On the latest episode of Defending Jacob on Apple TV+, Jacob's (Jaeden Martell) trial was at the forefront with Neal Loguidice (Pablo Schreiber) trying the case that otherwise would have been handled by his one-time mentor, Andy Barber (Chris Evans).
Schreiber's character has seemed like the antagonist for the run of the series, and Neal going toe-to-toe in the courtroom with Andy gave Schreiber his opportunity to shine.
We had a chance to catch up with Schreiber this week to chat a bit about the penultimate episode.
As I said, on the surface, Neal is the Defending Jacob's antagonist. To that end, we don't know that much about him.
While we got a little bit of backstory during Saving Jacob Season 1 Episode 7, Schreiber has gifted the character with a much more developed history, as he does with any character he plays.

Neal Loguiduice is a piece of work.
Defending Jacob Season 1 Episode 7 was the best episode of this Apple TV+ series to date, and it was all down to the tension inside the courtroom.
Who could have guessed all of the revelations that came to light would happen in front of everyone?
Pablo Schreiber is killing it as Neal. He's the character we love to hate, but his obsession with taking Andy down is becoming too obvious.
His actions on "Job" will have caused irreparable damage to his career, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him ousted from the world of law.
Johanna did the right thing by making sure Andy's father could not be brought up because that would have derailed the entire case from the jump.
The last thing I expected was for Andy to bait Pam into telling the court about Andy's father. I let out the loudest gasp at that moment.

In reporting Apple’s Q2 earnings last week, CEO Tim Cook revealed “an all-time record in Services,” noting that Apple TV+ was doing well as more people watched content while under lockdown. The streamer’s latest original scripted series, Defending Jacob, might be a prime example.
Apple is known for closely guarding information, and, like other streamers, Apple TV+ has not released viewership data, with only a few snippets surfacing last fall about how viewers consumed the service’s offerings during its November launch weekend. Apple TV+ debuted four original live-action scripted series at launch, led by flagship The Morning Show, the service’s most award-recognized show, which also is believed to be its most popular original.
Apple TV+ appears to have had its biggest debut since then with the new limited series Defending Jacob, starring Chris Evans. According to sources, Defending Jacob ranks among the top three series premieres...

The worst thing about Apple TV+'s new limited series Defending Jacob is that it feels like every other crime series we've seen before. The show, created by Mark Bomback and based on the book of the same name by William Landay, has all the hallmarks of a murder investigation, right down to the media

Perhaps, in these times of self-isolation and social distancing, and a non-stop, 24 hour news stream straight from hell, we’re not all in the mood to enlighten ourselves or enrich our lives. In my mind, if we get through all of this kinder than we were before then we’ve done the best we can.

That being said, we need some distractions if possible and while new releases on the film side are relative slim pickings, there’s plenty of television coming out in the next month – both returning and new, that is well worth checking out.

Even as certain planned series are gradually moving to later in the year to help bolster programming lineups in flux, there are plenty that are still holding onto their original premiere dates.

Inspired by the photo essay of the same name from Epic Magazine, “Little America” tells the stories of real-life immigrants. The latest original series from Apple TV+ follows their struggles, triumphs, and everything in between in their attempts to live the American dream.
The critical reception has been unanimous so far; in his review of the series, IndieWire’s Ben Travers called “Little America” the “first unconditionally good show” of Apple TV+’s original offerings. However, given the current political climate in which it’s been released, the focus now shifts to reach and impact: Will the anthology drama be able to connect with a politically diverse audience and shift narrow perspectives, or will it merely be preaching to a choir of people already accepting of immigrants?
IndieWire spoke to the executive producers of “Little America” — showrunner Lee Eisenberg, Alan Yang, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, and Epic Magazine co-founder...

Apple TV+’s new Chris Evans-led thriller Defending Jacob will debut this spring with a three-episode premiere, the company announced Sunday. The streaming service will drop the series’ first offerings on Friday, April 24, and new episodes will follow weekly thereafter.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by William Landay, the character-driven thriller will be a limited-series that unfolds around a shocking crime in a small Massachusetts town. It follows an assistant district attorney (Evans) who “finds himself torn between his sworn duty to uphold justice and his unconditional love for his son,” according to the streamer’s official description.
