O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Just not very good...
The music is the best thing about this movie. Attempts to lip synch to it are rather lame.
For all the money it must have cost to make this movie, like many Hollywood movies, the viewer feels very distant from any reality it's trying to portray.
What's Cooking? (2000)
Disappointing
It was somewhat entertaining but ultimately disappointing. The film has been Hollywoodized completely -- it's slick and simple. Some of the lines and acting is rather wooden. Many of the characters are two dimensional.
Not half as good as Bhaji on the Beach and proof that money spent on making a film look good does not necessarily make it into a good film.
Rushmore (1998)
save your money
We went to see it based on the preview where Murray hits the kid sitting behind him in the car. That was mildly funny. The movie isn't. It joins a long line of lame Hollywood 'comedies".
Central do Brasil (1998)
A beautiful, sad movie with real people -- something Hollywood can't do. See it
