A gorgeous dystopia but is that what we need?
10 October 2017
It was an incredible film. Every frame was sumptuous and the sound effects and music quite epic (I wasn't always sure where one started and the other ended). By the end of it though I was a nervous wreck. Of the current glut of dystopian films this was fantastic. HOWEVER we have a glut of dystopian movies. ALL the previews before the film showed the Earth in periled by disaster or monsters or aliens. Being in the biz I know the big shots will say "it's what the public wants". If they want to help the future of Earth maybe they need to give the public what it needs. We need hope and we need visions of a better future and the entertainment industry could very well lead the way if it wasn't so absorbed with pandering for megabucks.

The Last Shot (2004)
Veteran film worker loved it.
17 October 2004
I've worked "in the biz" for 16 years and thoroughly enjoyed this wacky film. It might seem exaggerated but I've seen a lot of crazy things done by people in the biz and by wannabes. Joan Cusack was a standout. You could see just how much fun the actors had in making this film. These behind-the-scenes types of films work because everyone wants to be in the movies and lots of funny stories get generated. An excellent and respected cast of people who seem more interested in the acting craft than doing flattering ego-driven superstar roles. My hat is off to the whole cast and crew. I would have loved to have worked on this one. Other films that I enjoyed in this genre are LIVING IN OBLIVION and STATE AND MAIN.

Dragnet (2003–2004)
L.A. Dragnet; Cancelled!
6 November 2003
Yes, it's true. The show has been cancelled as of 11/14/03. The fault lies with ABC; they put it in a lousy time slot and barely promoted the show. The second season will have 10 episodes assuming that all the shows that were completed get shown. There is a tiny chance that NBC could take it but who knows.

An incredible visual feast for those looking for a non-western paced epic.

See this film! A gorgeous use of cinema from an African point-of-view. There is almost no music track which helps to emphasize the wide open spaces of the African desert. Very simple but effective use of reverse film technique for supernatural effects. A very stunning film for the adventurous filmgoer.
