You Saw Me Up There (1998)
An insightful yet harrowing view of life from one mans point of view.
Henry Rollins can easily be passed off as your basic rock and roll animal due to his muscle-bound, tattooed "i can hurt you" appearance, but it's sad to know that many people will miss out on this great man due to such pretenses. Rollins is a man who (and this is a first) is honest about himself, and has no regard to what the world will think of him, simply because he knows everyones the same. This and the rest of Rollins spoken word performances are not to be missed; anybody can enjoy listening to this guy talk.
Rushmore (1998)
Rushmore is the best movie I've seen in years
When you boil it down, people watch films for entertainment--this is quite possible what makes it such an art. This is what makes Rushmore wonderful. Every element of Rushmore made it a potential classic. The wonderful directing could be seen through the many wonderful actors. The editing was wonderful, dialogue intelligent and witty, and the cinematography turned an otherwise mundane setting and made it beautiful. The techniques used are fresh and productive. Anderson is a breath of fresh air to modern cinematic direction. All intellectually redeeming characteristics aside, this movie was hilarious. It is wonderful story that is expressed beautifully on film and I highly recommend it.
