Life Is Sweet (1990)
The Best of Leigh
27 May 1999
Leigh is my favorite director-- and this is one of his best. You get a better idea of what these characters are like watching this film than you could by moving in w/them for a few months. Excellent.

Happiness (1998)

The Banality of Perversion & Dysfunction, middle-America style
8 May 1999
Hysterically funny, well-acted, dead- on accurate look at the miseries of our middle-class lives (that we would rather not acknowledge, much less watch a movie about, thank you very much.) Highly recommended by this viewer, use it as a litmus test for your appreciation of honesty and your sense of humor in regard to this absurd existence we have created here in Have-a-Nice-Day land.

The Governess (1998)
Exquisitely Done

Do not be put off by the negative comments in the user reviews here! This is a thoughtful, lovely, well-made film. I would watch it again, which is, for me, the highest endorsement. I can not comprehend how anyone could find it "boring".

Witty and Well-done
12 January 1999
Very funny movie, one of my favorites. The entire cast was great but Julia Walters was excellent, as always. "Popazokaloo" should have become a household word, apparently not enough people saw the movie. The scene in the loo will make you laugh till you cry. I find it interesting that the men I know that have seen the movie don't find it as amusing as the women who have viewed it do. (Watch it and draw your own conclusions about my observation.)
