Rajinikanth To Top The Kollywood Box Office With Thalapathy Vijay’s Exit & Upcoming Big Films?(Photo Credit –IMDb)
After Jailer’s super success, it seems that Rajinikanth will be unstoppable at the box office. The reason behind it is the exciting lineup of upcoming films, which carry a huge potential of setting ticket windows on fire. Other than that, Thalapathy Vijay’s decision to step away from films is going to prove beneficial to Thalaiva. Keep reading to know more!
For those who don’t know, Thalapathy Vijay is arguably the biggest superstar in Kollywood at the present moment. Of course, Vijay’s position is highly debatable as many still believe that Rajinikanth is still ruling the roost. But considering the box office openings, worldwide performance of the films in the last few years, hold over the state of Tamil Nadu, and potential growth in the future, Vijay is said to be slightly ahead.

General Hospital comings and goings confirm Gregory Chase is out and his heartbreaking death will rock Port Charles to its core on the ABC daytime drama.
General Hospital Comings & Goings: Gregory Chase Wraps it Up
Gh comings and goings sadly report Gregory Chase’s time on the sudser is officially over. Fans have known for quite some time now that he would pass away sooner rather than later due to his Als. The disease takes away a person’s ability to function little by little until they can no longer function at all.
So, viewers likely thought Gregory would have more time. Also, many were hoping for a misdiagnosis so the Gregory could get a cure and stick around. Sadly, that wasn’t the case and he passed away in his sleep due to heart failure the night of his son Harrison Chase’s wedding.

The name Harry Hole may sound like a joke to a lot of English speakers, but Norwegian author Jo Nesbø has managed to build a bestselling series of crime novels around the character – whose last name is meant to be pronounced as “Hoo-leh.” There have been thirteen books in the Harry Hole series to date, with the seventh one having previously been brought to the screen as the 2017 film The Snowman… which, despite having Tomas Alfredson at the helm, Martin Scorsese on board as a producer, and a strong cast that included Michael Fassbender as Hole, did not turn out well. (You can read our 3/10 review Here.) Now Nesbø is seeking redemption for his character by teaming with Working Title and the Netflix streaming service for a series called Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole, which is set to star Tobias Santelmann (The Last Kingdom) as Hole. Deadline has unveiled an image of Santelmann in character,...

Netflix and Working Title have found their Harry Hole.
German-Norwegian actor Tobias Santelmann (The Last Kingdom) will play the lead in the Jo Nesbø adaptation, which will be officially titled Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole.
Santelmann is joined by Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon, The Suicide Squad) playing Tom Waaler and Pia Tjelta (Made in Oslo, State of Happiness) as Rakel Fauke. The casting has been announced in the past few minutes at the iconic restaurant Schrøder in Oslo, Norway, which also serves as Harry Hole’s ‘second home’ in the novels.
Created by the much-loved Scandi crime fiction author, Nesbø’s Harry Hole is a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by the famed anti-hero. Underneath the surface, it is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler.

Burnt Flowers, the new film from writer/director Michael Fausti, begins with a series of scenes swiftly moving back and forth between London’s Rose Bar in 1968, Islington in 1983 and the Islington Police Station in 1992.
The last location is where Detective Franc Alban has a visitor, Alice Kyteller. She’s there to report a missing person, her husband Austin whom she last saw eight years ago in a brothel. Why has she waited so long to report him missing? “I thought he might come back”. She can’t offer any information and hasn’t so much as asked his friends about him, but she is sure that she and Detective Alban have met before.

Elizabeth Taylor remains one of the most iconic actresses to ever grace the silver screen. And she knew it, coming out of a partial retirement to play the role of Pearl Slaghoople – the mother to Elizabeth Perkins’ Wilma and mother-in-law to John Goodman’s Fred – in 1994’s The Flintstones, an adaptation of the Hanna-Barbera production. But getting such prestige comes at a high cost. Like, a present every day she was on set-level of cost.
While Elizabeth Taylor isn’t in much of The Flintstones, her sheer stature put her in a position to demand just about anything she wanted, to which producer Bruce Cohen was happy to oblige. Kyle MacLachlan – who played Slate & Co.’s VP Cliff Vandercave in The Flintstones – remembered, “The cast was crazy. Bruce got Elizabeth Taylor to do that movie. It was amazing. She had to have a gift every day. A gift every day.

“’I sacrificed my love on the altars of fame,’ Leonard Cohen said in the ‘70s,” “So Long, Marianne” showrunner Øystein Karlsen notes. Cohen was referring of course to his ‘60s decade-long relationship with Norway’s Marianne Ilhen, which shaped him for life.
One of the highest-profile and most anticipated world premieres in Series Mania main competition, “So Long, Marianne” is a coming of age love story which, in a quietly innovative, genre-breaking turn, asks whether the place in the world chosen by one character, Leonard Cohen, was always for his good.
Sold by Cineflix Rights as an eight-part series, “So Long, Marianne” begins in 1959 focusing on Norway’s Marianne Ilhen and Cohen’s love idyll on Hydra, a Greek island, which Ilhen reaches as the partner of budding Norwegian novelist Axel Jensen, and Cohen looking to find a place where, he says in Episode 1, he “can take responsibility for my own identity.

Leonard Cohen had a huge impact on generations of fans, and So Long, Marianne star Alex Wolff is one of them.
Speaking exclusively to Deadline ahead of So Long‘s worldwide premiere at Series Mania this week, Oppenheimer and Hereditary actor Wolff paid tribute to the late singer-songwriter. “His contribution to my life has been so substantial that whatever words I have don’t sum up what he’s meant to my working life and to me personally,” he said.
Wolff, who is himself a musician and recording artist, plays Cohen in So Long, Marianne, which is one of the buzziest international series at Series Mania, which is Europe’s largest scripted television festival. The Nrk and Crave series is the International Competition category against the likes of Peacock’s Apples Never Fall and the ABC’s House of Gods.

“Power Play” – a scathing, scabrous chronicle of Gro Harlem Brundtland unlikely climb to power as Norway and Scandinavia’s first woman prime minister – won the 2024 Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize for best drama series screenwriting at Sweden’s Göteborg Film Festival Tuesday night.
Awarded at the fest’s TV Drama Vision, the prize went to the satirical series’ main writers Johan Fasting, Silje Storstein and Kristin Grue. The Nordic drama series screenwriting award carries a cash prize of €20,000.
With the Nftfp win, “Power Play,” like “Blackport” before it, completes a double of winning a top TV fest in Europe – it walked off with best series at Canneseries last year – and then the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize.
While Nordic Noir exposed human evil festering below Scandinavia’s acclaimed social democracy, “Power Play” underscores a more recent TV phenomenon of exposing the myth to that model and its decline via comedy and farce.

At its latest edition, which takes place parallel to the Helsinki Intl. Film Festival — Love & Anarchy, the Finnish Film Affair will again host its well-received Nordic Flair training program, an initiative designed to offer career development for film professionals from across the Nordic region.
After a 2022 edition that focused on sales agents, distributors, buyers and broadcast commissioners, this year’s event will host actors working in one or more of the Nordic countries. Maria Pirkkalainen-Barber, head of Finnish Film Affair and Nordic Flair, says the goal in Helsinki is to offer a launching pad for rising talents looking to take the next step in their careers.
“The opportunities for actors to develop their own chances for an international breakthrough can be challenging, and access to agents and casting directors is competitive. Not to mention how the pandemic years made it more difficult for actors to build international networks,” Pirkkalainen-Barber says.

Neve Campbell is attending the Toronto International Film Festival — not as an actress but in her capacity of producer of “Swan Song”, the Chelsea McMullan-directed documentary taking viewers inside the National Ballet of Canada’s 2022 production of “Swan Lake”, directed and staged by the legendary Karen Kain.
“Karen Kain was my idol. She is the one of the reasons I became an artist”
Campbell spoked with Et Canada’s Sangita Patel, who asked her if, now that she’d produced, she might next have her eye on directing.
“You know, it’s interesting. I was just offered to direct something and I read it, but I’m not going to do it,” she said.
“I realize, you know, you have to, if you’re going to direct, because it takes so much more time than acting, because pre-production, post-production, the whole thing,” she continued. “You have to love it.

Killer Mike has announced Michael Deluxe, a deluxe edition of the solo album he shared back in June. The new release will arrive next Friday, September 15th, and Mike is celebrating the announcement by sharing a bonus track called “Maynard Vignette” featuring T.I., Jid, and Jacquees.
Along with the original tracklist that comprises Michael, Michael Deluxe will feature four new bonus tracks: “Maynard Vignette” along with “Yes,” “Get Some Money,” and “Act Up.” A press release describes is as something like a “director’s cut,” expanding beyond the more concise version Mike had whittled down for the initial release. Additionally, fans can finally get their hands on the music in physical formats, with the long-awaited vinyl and CD versions of the album available to pre-order now.

The Pocket Film of Superstitions opens with a title card that reads “The Following Moving Picture Presentation May Contain Scenes of Irreverence”, and irreverent is a very apt way to describe the latest film from writer/director Thomas Lee Rutter.
It’s shot with the visual stylings of an old silent movie complete with the blue tint they used to indicate a night scene and the occasional title card. But it isn’t a silent film, there are sound effects and occasional short exchanges of dialogue. But most of the information is relayed to the viewer via narration by Shend, which is probably the best choice for a film like this.

Raleigh, North Carolina indie rockers Truth Club have announced their next album, Running from the Chase, due for release on October 6th via Double Double Whammy. Along with today’s announcement comes the new single “Exit Cycle,” which features Indigo De Souza, as well as a run of 2023 tour dates.
Truth Club have enjoyed a steady ascent since the release of their 2019 debut LP Not an Exit. Since then, the band’s three original members — singer/guitarist Travis Harrington, drummer Elise Jaffe, and guitarist/bassist Kameron Vann — added guitarist/bassist and singer Yvonne Chazal to their lineup, with a goal to “hold space for criticism, critique, input, and inspiration from the rest of the band in any context” while making their new record.

Holistay is the latest in an ever-growing list of AirBnB-themed horrors. From Creep Nation and Exit through Superhost and, of course, Barbarian there’s a plethora of films warning us to get a hotel room if we want to stay alive. Although considering how many horror films have been set in hotels, maybe we should just stay home,
Opening with a brief scene where two individuals whose faces we don’t see pull up to a house and do some half-assed cleaning then leave, Holistay then introduces us to an Irish couple Finn and Branna who are in San Diego, the film was actually shot in Los Vegas, on vacation.
They’ve barely gotten into their rental when Tony and Gia (Gabriela Kulaif; Kaka Nirvana) arrive from New York. There’s been a double booking.

Killer Mike is gearing up to release his new album, Michael, this Friday, and he’s shared a collaboration with fellow Atlanta rappers André 3000 and Future called “Scientists & Engineers” as a final preview. Stream it below.
Also featuring a contribution from R&b singer Eryn Allen Kane, the “Scientists & Engineers” instrumental contains futuristic synths that contrast with the soulful backing vocals about living forever as all three rappers spit introspective verses. Whereas André hopes he’ll get a “second wind” at 80 and Future talks about turning “a trap house to a ranch,” Mike closes out the track by promising to keep it “a hundred percentage authentic.” He adds, “I got no gimmicks, so I ain’t protectin’ no image.”
Along with “Scientists & Engineers,” Mike shared the full list of features for the album, which includes Ty Dolla $ign, Curren$y, 2 Chainz, 6Lack, Kaash Paige, CeeLo Green, Jagged Edge, Mozzy,...

Filmmaker and Director of Photography Alexandra Bas’ latest short for fashion brand Penguin is entitled The Distance Between Us, a name which alludes to the themes of openness and vulnerability amongst young men that sit at the core of the company’s campaign. Bas brings these themes to fruition visually with wide, dynamic compositions that boast rich colours and lyrically through a poetic narration which underpins the intimacy being shown, as these men gather and frolic against the backdrop of a grand, elegant home. Dn is excited to premiere the Director’s Cut of this short film, which expands on the core ideas of the original campaign spot, in conjunction with a conversation with Bas where she takes us through the genesis of the Director’s Cut, her process of working as a director/cinematographer on the project, and the challenge of bridging a traditional fashion film with something more narrative-focused.

Revenues at Bertelsmann’s Luxembourg-based Rtl Group, a media giant which owns Fremantle, slid 9% to €1.4 billion ($1.5 billion) for the first quarter of 2023, financial results released on Thursday have revealed.
The group attributes this to “significantly lower TV advertising revenue,” particularly in Germany, and the disposals of Rtl Belgium and Rtl Croatia.
Fremantle’s revenues were down 5.6% to €435 million (Q1/2022: €461 million), mainly due to timing effects of production deliveries, the group said.
The group’s total advertising revenue fell to €700 million (Q1/2022: €829 million), of which €545 million represented TV advertising revenue (Q1/2022: €653 million), €76 million digital advertising revenue (Q1/2022: €83 million) and €39 million radio advertising revenue (Q1/2022: €46 million). Distribution revenue was down by 1.8% to €107 million (Q1/2022: €109 million).
On the positive side, the group’s streaming services Rtl+ and Videoland continued growing, with paying subscribers up 37.1% to 5.9 million and streaming revenue up 15.6% in Q1/2023.

Cecily Strong finds it tough to watch NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” as a bystander after being a crucial member of the core cast of the show for over 11 seasons.
“I have to admit, it’s hard for me to watch the show right now,” Strong told Andy Cohen on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” earlier this week.
Strong, who holds the record for longest-tenured female cast member, left the show in December, midway through her 11th season. Her exit followed that of other longtime cast members like Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Chris Redd, all of whom left before the start of the season. By all accounts, she left long-running sketch show on great terms. Still, she agreed with Cohen when he compared the series to an ex-boyfriend.

Variety has been given exclusive access to the trailer (below) for “Power Play,” which world premieres in the main competition section at next month’s series festival Canneseries. The fiction series is a raucous satire inspired by the real-life goings on behind the scenes when politician Gro Harlem Brundtland came to power in Norway in 1981. The power struggles and backroom bickering in the show bring to mind “Veep” and “In the Loop.”

So!YoON!, the leader and frontperson of Korean-based band Se So Neon, has unveiled her new title track, “Smoke Sprite.” The collaboration with rapper and BTS leader Rm arrives alongside So!YoON!’s sophomore album, Episode1: Love. Stream the song below.
The track is anchored by So!YoON!’s characteristic rock sound. It’s driven by heavy guitar and balanced out by a smooth verse from the BTS member. Ahead of the full release of Episode1: Love, So!YoON! shared pre-release singles “Canada” and “Bad.” While the latter was a more lo-fi offering, “Smoke Sprite” kicks things into heavier territory.
“Stuck with you in your dreams/ Tell me more, I could die,” she sings on the chorus. The music video sees the two dressed in black, trading off against a series of gritty backdrops. Rm kicks off his verse with, “Honey, what you doin’ in my bed?/ Baby,...

Before the LGBTQ teen sex comedy “Bottoms” premiered at the SXSW Film Festival Saturday, festival director Claudette Godfrey told the Paramount Theater audience to prepare themselves for an experience that defied description. That’s largely what they got.
The movie stars Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”) as high schoolers who decide to form a girls’ fight club — technically, a self-defense club — in order to convince the two hottest cheerleaders in school to sleep with them. What unfolds isn’t quite like any high school sex comedy before it, which was exactly what director Emma Seligman (“Shiva Baby”) — who wrote the screenplay with Sennott — set out to do.
“I wanted to create a teen female queer story where the characters were not undergoing trauma but also weren’t these perfect, sweet, innocent beings,” Seligman said in the audience Q&a following the premiere. “We wanted to create messy, complicated,...

In our Q&a /feature series Tell Me Más, we ask some of our favorite Latinx artists to answer the questions only their BFFs know about them, revealing everything from their most recent read to the songs that get them hyped. This month, singer-songwriter Elena Rose takes the test, and we are all ears.
Before manifestation - or the laws of attraction - went mainstream, Venezuelan singer-songwriter Elena Rose, born Andrea Elena Mangiamarchi Hernández, was learning about the wisdom behind how to live intentionally from her "super-spiritual mom."
Ever since she was a little girl, Rose, now 27 years old, knew she wanted to be a singer. While she always trusted that she could manifest that dream into existence, she knew the first step was leaving Venezuela. So, at 19, Rose and her 16-year-old sister migrated to the States to start a whole new life.

Apple TV+ is kind of an oddity in the streaming world — it doesn't have the kind of draw as some of the big dogs like Netflix or HBO Max, but it does have some incredible original programming. Seriously, it's worth checking out for at least a month and binging all of "Mythic Quest," "Ted Lasso," and "Severance" out so far. Now it looks like there might be another reason to check out the streaming service, as Deadline reports that a new murder mystery series called "Lazarus" will be coming to Apple TV+. Why is "Lazarus" exciting? It's set to feature "Deadpool 2" and "Atlanta" star Zazie Beetz and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" and "Peaky Blinders" star Tom Hardy in the lead roles, which sounds amazing.
The series is still in very early development, which means that everything here is subject to change and will be updated as new information comes out,...
