Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it

This being the pilot episode where the main characters background(s) have to be initially revealed to the audience obviously eats into the pilot episodes air time so the actual initial plot may be a bit convoluted but yet, it kept me interested. And yes, I did see the 1999 major motion picture The Bone Collector which this new crime/mystery series is based upon.

Let's give this series a few more episodes to gain some of that valuable (writing) experience before assessing whether this new crime/mystery series is worthy of support from a mandatory sized audience to extend the series into a second season.

I liked the lead actors/actresses and how each person(s) old baggage is introduced to the audience in this pilot episode. It is a lot of information to pack into a 45 minute TV episode. Let's not try and compare the two (2) hour major motion picture of 1999 The Bone Collector, starring Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifah with this new TV crime series.

I give credit to Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector for bringing to the small screen a new crime/mystery series with some depth of character and story line. Actor Brían F. O'Byrne who plays the serial killer that Lincoln Rhyme (Russell Hornsby ) is chasing are both perfectly cast as the illusive bone collector and as the confined to a bed serial killer investigator.

I am optimistic that the future story lines of Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector will be a cut above the other standard crime TV series that should have been taken off the air some several seasons ago. (You know which crime series I am referring to).

An excellent start to the year 2020

Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, Based on The Bone Collector novel by Jeffery Deaver.. Flashbacks to how Lincoln became a tetraplegic through the actions of the serial Killer known as the Bone Collector. He's now a consultant with the NYPD, In the opening episode he has to deal with a copycat killer and gets a new assistant, Amelia Sachs who suffers from PTSD after witnessing the murder of her parents at age 14. They kind of complement each other. A promising first episode. On Sky Witness. 8/10.

Pilot

Jeffery Deaver's novel was turned to a rather average movie, The Bone Collector despite its star power pairing of Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.

Not it has been rebooted as a television show. The pilot has the paralysed Lincoln Rhyme as Sherlock Holmes hunting the return of The Bone Collector, the man who left him disabled several years earlier.

Police officer Amelia Sachs joins Rhyme as she discovered a victim in the New York subway that has the same method of The Bone Collector.

The Bone Collector is very much painted as Moriarty in the pilot. We know his identity already, so it is a case of a cat and mouse game between the two.

The series will span ten episodes and it seems Rhyme and Sachs will investigate other murders with The Bone Collector being the arc.

This was an efficient and fast moving opener. Although I did wonder how they were going to sustain the mystery over 10 episodes and then they showed the murderer.

So the television series will veer to a different direction. A promising pilot but nothing too original though.

Close to a parody on the genre

I wanted to like this. I did. But it comes off so forced, so unnatural that it's almost a parody.
