The Crow (1994)
I want 1.5 hours of my life back!!!!!!!!!
Oh my god! I rented this film because I heard all these "Rave Reviews" of "The Crow." I got home and decked out my house with the movie watching atmosphere. I was all excited to see this Brilliant piece of work, when I got something else, a piece of CRAP. This is now officially the Worst Movie i have ever seen, it replaces any movie made starring Bill Murray, and Steve Martin, for this title. I can't believe this got good reviews, i can't even believe it got reviews at all because i can't belive this is actually a movie! I kept thinking "Okay, ill give it a bit, maybe it will get better" i kept saying this until the end credits. Original?...maybe. But the acting was horrible, the set design was sappy and cheap, the script was amateur, and the characterization was the worst part of the film. It felt like i was watching a kids comic book put on film. To explain this movie to a friend, I would have to say it is like the movies "Bat Man" and "Barb Wire" combined. I am extremely anxious to here some sort of justification to this nightmare of a movie that wasted hundreds of yards of expensive film. Speaking of expenses, I probably could guarantee that the budget of this movie, was lower than the amount of spare change I could find in my couch cushions. I almost wanted to cry because this movie took 1.5 hours of my life that I can never get back. And in closing, I say this, if this is the type of movie that is going to get rave reviews from critics around the world, then God Help Us All.
Great Expectations (1998)
And we have a winner
Great Expectations is definitely my new favorite movie of all time. This is truly an excellent movie and a 10 in my eyes. The plot is filled with Symbolism-- from the empty bottle on the subway, to the singer in the art gallery. We can feel exactly what fin bell is going through every step of the way and a big amount of pathos is directed to him. Every character in this movie was very well developed and clear on their character traits. I definitely hope it wins an award...or two.
Se7en (1995)
Get sucked into a dark world of terror and sin.
Se7en is definitely one of the absolute best films I have ever seen. The whole atmosphere is as dark and scarey as the actual killings and action. Morgan Freeman gives yet another excellent dramatic role who is sick of city crime but is unknowingly getting pulled into another game of violence. This is Kevin Spacey's best role as an actor for sure, he plays the part, and fits the characters needs perfectly. The only thing you can do to him in the movie is hate him to your fullest extent. For some people, they thought Se7en was too slow or dragged out, but I think that it just added to the depressing plot to make the film seem more real than you can immagine. If you have a weak stomach, I commend you for making it past the opening credits.
Set It Off (1996)
This Movie Will Blow You Away
I rented this movie expecting to see just another average gang related film about the Ghetto, but I was proved wrong. It ended with my eyes wide opened and my mouth to the floor. Set It Off is a very Dramatic film and the performances by the four women were done perfectly. Set It Off reached my heart and all my emotions. It starts off light, but ends deep and touching. There is no possible way you could leave from watching this movie without your eyes being flooded. -A heart-filled film that deserved more publicity than it received.
