Following a premiere at Sundance 2023, where Netflix picked up the psychological horror film for an undisclosed sum, the streaming service has set a June 28 release date and unveiled the first trailer for "Run Rabbit Run." With Sarah Snook ("Succession") in the lead, Australian director Daina Reid's second feature film is about a single mother and fertility doctor named Sarah (Snook) who is shaken by her 7-year-old daughter Mia's (Lily Latorre) strange behavior and "inexplicable memories of a past identity."
The connection, as the "Run Rabbit Run" trailer reveals, is Sarah's late sister Alice who had an interest in wild rabbits and went missing when she was just seven years old. Mia turns out to have both things in common with Alice when she takes a liking to a rabbit that appears on their doorstep. You know where this is going, right? Mia believes she's Alice and seemingly begins turning on her mother,...

Projects starring Donnie Yen and Zhang Ziyi are among the independently produced TV series to be launched on the sidelines of this week’s Busan International Film Festival. The company responsible is Changin’ Pictures, a would-be studio being hatched by Hong Kong-based film director and producer Peter Chan Ho-sun.

The rescue, in summer 2018, of a youth soccer team and their coach from a flooded cave system in Thailand remains one of the most outright inspiring stories of recent years. Amidst intense interest and scrutiny, an international team came up with a plan to anesthetize the boys and maneuver them out of the flooded caves before monsoon rains intensified. It’s a tense story, and one with an outcome that isn’t just upbeat but is genuinely astounding. Little wonder that it’s lent itself to repeated retellings, including last year’s documentary “The Cave” and this year’s quietly released Ron Howard drama “Thirteen Lives,” starring Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell as the heroic British cave divers.

Chances are you’ve heard the harrowing story of the Wild Boars soccer team. A group of 12 players, ages 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach spent roughly three weeks trapped inside Thailand’s Tham Luang cave before being evacuated by an international team of heroes who never gave up on them. The 2018 ordeal captured the hearts and minds of the world, and has been retold in both documentaries and dramatizations that include the recent Ron Howard Prime Video movie Thirteen Lives. The upcoming Thai Cave Rescue digs a little deeper as a Netflix limited series. Shot entirely in Thailand with locals as part of the cast, the production even filmed inside the homes of those who lived through it. Writer and showrunner Dana Ledoux Miller is most proud of the authenticity the six episodes bring. “I think this show has a lot for everyone. It is full of suspense and action,...

Sk Global’s “Thai Cave Rescue” series faced almost as many obstacles as the specialist divers drafted to bring out 12 boys and their coach from a waterlogged grotto in summer 2018 in front of a blaze of media attention and an expectant Thai nation.
The show debuts on Netflix on Thursday, a timing that means it follows three feature-length depictions and multiple news media specials retelling the watery events.
It is also the retelling that is most closely associated with the Thai government, which auditioned prospective production companies and streamers and has carefully held the real-life rescued youngsters close to its chest.
The platform’s answer has been to stress authenticity, access and width as much as possible.

Film studios in Asia-Pacific are expanding the scale of their operations and want location incentives to keep pace.
“Incentives are fundamental, they are an expectation [of production managers] and having one is no longer a Usp,” said Rashid Karim, CEO of Iskandar Malaysia Studios. He was speaking at the Content Asia summit conference in Bangkok on Thursday.
The Ims facility opened ten years ago around the same time as Malaysia introduced a location production incentive scheme. These days, the scheme offers a generous 35 uncapped rebate. But since the scheme launched, rival locations in the Asian region including Thailand, India and Mongolia have launched or are in the process of launching rebate schemes.
Anthony Tulloch, who previously headed Ims and is now the CEO of the Docklands Studios in Melbourne, said: “Incentives are imperative. Australia has been doing this for years. They are tried and trusted. You can’t just build and expect work to come in.

The movie "Thirteen Lives" is about a group of 12 boys and their soccer coach who find themselves trapped deep in a network of caves after flooding blocks their way out. The group is eventually rescued by a team of divers who undertake the dangerous journey to find and rescue them.
The film's plot is based on a real event that happened not too long ago. On June 23, 2018, 12 boys between the ages of 11 and 16 and their assistant coach, Ekapol Chanthawong, went missing while exploring Tham Luang Nang Non, a complex of caves stretching between Thailand and Myanmar. They planned to celebrate a player's birthday in the caves, which they often explored, but the team found themselves stranded instead when a torrential rainstorm led to a flood that blocked their exit.
During their time in the cave, the team survived by drinking the water dripping down the walls and by digging a...
