A Piece Of My Foot Fell Off.....
wandernn1-81-6832745 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So...here we go with the journey halfway there. Emma is talking to her Earthly counsellor. Matt is unloaded off the medbus and returns home. He tours his home now confined to his wheelchair.

And the crew, sets up Christmas decorations inside the ship.

Ram tells Emma that Misha is losing his eyesight. This is some common decline that happens during space travel for some reason, in some people.

So we see some final live chats with families and friends, as the ship is soon to be out of range of live chats. And Mishka puts on a great puppet show for his grandkids..

+1 Star for Mishka's call home.....

Emma's call home was anticlimactic after Mishka's call.

But when Mishka breaks out the 'vodka' , that was some good times.

+1 Star for Mishka's vodka party, especially when Kwes announces part of his foot fell off.

A generous 7/10 for this episode.

Powerful for those grieving

Warning: Spoilers
By this point in the series I was committed to see it through. This episode took me by surprise. I felt an emotional connection to the words and symbolism. Daughter saying goodbye to Mother, worried it's the last time. It got me upset. Grief is a complex beast. My mom unexpectedly passed 2 years ago and I never connected more to anything ever before. Overall, this episode is climactic in the series and it gets better from here onward.

Space dogs? Yes they were adorable

I suppose the teen is coping by sneaking out, but I saw it as a character flaw that she would leave her dad by himself at holiday time. I am expecting mature actions I suppose from an immature gal. But at least she goes to church with him! Misha's daughter says she doesn't know how to forgive her dad, but she didn't say she wouldn't ever. Misha is a dear man who is thoughtful and reflective. These are the most intense character developments. Superb acting.

I wouldn't take a commuter flight from DC to LaGuardia if these guys were my flight crew.

Touching

Once again a family drama, which, for all practical purposes, could have been done in any setting. Each character had a Christmas story to tell. The daughter goes off with her boyfriend after dad goes to bed. He gets up and falls out of his wheelchair. Oh, they are going to Mars. I keep forgetting that.

Good god what is this

What is this? This doesn't even pass for a drama. This episode, especially the last call with her daughter, is excruciatingly syrupy, preachy, and seemingly pointless. There's such a specific audience they're going for with this dung pile of an episode that they keep threading the needle to remind their audience with cliches and bland empty pointless statements. You have to fit into this world view to enjoy this. Maybe I'm being overly harsh (as the other episodes are marginally better) but this episode deserves it.

Warning: Spoilers
What the hell was this episode.. It was such a weird christmas episode, everything was just wrong and cringe. This bad boy dude invites her to a "surprise"... and where do you think he takes her? To a bar? A cool activity? Something kinky? Nope. CHURCH with his mom.

What did they even think... Jesus Christ.
