Used People (1992)
Rent it for Marcello Mastroianni's chicken dance . . .
but don't expect much else of interest. It's proof of his screen magic that one feels transported by this moment. Mastroianni seems to be freed to improvise in a lovely kitchen scene. It is always a treat to see him in a scene with children.
Che ora è? (1989)
Everyone at the screening I attended could relate to these characters.
I think both men and women at the screening I attended identified with at least one of the main characters. Mastroianni and Troisi complement each other perfectly in this honest portrayal of a parent whose grown son is a stranger. It's a shame this was never widely seen in the US.
So This Is Paris (1926)
A delightful jazz-age bon-bon.
A delightful jazz-age bon-bon.
Lots of fun and frollick, with some lovely "art titles" and simple but effective camera tricks, keep this from being a run of the mill romantic triangle comedy.
Keep your eyes peeled for a quick-as-a-wink appearance by Myrna Loy as the maid of the Lalle household.
