After a two-month hiatus, Taylor Swift is back on the road with the European leg of the Eras Tour. This time, there are songs from the new album, The Tortured Poets Department, and some splashy new outfits (see below.) There will be 18 cities on the list of tour stops, and already reports are circulating of a heavy U.S. fan presence at the shows.
Swift took the stage at La Défense Arena in Paris tonight about 8 p.m. (2 p.m. Et), heralded with a countdown clock and the Lesley Gore song You Don’t Own Me. She began her Lover set with Miss Americana.
New songs for the tour included So High School, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, But Daddy I Love Him, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, Down Bad, and Fortnight.

Taylor Swift might sing on her new album Midnights that it “must be exhausting always rooting for the antihero” — but we all know watching them never, ever gets old.
The new song “Anti-Hero” (and its corresponding music video) conjures everything TV and movie lovers know about the antihero character: an outsider brimming with inner turmoil, staring directly at the sun but never in the mirror.
If the track has you itching to spend time with a few more antiheroes, look no further — we’ve rounded up seven shows and movies with those complicated characters you love to root for … even if you know you maybe shouldn’t. (You can also check out the Antiheroes and Outsiders category for even more.)...

You asked, and Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid answered. So did Delainey Hayles, Eric Bogosian, and Assad Zaman! For Reid, it’s Fiona Apple‘s “Criminal.” Bogosian and Hayles can’t help but laugh at their answers, “Walk on the Wild Side” by Lou Reed and “Livin’ in the Sunlight, Lovin’ in the Moonlight” by Maurice Chavalier. (Dive back into Zaman’s fan questions video here.) Another big question: What surprised the cast most about this season? How popular is Taylor Swift? She’s so big that she has the power to bring her catalog back to TikTok, even though the video app is still feuding with her record label. Songs performed by the singer-songwriter have returned to TikTok despite the ongoing dispute between the app and Universal Music Group (Umg).
The songs that have popped up in the TikTok music library include tracks like “Cardigan” and “Anti-Hero,” which Swift released after signing a 2018 distribution deal with Universal. The other returnees include songs that were re-recorded as part of Swift’s “Taylor’s Version” series. The 34-year-old pop star has reclaimed the rights to hits like “Shake It Off” and “Love Story,” which can now be found on TikTok.
Those specific song choices indicate that Swift may have cut a separate deal with TikTok to cover tracks for which she owns the masters. Meanwhile, her label is...

Amid the ongoing dispute between TikTok and Universal Music Group, some music from that label’s biggest artist, Taylor Swift, has reappeared on the social media platform.
Universal Music pulled its songs from TikTok earlier this year, citing financial terms and concerns about inadequate restrictions on artificial intelligence tools. Umg’s catalog of 4 million songs includes tracks from Swift, Bad Bunny, Adele and many others.
The newly-reappeared songs are from Swift’s Universal catalog. She signed with the music giant in 2018 after leaving Big Machine. They include hits like “Lover,” “Anti-Hero,” “Cruel Summer” and “Cardigan.” The selection also includes her Taylor’s Version rerecordings of Big Machine-era hits such as “Shake It Off” and “Fearless.”
No deal has been announced between Universal Music and TikTok, so it is unclear how Swift’s music was reintroduced to the platform, but Swift owns her masters under her deal with Umg and may have made her own deal.

There’s new information about how Taylor Swift kept her Grammy-winning album 1989 from leaking back in 2014, the year it was originally released.
Of course, songs getting leaked is a huge concern for artists in the digital age. Taylor was understandably determined to protect her ’80s synth-pop album.
The singer-songwriter took some pretty extreme security measures at the time.
Keep reading to find out more…
Variety reported that when Taylor threw a listening party for about 20 fans at her Los Angeles home, she and her team blasted heavy metal music out of the windows, so that no Nsa-level microphones could pick up the music from far away.
When New York journalists listened to 1989 in 2014, they were required to sign NDAs beforehand. Then, they heard the new music through earphones attached to an iPad that was flown in by a member of Taylor‘s team and accompanied by a bodyguard.

Many fundraisers generally require their attendees to dress up for the Give Back-ular Spectacular!, but Jack Black decided to dress down – way down.
For his segment, the comedian stripped down to his underwear and sang Taylor Swift‘s “Anti-Hero” after an audience member requested him to sing it.
“Everyone knows that f—ing song,” he told the laughing crowd before he began singing.
The Give Back-ular Spectacular! was held on Wednesday night to help raise funds for TV and film crews affected by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
The Union Solidarity Coalition emphasized on their website that “crew members have gone without a paycheck for more than six months.”
“Many are facing serious financial distress: losing homes, losing health insurance and struggling to feed their families,” it stated. “The Give Back-ular Spectacular! will raise emergency relief funds for both union and non-union crew members in need due to the work stoppage.

Taylor Swift has joined elite company by achieving her 10th No. 1 single, and it’s all thanks to a song originally released four years ago.
“Cruel Summer” tops this week’s Billboard Hot 100. The song was originally released way back in 2019 on her album Lover, but was promoted as a proper single during “The Eras Tour.” Last week, she further bolstered the song’s streaming numbers by unveiling a live version of the track as well as a new remix from by Giobbi.
“Cruel Summer” marks Swift’s 10th No. 1 single to date, following “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar, “Look What You Made Me Do,” “Cardigan,” “Willow,” “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” and “Anti-Hero.”
As a result, Swift becomes only the 12th artist ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles. The Beatles currently hold the all-time record with 20 chart-toppers,...

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” officially opened on Friday, October 13. Under normal circumstances, Friday the 13th wouldn’t seem like an advantageous time to do anything except maybe get hunted by a hockey-masked serial killer, but in this case it happens to coincide with Grammy voting, which started on October 11 and ends October 20. Will that help her clean up in the nominations?
“The Eras Tour” has been a blockbuster on concert stages, and it was a blockbuster in movie theaters before it was even released, selling $100 million just in pre-sale tickets. That’s an astronomical number for a concert documentary, but it’s par for the course for Swift, who has enjoyed unprecedented success for the past year.

Her “Midnights” album dropped in October 2022 and in its first week achieved more than 1.5 million equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams.

Eligibility for the Grammys is relatively simple: release during the eligibility period, though in some cases songs from the previous cycle are eligible as well provided they were released as singles in the current Grammy year. Despite this, here are a few artists that either weren’t eligible or just weren’t submitted for awards consideration this year.
SEEGrammy voting is underway: Here are the 8 albums we’re currently betting on for Album of the Year nominations
“Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez
The biggest absence this year on the Grammy ballot was Rema and Selena Gomez’s multi-format smash hit “Calm Down (Remix).” The original song, a solo version by Rema, was submitted last year to the Best Global Music Performance category. The remix with Gomez also came out before last year’s eligibility ended, though, so it would have needed to take advantage of a loophole to be eligible again this year.

David Dastmalchian, the actor known for spooky roles in films such as Dune and The Suicide Squad, has lined up a new gig that feels appropriate for Friday the 13th.
Dastmalchian is the new brand ambassador for Titan Casket, a company that sells caskets online and helps with end-of-life planning. As part of his duties, Dastmalchian will appear in marketing materials and be the face of the company.

The 2024 Grammys will recognize music released between October 2022 and September 2023, which means the industry’s biggest names have begun their “For Your Consideration” campaigns in hopes of taking home an award. Swift has submitted Midnights for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Additionally, she sent in lead single “Anti-Hero” for consideration for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video. She’s also gunning for “Karma (ft. Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film premiered Wednesday night to an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, fans and of course Taylor’s team, with the star of the film in attendance. As one of the first to see the film, TheWrap has the scoop on which songs from the wildly popular tour made the film, and which songs were cut.
After making speeches in multiple auditoriums for separate audiences, Swift, clad in a sky blue floral-patterned dress (probably in theme for “1989 (Taylor’s Version) with her hair pinned up like the signature bob she had when that album first came out), sat back to enjoy the experience in one of the IMAX screening rooms with her background vocalists and publicist Tree Paine.
The documentary runs 2 hours and 48 minutes, slightly shorter than Swift’s three-hour setlist and performance, which she has brought to 17 of the United States so far in addition to Mexico.

'Eras Tour' Movie Set List: Surprise Songs Revealed, Multiple Songs Missing From Taylor Swift's Film
Taylor Swift is bringing her Eras Tour to movie theaters around the world and the set list is actually a bit different than what fans saw during the live show.
The 33-year-old singer has been performing for more than three hours throughout the tour, with some shows reaching 3.5 hours or more. The movie clocks in at just around two hours and 48 minutes, so some content had to be cut.
Taylor‘s speeches in between songs have been cut down by a little bit and the transition visuals in between eras are almost non-existent, but the biggest change is the missing songs.
So, what’s the set list for the movie?
Keep reading to find out more…
Lover Era
1. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
2. Cruel Summer
3. The Man
4. You Need to Calm Down
5. Lover
(“The Archer” has been cut from this era)
Fearless Era
6. Fearless
7. You Belong With Me
8. Love Story...

TikTok has been filled with fans romantically spinning their pets to Taylor Swift’s “August” in recent weeks. Now, Penn Badgley and Kevin Bacon have gotten in on the action, sharing their own version of the “August” TikTok trend.
In the clip, posted by Badgley, the You actor runs through a hallway where he finds Bacon and the pair dramatically twirl around (the face Bacon makes is A+ acting material). The TikTok was likely recorded at the same time Bacon appeared on Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed in an episode that debuted earlier this week.

Bleachers are back with “Modern Girl,” their first new music since 2021’s Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night.
In the wide canon of songs about modern life, Jack Antonoff and company sound more cheery than wistful, more David Bowie’s “Modern Love” than, say, Sleater-Kinney’s “Modern Girl.” With raucous saxophones and a scream, the singer/super producer kicks off a party jam about going out and shaking ass. The band has an equally fun time performing the track in its music video, directed by Alex Lockett.
“Modern Girl” brings Antonoff back to his own band after another couple of years of dominating pop music as a producer. Last year, for example, he lent a hand to Taylor Swift’s Midnights, The 1975’s Being Funny in a Foreign Language, and Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Bleachers even appeared on...

An NFL announcer had some fun with those Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance rumours over the weekend.

The Grammys eligibility period came to an end on September 15, 2023, so we’ve now officially heard all the albums that qualify for consideration at the upcoming awards. But the front-runner to win Album of the Year according to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users is a collection that came out at the very beginning of the season: Taylor Swift‘s “Midnights.” If we’re right, it would be an achievement unmatched by any artist in Grammy history.
Swift won Album of the Year for “Fearless” in 2010, “1989” in 2016 and “Folklore” in 2021. That’s the most wins ever in the category for a female artist, and it tied her as the most awarded artist of any gender. The only other performers with three Album of the Year trophies are Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder. If Swift indeed wins a fourth she would stand alone among recording artists and tie engineers Tom Coyne,...

A summer full of hope for theaters is giving way to a fall filled with uncertainty. Anxious studios, paralyzed by striking actors and writers demanding better labor contracts, are pushing several films like “Dune: Part Two” and “Kraven the Hunter” to 2024, and there’s a good chance that more release delays will come if the strike continues.
How ironic then, that cinemas might get a bailout not from a studio, but from the Antihero.
Last week, Taylor Swift set the film industry on its ear when AMC Entertainment announced that it would directly distribute a concert film recorded during the pop star’s wildly successful Eras Tour with a full theatrical window starting Oct. 13. After just one day, AMC reported a stunning $26 million from presales. Now, exhibition sources told TheWrap, Swift’s concert film is likely to become the first October release to top $100 million on its opening weekend.

Update: Justin Timberlake uploaded the first behind-the-scenes look at the official reunion of Nsync. The video showcased a little taste of their new song, “Better Place” from their studio recording session.
An emotional Jt addressed the group, “So many stars aligned that that’s why I hit y’all. I was like ‘Hey, something came up.’ If we do this song, it’s a love letter to our fans. I would be honored to have the group on this song.”
The nearly two-minute clip features the quintet — Lance Bass, Jc Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Timberlake — in the booth recording their individual parts of the group’s trademark five part harmony. Then they listen to the final mix, nodding along to the track and smiling.
“Wait, that’s the first Nsync song finished in 23 years?” Bass asked as the song ends. Timberlake replied: “Listen man, I love you guys.

Taylor Swift had 11 nominations at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, and she won a whopping nine of them including Video of the Year and Song of the Year for “Anti-Hero” and Artist of the Year for her body of work. That’s impressive no matter how you slice it, but was it really warranted? After all, that’s more VMAs in one night than anyone has achieved since Peter Gabriel won nine for “Sledgehammer” back in the ’80s. Join the discussion with your fellow music fans here in our forums, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

Welcome to the MTV Video Music Awards. Music’s biggest night! Well, not quite. How about: the night MTV shows how much it cares about music by deciding, “Way too many people are noticing the VMAs. We better move it to a Tuesday night in September.” But fortunately, the stars came out. The 2023 VMAs show was full of surprises — this was one of those random years when the Video Music Awards bizarrely failed to suck. The reason? It delivered a constant barrage of pop stars doing one or more of...

At last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift announced her Midnights album. And this year, the album helped her dominate the night with multiple wins, including her fourth for video of the year.
Swift is the only artist to win the top prize four times — this year it was for her No. 1 hit “Anti-Hero.” During the win that closed out the four-hour show Tuesday night, she shared the stage with those who worked on the music video: director of photography Rina Yang and editor Chancler Haynes.
Swift opened and closed the show with honors: She fangirled, like most of the audience, when she accepted the first award of the night from ‘N Sync, who earned a standing ovation from the crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
“I am not doing well pivoting from this to this. I had your dolls. Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now?...

Taylor Swift broke multiple records, winning the top prize at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday.
The pop star took home video of the year for her song “Anti-Hero.” With this win, she became the first artist to ever score the VMA for video of the year two years in a row, as she won in 2022 for “All Too Well (10 minute version) (Taylor’s version) (from The Vault).”
She also extended her record as the most awarded artist in the video of the year category. She won in 2015 for “Bad Blood” and in 2019 for “You Need to Calm Down” as well. The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards did not disappoint in terms of solid, energetic performances as well as chaos that fit the brand of the award show. From Sabrina Carpenter’s opening performance and raunchy improvisation at the end of “Nonsense,” to Taylor Swift fangirling over the Nsync Reunion, pop culture fed itself many times over Tuesday night. Shakira and Diddy gave comprehensive glimpses into their careers before receiving the Video Vanguard and the Global Icon Awards, respectively.
What looked like a dangerous stage malfunction for Olivia Rodrigo’s set during “Vampire” transitioned as planned into a live performance of “get him back!” and what looked like an error turned out to be a live re-enactment of the “Vampire” music video. Doja Cat, Demi Lovato and many more also brought the house down with their sets.
