Interesting narrative device starts this one, as in a decent school bus scene Bart and Lisa end up listening to a podcast interview with Krusty. Where he talks about the science fiction epic movie he tried directing. Which nobody ever talks about.
The rest is told in flashback till a middle credits scene gets us back to the present.
It has good satire of 80's buddy movies. A tattered science fiction novel that will remind those of us who have been reading such things for a long time of tracking down genre classics in second hand bookshops. And it is one of those with a lot of fun looks at characters as they were years before.
But it's one of those that does so much to make a strong story, it forgets to be all that funny. There are sporadic laughs, and it does lift a lot in the last five mins when we get the point of the whole thing, but it just isn't as funny as you would hope. So a perfectly decent watch, but it won't stick in the mind for long after.
