Communication Delay Error
Radio waves propagate in vacuum at the speed of light (299,792,458 m/s) creating a communications delay from the Moon and back that ranges from 2.4 to 2.7 seconds, with an average of 2.56 seconds. This communication delay would only increase as the space craft continue to move further from the earth reaching an delay ranging from 3 to 22 minutes from Earth to Mars and back, depending on the current alignment of Earth and Mars.
While "phone calls" from the earth to the the moon would be theoretically possible, a conversations would have noticeable delays between each persons comments and the return response and as the craft increased it's distance from the moon (i.e. after lunch from the moon) phone call would no longer be practical, eventually reaching a 3 to 22 min delay.
