One of the most riveting hours of television I've ever seen

Even though we know the outcome, I was still on the edge of my seat. The acting is superb, the directing is superb, the cinematography is beyond superb. What an achievement! I must admit this show is tough to swallow and i find myself needing to take breaks because it's just so infuriating what these families went through. Everyone need to watch this.

It's so hard to watch...

Warning: Spoilers
While I do believe that this happened, I just can't believe this ACTUALLY happened. This just makes me so angry. Not just because of the overly obvious racism involved, but also because literally everyone involved in the process seems to be an incompetent idiot. And this all leads to the ultimate idiocy: how can the Jury be convinced by the evidence presented? How can anyone not atleast HIGHLY doubt that these kids did this. Judging from what I've been shown in the show I see no way that I would've ever voted for guilty. I know those were different times and I am saying this from my modern-european point of view and that doesn't really say much, but it just can't go into my had. I'm furious.

The episode itsself was fabulous and very well made.

Oh and I don't see a problem showing trump in this. Yeah it's abit unnecessary and a show like this maybe shouldn't be used in this way but if Trump said that (I don't know if he did but I guess they wouldn't show it otherwise), he honestly deserves abit of backlash for it.

History needs to be told

So hard to watch but so well done. All these people want to give this a low review because they included Trump. Trump inserted himself into this story and very loudly and publicly called for these boy's heads. That is history, not some political statement against the President. You can't change history, he is a part of this story, it's not partisan. This miniseries is masterfully done and deserves nothing less than 10 stars for every episode.

Parte Dois

Olhos Que Condenam (2019)

Miniseries

1st Season

Episode 2 - Parte Dois

Obviously the police officers and the detective are to blame, but it's surreal how the media can destroy a person (I'm not writing about "just" arresting an innocent person but even taking someone's life), I'm from 1996 and even though I was a child in the case of the Brazilian Eloá, I remember how the media treated this case, especially Sonia Abraão's program in which she was even an """"expert"""" on the program saying that it was an act of love and that later they were even going to get married, Sonia Abraão even spoke on the phone with the criminal, turning the case into a circus, obviously she didn't pull the trigger, but she and many in the media did it together indirectly.

Anyway, back to the miniseries, it's sad to know that Trump's 15 minutes of fame lasted so long.

There was no way not to cry at the end of the episode, the entire episode was suffocating but the ending was sad, and knowing that they didn't have a single shred of evidence against them was revolting.

And to think that there have always been cases where innocent people were unjustly imprisoned, and it will probably always happen, but I hope it doesn't happen (even though I know it will always happen, but I want to believe that a miracle will happen in that).

Episode two of the first season, of the Miniseries Olhos Que Condenam, watched on April 28, 2024.

Powerful

One of the best dramatized courtroom trials I've ever seen. The acting was amazing, the cinematography was well done, and the emotions conveyed were powerful.

Oh Hell no

Well it's nearly a perfect episode. Acting is a 20/10! I actually hate kids in movies, but this time they're the highlights. I nearly cried at one part, because of the acting. The cinematography was as good as in the first episode...maybe even better.

Why just 8 stars tho? Well I didn't like this Trump bashing and sometimes the episode felt to rushed. Sometimes I asked myself...maybe do 2 episodes out of it and go into more detail. I didn't really like one character...I mean the show told us first to like her and at the end she was an a***ole too! It just happened out of nowhere and many scenes felt too long or too short. Pacing wasn't as good as in the pilot. But maybe I'm too harsh on the show, because this episode was truly great.

Thanks for doing this show Netflix...but stop this Trump stuff....please.

WTF with the Trump stuff?
hugoventura0923 October 2019
What's the deal with the Trump stuff? It's nothing to do with the case, it's dumb to put it. Other than that, it's a great show.

Awesome

Warning: Spoilers
Continuing my marathon and what a surreal episode. Impressive how they simply had nothing against them. Police officers contradict themselves all the time in their statements. No evidence against them. And they still blamed him. Imagine these family members seeing Trump after years of being president, unfortunately his fame didn't last just fifteen minutes. Society is sick for supporting someone like him. Childhoods lost just because the incompetent police didn't find the culprit, but wanted to blame someone to make themselves feel good about the media. How do these police officers and lawyers sleep after putting innocent people in jail? Episode two watched on March 11, 2024.

An other wise good show at highlighting injustice.
zombiefan898 June 2019
However, the blatant Trump bashing was over the top. At the time, the boys were confessed rapists of a woman left for dead. By all accounts, they were "Super Predators", and no one was on their side. The public didn't know they were innocent and coerced into their confessions. Hind sight is twenty-twenty. There was no point in trying to muddy the waters with edited, out of context interviews from Trump.

How to ruin a great episode ?

Add out of context Trump stuff... In a show of great quality that was just a low blow.
