The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967)
Great Gangster Flick
Although this movie does not rate like the Godfather epics, it is not that far behind them. It is a very good gangster movie. I originally saw it on the big screen when it first appeared at the theaters, back in the late 1960's. As far as I'm concerned, it has not lost it's appeal. It is as entertaining today as it was back then. I can watch it over and over again, and have. It contains a good cast, and great narration throughout the film. If you like gangster movies, especially those that involve the Roaring Twenties, and the Al Capone era, you will enjoy this movie, and it is a must see.
Frankenstein (1931)
GRANDFATHER OF HORROR FILMS
Growing up in the early 60's this movie scared the heck out of me every time I watched it. The sets, the Gothic atmosphere, the make up and Boris Karloff make this movie a true horror classic. The movie may be vintage by today's standards, but even without the blood, gore and special effects of the modern horror films this movie is still number one in my book. Although the film was made 68 years ago, and numerous horror films have been made since, come Halloween you can always find Karloff's monster on a display somewhere. Without a doubt this movie is the grandfather of all horror films.
The Valachi Papers (1972)
A GOOD GANGSTER MOVIE
I thought this was one of the better gangster pictures I have seen. There were many events in the picture that were based on fact. I also found it interesting that most of the actors actually resembled the characters they were portraying. Great work by the make up crew. This was an entertaining film, and a must see for Charles Bronson fans.
