The Getaway (1994)
Don't even bother...
Don't even bother with this movie, it's bad when judged on it's own merits, but when compared to the 1972 original (which IS a classic) it's down right awful. And BTW, somebody commented that the 1972 movie is bad when compared to the book. This is silly, movies should never be judged against the books they are taken from. They are 2 completely different art forms (as if this needed to be pointed out but apparently it does). If you used this criteria for all movies then "2001" would suck and so would "Forest Gump" and "Silence of the Lambs".
The Horse Whisperer (1998)
awful
This was an awful movie .... Bad acting, Bad story, good scenery.... good for the family if your kids have trouble falling asleep. There was no chemistry to be found between any of the actors, a bad plot, erratic characterizations, boring draggy shots, no steamy sex scenes, alas .... a real bomb in today's movies.
Among the many drawbacks -- it was way too long, the mother's attitude toward everything was way neurotic through out the movie, and Robert Redford's character, when looked at objectively, was a weirdo. People who actually thought this was a good movie, give me pause.
Gummo (1997)
If you really want to know...
Awful. It's one of these movies that the hipper than thou crowd will say is "way cool". But believe me, it's not. Film maker Harmony Korine goes out his way to show you every kind of freak living in a small town in Ohio. And for all the freaks that are paraded before you the movie turns out to be a bore. It's also a waste of actress Chloe Sevigny's talents.
