Catherine Zeta-Jones Wow!

Entrapment stars Sean Connery as a thief and Catherine Zeta-Jones as an insurance agent who tries to track Connery's character down after he steals a priceless painting that has been insured by her company. This movie grabs you from the very start and doesn't let go, taking you on a wild ride filled with ultra-cool hi-tech gadgets, great stunts and unexpected plot twists. Fans who went to see this movie because of Catherine Zeta-Jones will not be disappointed. The ending is the only bad thing about this movie. It is contrived and over the top even for Hollywood

My brother saw this movie in New Zealand over christmas break. He said it was the funniest movie of the year. He was right. The plot centers around a group of friends who lose 500,000 Pounds(that's a little over $800,000) playing cards and hatch a scheme to get it back so they can pay off their debt. Non-stop Comedy and violence ensue from there. Writer/Director Guy Ricthie weaves an intricate plot using snappy well written dialogue, a cavalcade of zany characters and cool filming effects. A must see!

I didn't think Chun yow-fat could make a movie worse than The Replacement Killers but here it is. This is the first time this year that I left the theater wanting a refund. The only good thing about this movie is Mark Wahlberg's performance but that isn't good enough to save this movie. Rating: 4

8mm Stars Nicolas Cage as a detective who is hired by a Millionaire's wife to verify the authenticity of a snuff film she finds after his death. It was an okay movie. It reminds you that there is evil in this world and that the people who perpetrate the evil look like normal average people on the outside but inside they are sick monsters. After the movie I felt really creepy. It took 3 hours of watching Cartoon Network to cheer me up :)

This movie is about a guy named Ed who gets his life televised 24/7. I'm getting tired of hearing people compare this to The Truman Show. To me these movies are totally different. They are both great movies. To try and compare the two is unfair to both. For one thing Truman Show is a drama while EdTV is a comedy. Another difference is that Truman's whole life was constructed for him by Christof and Ed freely chooses his fame. I saw The Truman Show as being about paranoia and who can you trust? EdTV is about the price of fame and what your fame can do to the people you love. It is one of the funniest movies of the year. Rating 8

It is hilarious to see Robert DeNiro do spoofs on all his previous Mob characters. To see him crying after all the tough guys he has played it is really funny. Billy Crystal is excellent as his therapist who is trying to help him through his anxiety issues. I want to see it again so I can hear all the lines I missed the first time because I was laughing so hard. Rating 10

This was one of those movies where I left the theater wanting my money back. Rating 4.

I had heard almost nothing about this movie except that the acting was superb and that Nick Nolte is a policeman investigating a hunting accident in a small town. I love police and investigation movies and so I decided to go. The movie starts out great with Nick Nolte investigating the accident but as the movie goes on the investigation becomes less and less important in the plot. The movie becomes a contest between Nick Nolte's character and his father (played brilliantly by the great James Coburn) as to who has the more pathetic life. The movie just kind of let's the investigation part of the plot drop without any resolution. It is a horrible movie totally undeserving of all the praise and Oscar nominations it's been getting. The only redeeming thing about this movie is the performance of James Coburn as the alcoholic father. I'm glad he got an Oscar nomination because he deserves it. Nick Nolte does not. His acting in this movie is nothing special. This was one of those movies where I left the theater wanting my money back. Rating 4.

I was very disappointed in this movie. When I saw the previews for it they led me to believe that this movie was going to be a romantic comedy. In reality there is not much of either in the film. Unfortunately this was of those times where all the good/funny parts of the movie were in the previews so if you've seen the previews you don't need to go to this movie.

This movie is awesome! It is one of my favorites of the year so far. Everyone should see this movie. Gary Ross is a genius. William H. Macy has the 50's TV dad down perfect. and once again Jeff Daniels shows his versatility he can do both comedy and drama equally well. There were some things I didn't like about this movie. I thought that the affair between Mr. Johnson and the mother was unnecessary.Rating 9

This movie blew me away. If you can see only one of the animated bug movies this year see this one instead of Antz. the plot, characters, and jokes are better in A Bugs life. Also when you go stay in your seat until the end of the credits. it's the best part of the movie. Rating 9

The most popular guy in high school makes a bet with his friends that he can make any girl in the school into the prom queen. Of course his friends choose the nerdiest girl in school and of course he falls in love with her. Sure, this movie is predictable and follows a formula, but it is a formula that works. I have always been a big fan of John Hughes who gave us movies like The Brekfast Club and 16 Candles. If you liked those movies you'll like this one too. I didn't think it was all that but it was entertaining and fun. I'm glad I saw it. Rating 8

Varsity Blues (1999)

This movie is about High School football in Texas. John Voight is great as the coach who will sacrifice anything to win.The other actors were good as well especially the guy who played Billy Bob. Sure, its predictible but its also entertaining and fun. It was much better than I thought it would be. Rating: 7

You know that a movie starring both Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan is going to be great. This one doesn't disappoint. I loved every minute of it. The story was great and the dialogue was well written. I'm planning to see it again as soon as I can and I'll be buying the video when it comes out. Rating: 10

I was very disappointed in this movie after all the hype.

I'll start with what I liked - which wasn't much. 1. The Movie is a war movie. Hollywood should make more of them. 2. The Movie is beautifully filmed. 3. Nick Nolte is awesome in this movie. He deserves an Oscar nomination. 4. The battle scenes were great.

What I hated: 1. The length. I was looking at my watch wishing I had chosen to go to Shakespeare in Love which was playing in the same Theater. 2. The Screenplay - there wasn't one 3. The narrative style. The flashbacks made me feel disoriented and lost. I'd be watching the guys on the island and then they would cut to a girl in a swing. I kept thinking ok, where am I now? The flashbacks were totally unnecessary. 4. Besides Nick Nolte the acting in this movie was bad.

Mel Gibson plays Porter. I wasn't expecting this movie to be funny but it is very funny. This movie has the perfect blend of action and humor. It also has a great supporting cast. Kris Kristofferson, James Coburn, and William Devane are great as the three guys who run the outfit. My favorite movie of 1999 so far. A must see! Rating: 9

A great and very sad movie with a great cast. Probably another Oscar nomination for Susan Sarandon as the mother. Julia Roberts has the clueless but trying hard stepmom role down perfectly. The kids in this movie are great as well. I hope to see more from them in future. Rating:10
