finally smile down at her, and your average good guy appears in the form of Nicolas Cage. They fall in love and the rest, as they say, is history! Or is it?! You'll have to watch the movie to find out. One of the best releases in 94, It could happen to you is definitely going to leave you with a smile on your face. As I said earlier, Bridget Fonda was terrific, and Nicolas Cage wasn't too bad either. Check it out.

Young Guns II (1990)
Another sequel bites the dust.
26 March 1999
This film is definitely not up to the calibre of the first part. The music is terrific, courtesy Jon Bon Jovi, however, the screenplay seems to be lacking in direction. As usual, Estevez, and Phillips do a great job and Slater, for once, is not too bad. But even their acting cannot save this film from turning out to be a disappointment. The direction is really poor, and the screenplay leaves a lot to be desired. In particular, the changing of scenes can leave you totally confused. I wouldn't watch this one if I were you.

Phenomenon (1996)
One of the best movies you'll ever find.
23 March 1999
Oh man...John Travolta really did deserve an Oscar for this one. He was terrific. Truly outstanding. Ever since Pulp Fiction, he's been on a roll, and keeps getting better and better. Fantastic performances by Travolta and Robert Duvall in a supporting role. I dont really like sad endings but this one was done extremely well...truly touching. Phenomenon's soundtrack is worth listening to as well. Some of the songs are really good. All in all, if you havent seen this movie yet...you need help!!

Broken Arrow (1996)
10/10
Interesting!
23 March 1999
John Travolta plays a pilot who steals a couple of nukes and intends to blow everyone up unless the Govt pays him what he wants..Christian Slater plays the good guy..ie Travolta's partner who tries to stop him from ruining our lives, and Samantha Mathis plays a park ranger who gets caught up in the middle of all this macho stuff! Actually, she doesn't do too bad a job. As usual, Travolta steals the show, playing the physo bad guy. But while, Travolta and Mathis hold their own, Slater plain and simple...looks like a complete moron! This guy can't act to save his life! All in all, Broken Arrow is an interesting movie to watch, if only to see John Travolta put in another impressive performance.
